Clear, detailed demonstration how to tie non slip loop knot, for both fly fishing lures and regular lures. I have used this knot many years for fly fishing and it has never slipped. Lures have better action. Make sure the loop is small and close to the hook eye or the lure will get hung up in the loop.

Remember the Old Father of Fly Fishing," LEFTY KREGH?? ,He is no longer with us, But left us with his great Loop Knot , called Kregh Loop knot. Simple ,Strong.
you want a loop knot tag end; When Trimed, to point rearward back toward your lure, so weed debris slides off of it.

Nice job on demonstrating the knot. It really works well with Clousers. I tested a slight variation that made the knot stronger. Use a double overhand knot instead of the initial single overhand knot to start tying the knot.

I fished with a guide who used a fireman's knot to make similar non-slip loops to flies. This knot is just a Figure 8 made in a folded back line and is strong and easy to do right - if all you want is a loop. (It is preferred by many rock climbers over the bowline because their lives depend on it). The guide was a retired fire fighter and figured out how to tie a Figure 8 knot using only the tag end to allow a fly to be in the loop - something that is a bit hard to remember and easy to do wrong. Your knot avoids both problems.
BTW - this is one of the best educational videos I've seen. Your teaching style is outstanding.

Many thanks ,your excellent demo was the only one among four others that I watched that taught me how to do this knot correctly! Over many months I've watched knot tying videos ad infinitum on UA-cam and learned much. However this is the first one to make me literally laugh out loud - LOL. " . . . have no idea how a couple of dozen ended up in my flybox" ROTFL We have an expression down here in Oz for someone like you - 'Funny Bastard' Thanks for the laugh, but I think, after having just mastered the 'Perfection Loop', I'll stick with that one . . . for the time being. Cheers . . . .

I tie this knot a little different but not on purpose. I was trying to remember how to tie it and combined an improved clinch knot. Now I wonder how it compares. I bring the tag in from the fly and back through the overhand but rather than wrapping six or seven times I only go once or twice and then back through the overhand. Now, like an improved clinch, I put the tag end back through the loop I just created and tighten down. Works great and keeps the knot small in size. Great video

This is also a great knot to use when using a rapalas without an o-ring it gives them a lot more action, just be sure that you wet the knot before you pull it tight or it will fray the line and snap on the set.

Even back in the 70's, I would use the exact same knot while throwing a Rapala or Rebel Minnow Bait...#9, 11 or 13.....It gives it a tighter Wobble when fished....I also used a Bolan Knott with the added 4 turns of the line and back thru the Bolan loop....Great Know to get more action on a Minnow style bait....All other Lures, ties straight to the Hook eye...Only use for Minnow style baits..

You don't have to pass the tag through the overhand knot twice. I make an overhand knot, pass the tag through the eye, wrap the tag a few times above the overhand knot, pass the tag through the overhand knot, and fair the knot as the video shows. Hasn't failed me yet, and it's my most commonly used knot! Great video and great knot!

But this is NOT the Rapala Knot, which has an additional step of turning the tag end back through the previous loop that was just made. I.e., this is the original knot and Rapala made an improvisation or improved version of it.
