During early teal and early season we put as many as we can in the spread sometimes that’s upwards of 4 mojos and it sucks them in but after about December we shy away from them

I agree with the host. In Maine we have very fresh birds in September. I use the intermittent spinning mojo and works well for about 3 days. After that leave 'em in the garage.
Your info makes a lot of sense. I just bought one. After a month of hunting ducks I take only a couple of decoys it works better for me than other hunters have 2 or 3 dozen decoys bird do learn that stuff where is to many decoys they stay away
Just an FYI the new King mojo has presented some wing detachment issues for my friend and I. He got one this season, he had a small one b4 and it worked as described in the video. This new one the dang wings just popped right off first go. He got new ones made extra sure they were on as good as they can be and still they popped off in use. We were in shallow water the last time and recovered them with a net. I'm not sure if it's some flaw or operation error but I wouldn't fully trust the wings to stay on over deep water at this point and what good is it if they fall off anyway.. hope I can spare someone the joy we have experienced on the king mojo and I welcome any input or advice any other hunters may have on these new decoys.
I only use a dozen decoy's 6 woodies and 6 mallards sometimes a little less and a woodie mojo and I actually do pretty well except I use in the early season a couple woodies an the mojo I find early season the less the better and November i start putting out more decoy's when I go tho due to the fact I pheasant hunt a lot but anyway I was wondering your opinion and how I could improve my luck
I agree that the robos are a hit an a miss. I can’t tell you how many times we took em out of our spread in late season and had better luck. Also if anyone is hunting in the Pacific North West where robos are illegal I wouldn’t buy the wind operated one. When I lived in Oklahoma I bought one for the heck of it and even under 30 mph winds both wings wouldn’t rotate
Yeah Mojo's are kind of Hit and Miss over water. During late-season when their Mojo shy and I'm hunting over water I'll have a Mojo in the blind on a stand so I can turn it on get the birds attention and then tuck the Mojo away so it appears the bird just landed. By the time The birds get to you all they see is decoys in the water and come right in. I'll use the same technique in the field as well if birds are hard to pull in in late season but by that time not only are Mojo's flaring them but decoys will also. Most people would just use the remote but personally I think if a mojo is levitating over the water or field not moving its going to flare them just as much as the Mojo spinning if they are indeed Mojo shy.
Here in East Texas hunting flooded timber and the occasional field. I have noticed flipping wings flare the ducks (other than gaddies they don't care) bad after like the 2nd week. so the group I hunt with tried flapping wing and on the water motion decoys and stuck with it since.doesnt flare them as bad some times it will. mostly when there are pintails in the sky with green heads they will flare.so in my opinion give a flapper a try and some splashing or rippling decoys it might work as good up there as down here
In Oregon we gotta use a pull string one, they don’t allow the electronic. I’m skeptical of them, and when I have a few birds that flare it’s the first thing to go.
Love mojos up in Michigan up until 4-5 years ago we could use them on managed hunt areas and I never had hunt with out birds back then. Since then it’s been hit or miss. Last year I bought a couple of the mojo ripplers. I have one attached to a jerk rig and the other just sits in decoys. They work pretty good so far in getting the attention of birds and bringing your spread to life. But still spinning wing at least here in Michigan was and still is king decoy.

Up here in eastern Canada its night and day with mojos. Without them, birds tend to do whatever they want, sometimes flying right by. With a mojo though, its like duck crack, they come straight in time after time. Hate hunting without one. Ill add that we exclusively hunt over water for ducks.
I have a couple of teal Mojo's that I use for dove so instead of buying a separate Mojo for dove I just throw my couple to out there and they do the job
I have stopped running spinners except during teal season. I’m more into agitators and higdon battleship swimmers. In my experience if your gonna run spinners have the feet just barely touching the waters surface. I’ve had better luck that way
They're useless on a cloudy day. We use them early season and pull the last half unless were shooting teal or divers. They hurt more than help when hunting older or stale birds.
I have never had them flair birds but I place them probably 40 yards from the spread coming into the V. I flared every flock coming in on moving water with mojos in the decoys, and also with her rigs, found if you get a few decoys that are set up to wobble side to side and put off a ripple, you can effectively take all your other decoys out and run two decoys and limit out. It's deadly to have two wobblers in your spread on moving water all the other decoys are just to get them to hit the approach you want and land where you want, the mojos are just to get them coming from that direction and is like the down current fence, where your floaters are your up current fence. I had a epiphany one day about set up when I researched classical spreads, even in ponds your using the decoys to create a boundary to where your going to stop or start shooting. Outside of the boundaries you let the birds work, and inside the boundaries like a 20 to 30 yard area is the hunting lane, the sweet spot is the open hole behind you J or V, which is always ajacent to your blind. And the ducks can be aproching from the side or straight on or passing over. This set up makes you kill more ducks because the shooting lane is small and a duck in the shooting lane will be very close easier to hit. Calling is a personal thing, but I keep two calls one rigged really bass for feeding chuckles, and one tuned to a duck quack and one ringer for ducks that break off. It's weird to change calls the first couple times you call this way but it pays off later. It also forces you to set up a shotgun bar in the blind and this keeps you from shooting outside the lane because you are busy working ducks to flair to land in your shooting lane, which is when in one motion you drop your call back to the lanyard, pick up your shotgun mount it properly and blast a duck that just got suprised while in its slowest moment of flight. It drops you put a swatter round in it and go retrieve it, or send the dog after it which has been trained on a platform to work in a yard or box, which is exactly what your decoys just set up. This is a outline of duck hunting that has been followed since I was a little kid, we all get excited and set up pothole and edge spreads, put shells in the gun in the parking lot a quaternary mile away from the blind, get all emotional about someone else hunting near us etc... but truth is with the classic formula, leave the gun in the sleve till you get comfortable in the blind, after setting up a proper spread, and don't worry too much about someone setting up right next to you as long as they are outside your shooting lane of 40 feet and don't shoot towards them, it's edicut in some of the areas I hunt because there a postage stamp with 5 blinds and everyone has the same chance what separates hunters in these situations is the focus on correct decoy shapes flapper setups and not making dumb calls like shooting at birds 60 yards away, throwing hail calls as greetings, and putting pothole spreads on rivers. Anyway yeah you can flair birds, you can also wear a tinfoil hat on a sunny day and shoot a limit, the ducks are interested in other ducks if it looks natural they go there. Ducks land behind formations and swim into them so having a flapper anywhere close to your formation will scare a duck. Just my .02cents cause I see it almost every time I go out, and people are always wondering who in my group got the shot or why the birds go to my spread versus the other guy's. I don't wonder these things when it happens to me because some days you have the magnet, some days someone else does. Stop after the hunt at pickup and walk over and talk to them and look at what there doing cause were all a dying bread who love ducks.
If you have fog or mist coming off the water they are invaluable, if its sunny out I pull them if the first set of birds flair, I use them over water and that's kinda the rule of thumb, mist or fog makes them because they give a illusion of ducks with more visibility. Where passing ducks might only see shadows of decoys. If it is overcast is another great time for them. But if you hunt sunny days on water just get them out of there. Shadows are the killer in a duck or goose spread if you can place mojos where they dont cast a shadow leave them if you can see shadows move them or take them out. I try to explain this to people but they dont seem to understand that waterfowl hate directional shadows, so if the shadows are pointed at the decoys that will go there if they are pointing away from the decoys they will not. So if you are hunting a lake or river in the morning you will have better luck with the sun at your back, same in the afternoon, so you will be on the east in the morning and west in the evening unless you have cover that naturally changes where your shadow is.
Also I have a love hate relationship with the mojos yet I always start with three out. The reason is sometimes the ducks come to them like a magnet. On those days having two mallards and a teal out is the magic. Somedays they wont come near them so we use swimmer decoys that move behind the main V. Some decoys are magnets on different occasions so making a spread with as many magnets as possible is part of it. I run about 7 different kinds of decoys and on or two of the actual packages is the magnet which is in my spread. Over time you will notice certain structures in the spread that draw ducks and you will narrow it down to one two or three decoys and by trying each one separately you will find the one that's the magnet. Building a spread out of magnets take a couple years or a heavy season. But after that you can set up your decoys with confidence that your going to shoot ducks even on a bad day and dont have to carry a bunch of decoys that just do nothing.
I find the mallards work the mojos a lot better on those super nasty cloudy, rainy, snowy mornings! On a blue sky day they just dont seem to like them as much.

Liam Diffee this isn't exactly a swamp, but I hunt a few small ponds and I've thrown 1 or 2 of those things out there, you won't get any big flocks to come down with those out there, but small groups of 2-3 dont seem to mind those flock a flickers, not sure if that holds true in a swamp, but there's only one way to find out! When I watch large duck feeds in a field, I see more white flashes from their wings then I do watching ducks on water. Not sure that’s the reason but that’s my insight
An old guy wrote a "hunters hint" for Fur-Fish-Game magazine about 40 years ago saying pretty much the same thing. His hint was to paint the white parts of your decoys extra bright and exaggerate the white a bit. White is the most visible color in the field.
Same story in MN. You cannot use battery powered or electric decoys on any public land. However, lucky duck makes a wind or pull string powered spinning wing decoy that does the same job. I would look into this, they are around $60 on Amazon. I believe it’s called the lucky duck Air Force

There are duck hunters that suck really bad at hunting ducks. So bad that they can not kill ducks in arkansas without a mojo. Banning them on public weeded out a lot of guys like that.

I luv to use the mojo , I have seen them flare on them also .
During late season timber hunts stick them off in the brush to where the ducks can just see the flash of the wings.
I’ve never had luck with them but 1 or 2 time in the field most time were pulling them by 8:30 because they’re flairing ducks so much

No hunting on land in Florida but work great on teal-tree ducks and divers, at least you get a passing shot.Four or five work best here.
I always start with one until I see ducks flare, then I start changing stuff. I DONT USE THEM ON CLOUDY DAYS!
On cloudy days PUT PANTY HOSE ON THE WINGS. Sounds crazy...try it.

Iv used them for years over water. Last year I never used it once still shot 100 birds I don’t know how I feel about them

It’s illegal to use motorized decoys in Washington State. Wind decoys ok.
It really helps to use the right length stake. You want your mojos ass touching the water. Why? It looks like a duck on a stick if you don't.

There are duck hunters that suck really bad at hunting ducks. So bad that they can not kill ducks in arkansas without a mojo. Banning them on public weeded out a lot of guys like that.
