I was born in 1961 Marc Bolan and T-Rex were the first band I ever followed. Marc introduced me to music. I saved my pocket money to buy 'Ride a White Swan' and also a T-Rex t-shirt.
Died 1 month after elvis presley. When Elvis died, Marc Bolan said "I certainly hope I don't pop off in the next few weeks as I'll only get page 3 coverage." He died a month later in a road accident. 😮
I was born in 1961, T-Rex was the first band to introduce me to a love of music. Marc was a true trail blazer, I still love his music to this day. Thank you T-Rex.
Thanks Paul, it is sad that such a rare young talent shoul be wiped out so quickly. Marc had the most amazing voice and was truly innovative musically. His music was just as exciting and new in the same way as David Bowies was. Completely mesmerising on tv, he had an unforgettable smile. So sad that he was taken so young. How much music has been lost because Marc was not here to create and perform it? Hopefully still rocking in Heaven! 💔
I'm gutted I missed this! What a legend, taken far too young and WOW, that's a beautiful bench! Brought a tear to my eye, especially when you read out that his parents are reunited with him! God bless them all! Lovely advice at the end Paul, thank you! One of my favourite quotes to live by is from Bruce Lee, the famous water quote. For anyone who doesn't know the quote: "Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless, like water. Now, you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend." If we try to adapt to our surroundings and circumstances like water adapts to anything it's poured into, and make the best out of bad situations, with perseverance we can make the impossible possible. As Audrey Hepburn once said "Nothing is impossible, the word itself says "I'm possible!".
Oh man, I just loved the 70's. Love Glam Rock. Marc was just so talented. Seen a lot of youtubers cover the crash site. But this is nicer. I don't really want to see where he lost his life . Thank you Paul, so beautifully covered , as usual .
Fabulous tribute. My favourite road trip is driving across Ireland with my T Rex music playing & me singing along like a mad one ... I was too young to appreciate him as a teen but discovered him in my 20s.
I was seven years old when Marc sadly passed , & i can still remember it today . Yes i am a massive T-REX fan and still blast the tunes from my car today .... God bless Marc ... Thank you Paul for another great video
I watched the Top Gun Maverick film last night and was delighted to hear a Marc track being played in the bar scene in the film, his music lives on! God bless xx
Could you imagine how many of these brilliant people would have been here today without drink and drugs. Taken too young😟. Brill again bud!! Love the positivity!!!
Marc Bolan was the first live music that I saw. I was about 13 years old. Have several T-Rex albums and just loved his music. I remember being heartbroken when he died. Thank you for this one. RIP Marc.

Marc Bolan one of the most talented musicians I was a kid when he was alive I heard him when I was like 10 years old.. It's a shame he died so tragically. Many thanks for the video clip Greetings from Germany (Wiesbaden)
Just catching up with your channel ..Wow glad U didn't miss this . I remember running home from School to watch his TV show every week. Still play his songs. Lost a legend and so young . 😪
I was always a fan of Marc's . When I heard of his passing , it was like time had stood still . ( He wasn't very far from home when the crash happened ) Had he survived , I wonder what other musical treats he would have given us ? I think the best tribute , is to keep listening to his music . Nicely said and presented , Paul . RIP , Marc .
Very much my era I was 15 in 1970 I remember them top on top of the pops with mickey finn on the bongo drums rip Marc, another fantastic video you were very reflective at thd end and you said many a true word well said Paul, brilliant.
Yes think it’s a choker ,has always upset me when I think of sad end of Marc bolan, try to cheer up when I hear his music he was as great as Bowie .thankyou paul .they must not be forgotten.
thanks paul for another great show, yes marc bolan was taken from us far to soon from my childhood to now his music is so much loved,my elder brother served a term in the royal artillery, and the day he came home he bought home with him a record for me which was telegram sam,so the memories paul will go on forever and marc's music today still gets people on the dance floor what a guy marc was,R.I.P Marc and thanks for music it will be with us forever
Brilliant again Paul...I am a major t.rex fan..ive visited the crash site..the tree and shrine humbling...that is...he embraced punk rock..and even invited the damned to support him on tour!!!...legend..all the best Hammergazz👍
We, his fans, who loved him and continue to do so, poured our love through you fingers, which so gently touched his marker. I had tears in my eyes when you did that. Thank you for taking us to him. X
And you've done it again and stirred some lovely memories of Marc Bolan never to be forgotten. We lived for a while in Stoke Newington in the 70s and Marc Bolan's boyhood home was just across Stoke Newington Green from us - occupied by our friends' daughter. Our little ones played together and it was a privilege to be there. Of course he was still alive then and she used to get girls hanging about outside thinking he still lived there. Funny but a nuisance sometimes!
I was 9 years old when T/Rex played in Rotherham Clifton Park in 1971 and listened in bed to him singing Ride a white Swan. What a beautiful memorial bench with a swan. RIP Mark, Thank you Paul beautifully covered.
What? I can't believe it.😯 Just when I wanted to ask you if you could visit Boley's final resting place, it shows up in my notifications. Been there many times, as I was a member of the official T. REX Fan Club. But I haven't seen this for about 30 years. A lot has changed, so thanks a lot for updating me. Great job!!! ❤️🙏❤️ Rock on🙌🌟🙌
This is my era, i had a beautiful poster of Marc on my bedroom wall, i was at school when he was killed, others and myself cried. I still find it unreal xx
Mrs H ....I remember Marc Bolan's death cos it was another shock as a month before Elvis died... I was 10 yrs old at the time and those two deaths where always talked about... Teens where crying over both losses and in my home both Elvis &Marc's music was played daily.... 💔
Big fan of Marc bolan and T rex very sad especially when you showed where his ashes are layed to rest along with his parents. Thankyou Paul for another great video 👍
Yes, I did … Steve Conway was a lovely ballad crooner and a favourite of my gran … Keith Moon 🤪legendary and very talented drummer who was not destined to live to old age 💔🤘🏻
In my opinion Bolan and T Rex were unique. Even to this day, I can't think of any other big artists who sound similar or produce similar material. That is also the first time I've seen the footage of the wrecked car and of his funeral. Sadly car accidents in those days were usually horrific. No safety features whatsoever - no crumple zones or airbags, no ABS, solid window glass (not like more modern shatterables), and despite seatbelts being fitted to new cars by law since 1965 they weren't compulsory to actually wear until 31st January 1983. But it's so nice to see people who actually care, taking great love and pride in preserving the various memorials to him. A unique talent who died literally two weeks shy of his 30th birthday and who seemed to have a glittering future ahead of him. Being best friends with the legendary Bowie, it would have been fascinating to compare their respective careers as time passed. Maybe they would have done a lot of work together.
The memorial bench is a work of art. It's tragic that he died so young in a road accident. People die from serious illnesses when they're young but despite the sadness there's a small element of expectation, knowing it will happen. When Marc Bolan and his girlfriend got in the car that day they had no idea it would be their final journey. Golders Green Crematorium looks like a pleasant place to spend a few hours. It was reassuring to see that his resting place is cherished.
My dad actually had a similar crash in a slightly older Mini, round about the same time. My grandmother said she thought that was it for him and always said she never understood how he walked away from it. Car accidents in those days were often utterly horrific, partly because driving standards were lower and cars were frankly total crap.
I remember how shocked i was seeing the billboard on my way to work in London, I loved Deborah, loved Ride a white swan. I did meet him briefly in a health shop I worked in, I came up the stairs from my tea break and there he was with a mate who bought some veggie sausages. I left him alone but it was amazing to see him.
How sweet of you Paul to do this video have seen this site before by another yubetuber who seems to have vanished but you melt my heart the words you speak seem so sincere sadly people do”let you down or vanish from your life shame your 3 hours away I’m sure you’d be a good freind take care and thanks again ❤️😊
Really enjoyed that, always done so respectfully! I especially liked how you touched on connection and mental health towards the end, that was really powerful. Thank you so much for doing this! Xxx
Thanks for the sincere video, I found the commentary from 12.00 till 15.00 touching, poignant and uplifting. Everyone should note just how precious life is.
Nice vid! actually been to Golders Green Crematorium back in 2013 on a still snowy day...very dickensian. Visited Marc's plaque (can't remember the chair being there then) and many others which are there! RIP Marc.
Well done Paul, a great conclusion to your Marc Bolan series. I can just remember, being very young, looking up at the tree to see, from what I vaguely remember as either a hat and or scarf with a tartan pattern on it only a few months after the accident. My Aunt explaining that she had walked past the scene of the tragic accident, on her way to Barns Station, later that morning. Very sad.
You're absolutely right Mark Bowden really was sort of the start of glam rock in the 70s I was born in 1972 so I don't really remember my hair was more the 80s but I really do love my bones music absolutely fantastic voice it's really sad you could have went on to do so much more
i remember him doing a video for a song in mid 70s on the rooftop of the arbourthorne pub opposite our house in sheffield ,he turned up in a flashy red cortina, you could not move all roads were blocked.
Marc was my hero and my idol in my teenage years. I still have every record I purchased in that time both singles and LPs! In later years I wanted to call my son after him, but I had two daughter's! Love you Marc. 😘😘😘🍍
such a shame how marc died. rip marc. you go to some beautiful places paul. thankyou for all you do for the ones of us that cannot travel for what ever private reasons :)
I visited the tree in 1985, when I was a young fan, and I was amazed by how small and skinny the tree was! I was baffled at how such a tiny tree would have been enough to stop the car. But apparently, after watching another clip on UA-cam about the shrine, the car would have hit the metal barrier first, then the tree, which made more sense. Still, it was very tragic all the same!

Yeah, I remember that quote. Such a Marc thing to say! 😁 Miss them both. Gone too soon...😏
So sad❤
No way unbelievable
So many big names died in 77
Marc did knock opera singer Maria Callas from the front page news of the day.
