Loop Knot - a must have for Streamer Fly Fishing

- We pay thousands for equipment, flies, travel and then tie a crappy old clinch knot to an articulated fly. Nooo, stop the madness, take a few extra seconds and tie on the best streamer knot there is for fresh or salt water, the loop knot. It's simple, effective and bullet proof! You'll be happy you did... fish on!

Best loop knot video on UA-cam.
Thank you Jim that means a lot!
I have been looking for the best loop knot for me to do. This is the easiest of all the loop knots. Thanks!
I'm so glad you like it, it's been a staple of mine for years. Works great, yet to fail!
I think that the reason this worked out so well is 'cause you've got some serious skill.
It takes some practice, but that's what you can do when you're sitting in front of the TV! Before you know it it'll become second nature. The trick is to adjust the size of the loop. And then pull the long end DOWN towards the fly, not up away from the fly.
Took me a little to remember, but now it is my go to knot !!!
so glad to hear that you love it too!
This is a Homer Rhodes Non-Slip Loop Knot. Great instruction, thanks for posting.
Love that knot! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this bud. Really solid quality video and instruction.
Glad you enjoyed it
Very well explained and executed. Thank You!!!
I love that knot, I'm sure you will too! Glad I could help!!
Thanks for taking the time to post.
My pleasure!
this is a must use knot when you are swinging flys for steelhead, that little fixed loop in front of the eye lends a more life-like flutter to the fly underwater.
100% agree!
The imagery is what got the love…..double granny
I really had fun making this video! Glad you enjoyed!!
Great video thanks ☺️
Thanks for watching and enjoy the knot!
Consecrated forever Granny💓
That's funny, great comment!! 😅😅
Earl Dibbles Jr. Poppin out😂
Tried to make the video amusing, glad you liked it!
Looks like a non slip loop but you didn't go back through the first granny knot. Is this way better?
love this knot, hope you enjoy it too!
Interesting knot. Easy tie two surgeon
Yeah the double surgeons works, but that Hesse knot works incredibly well. Especially on dry fly leaders were you really can use a small tapered knot!
Thanks for sharing. Is this the same as Left Kreh's Non-Slip Loop Knot?
Nope… this is a simpler way to achieve the same result! Try it out, I think you’ll like it.
@@TroutTornado Hi, is this Rapala Loop Knot then? I want everything to be precise. Thanks.
Good video, good knot. For the record, though, that's an overhand knot, not a Granny knot. You get a granny knot when you screw up a square knot.
But hey, the fish don't care!
I had no idea!! Glad you like it!!
I went all in and did strenght tests on half blood knots of all my lines on diferent diameters of wire 1000 years ago, to know for sure, what was the strongest. One line ended up having 100% with twice throufg the eye, 4 turns and lock. Any tests on this one's strength?
Sorry no… all I can say is it’s never failed at the knot. I’ve had some strikes that have broken the loop but that’s 100% dependent on the strength of the line! Thanks for checking!
@@TroutTornado I'd test them, just to know. (I use a bucket, hanging the hook in it handle, filling water, till it breaks. As acurate as can be - do it more than once of corse) When I "need" a loop, I still use a half blood knot, that I just tighten up as hard as I can, without closing the loop (I use my nails, but a tool with a slit for the line, to tighten around could be used) and that stays open for ever, unless it gets caught hard in a branch or something. I do always fish with 20 or more pds line though (50 pds salmon here) so maybe my way wouldn't work with thinner lines. You're welcome. Always nice with educational videos.
Its all about strength .How does this compare to the Brian Chan loop knot
All I can tell you is that I've used it for years and never had it fail.
👍
👊👊
do you sell that streamer? imma need some of those
No sir but a friend ties them for me. Reach out on Instagram and I'll put you in contact.
Hello friend, very nice to see you. Where are you ? 🗯🗯
Thanks for visiting
I was today years old when I learned you can adjust the loop size like that. SMH...Knot diagrams are hot garbage, never again. Thanks for the helpful vid, good timing for me as I've recently become obsessed with mousing and a loop knot is practically a necessity to get that mouse swimming action jusssst right.
Bill that’s great! Such an amazing and easy knot, glad you enjoyed the video!!
So if i want to change lure i need to cut the line?
Yes. Small price to pay for amazing motion and the freedom to move!
