    Sadly, Marc had went through a divorce so he had a will written up that gave his entire estate to charity if anything happened to him. Unfortunately that was not changed before his death, so his son, and the mother of his son, was left with nothing from him. Albeit, his son's mom, Gloria Jones, is a singer in her own right, although her voice was damaged in the accident that killed Marc. Luckily, his good friend David Bowie stepped in and helped with financial support to get them through it until mom could get financially stable.

    • @whitebirchtarot

      I have always read that his money was lost, and no one could find it. Where did you read that he left it all to charity? I hope that’s true.

    • @bariwatts3430
      @bariwatts3430 9 місяців тому +5

      There was no mention in Bolan's Will of his estate going to Charity at all. The Will bequethed monies to a list of people but there wasn't enough cash in the Will to cover those bequests. Unfortunatley Marc had taken advice from lawayers to use offshore accounts for his royaties etc to avoid British tax. Ity was set up in such a way that Marc himself couldn't access any money directly (this was to keep his name invisible to the tax man) so monies had to be secured for him by accountants connected to the offshore accounts. The story about Bowie stepping in is not true, there was never any money etc involving Bowie. Marc's son Rolan now gets a yearly amount of money from the offshore account. Rolan also recently won a 2 million dollar court case against the American wing if Westminster Music re: copyright ownership of many of Marc's earlier songs. He won the case and copyright ownership of the songs. He later sold the ownership to Spirit/Universal Music.

      @@bariwatts3430 thank you so much for clearing this up. I had always heard that Bowie had given money, so I believed it. I’m so glad to hear that Rolan is finally getting something. I know the tax rate in England was, and perhaps still is, extremely high for people who make a lot of money, so I think it was quite common for people to have offshore accounts, if I’m not mistaken. It sounds like it wasn’t handled very well though. In my experience, the more brilliant the artist, the less practical they are. We pay for our gifts! I mean all of us, whether we are artists or not. Thank you again for this info.

    ok, people, anyone knows what scifi movie he wrote with Bowie and planned to direct himself in 1976 he was talking abt or he was just high and was talking abt The Man Who Fell to Earth he had nothing to do with? I really need to know.

      Bolan was notorious for taking the piss. He made all sorts of claims of how we had been trained by a wizard, how he had wrote numerous books that he was just sitting on, how he had written great screenplays, including one for Federico Fellini. None of it was true, he was just great at self-mythologising. He never wrote that with Bowie.

    He mentions Australia a lot and oddly holds a can of Fosters all the way through. Otherwise, this is the first interview I think I have seen of him and he sounds like he was such a smart guy. Shame that he wrapped his mini around a tree when he was still so young

      If you know his music, you know many of his songs reference automobiles a lot. He even named his son Rolan (rollin), but Marc had a fear of driving, and never drove. He did own the Mini, but it was his girlfriend Gloria Jones that was driving. Probably as good a time as any to mention that he died exactly one month to the day after Elvis.

    • @whitebirchtarot
      @whitebirchtarot Рік тому

      @@AFloridaSon I remember that day well, and I remember in an interview he said he hoped that he wouldn’t die on the same day as someone else who was famous because he wanted top billing. The opera singer, Maria Callas, died the same day Marc did, but I read somewhere that, at least in the British papers, his death was listed first. He would have liked that. That was one of the worst days of my life.
