- Hello everyone,
Today we bring you another awesome interview with another extremely clean build. This CRV is owned by Merlow and the modifications are straight from the JDM catalog. This is a tribute build for his mother who passed away very recent. All I can say is that he nailed it! We can hear in his voice the passion for this build and the reason why he build it. Although he started in the Honda game with Acura DAs, he has done an amazing tribute build with this beautiful CRV. I hope he continues to build upon it and stays in the family for the long run. First time I've seen a modified crv with a matching spare wheel on the back. Usually people remove them or leave the factory wheel with the spare cover. Looks nice 👌

I have an 01 crv and I want to do something similar to this, how did you get started on it, especially since parts aren’t usually made to fit this car
I've seen a sleeved b20 RS sleeves on ebay block for 1600. I wanna do a built Ramey racing short block b18c, only a few hundred more than a css shortblocked fr humble performance.
That's a beautiful crv. Throw a b16 head on cams n valve train.

Bought my 2nd CR-V Rd1 in Early August 2022 since Dad passed away mid July 2022, I've been putting all my heart, love, and depression in building it. This Video really hits home. THANK YOU, really was uplifting ..been out of the Honda scene since 2000, i really want to give This Man a huge hug, because its very similar to what i'm going through. Beautiful CR-V! and a good dude!!! He didn't even get upset at all the "teasing" .... Honestly RD1 with manual and AWD will leave that APC spoiler accord in the dust on a canyon road, or track..... I've owned a CR-X, 3 integras (including a b18c5 version) , civic wagon AWD, RX-7, MR-2, WRX, S4 just to name a few, and i drove them hard .. the Mighty CR-V RD1 will be in your rear view mirror getting closer and closer.... please dont tell anyone!
Man I know I'm a little late on this comment but I lost my dad in July of 2022 and I'm taking all my emotions out on building my bagged v and restoring his 1960 corvair into the lowrider he always wanted to build he always encouraged my builds even if they weren't his thing but always thought my rd1s were cool cuz they were different and confidently my rd1 is his favorite color keep your chin up man and don't give up on the build even if you hit a hurdle step back and go to the drawing board
Yeah that engine fits that car perfectly. Looks more original...

Man one ☝️ of the best crv I seen in awhile. Man his story hit me hard cause I also lost my mom Mother’s Day 2018. And it’s tough. Clean build. Honda baby for the win 🏆

Very tidy CRV, however, it is a "Real-Time 4WD" rather than an "AWD". Only when the front wheel loses traction does the rear wheel start spinning. Honda fooled many by making the number "4" look like the letter "A". AWD mean all 4 wheels are spinning simultaneously (Evo, Subie, etc.). To put it simply, Honda's Real-Time 4WD is an automatic 4WD system.

When you change your steering wheel to that up there, the chance of you Walk away from a bad accident is slime, no air bag equal crack skull, be wise ppl those are for track cars, I digress

Very clean rd1 I have a 97 awd lifted 3 inches put a jdm b20 with a high compression pistons decked block and a p8r head with some headwork/ cams a thinner head gasket it it will move pretty good
Red top h22 with the stock crv trans would be lit.
H would be the move huh.
Hybrid will be better, b20 block with b18c/b16b head
i have a 2000 crv ex. and this build is exactly what i imagine my dream to look like, minus the manual and paint. but everything else, immaculate.

There’s builds that are nice and then there’s those with “top of the line” builds….. on this channel, this is def top 5 maybe 3 because that red S2000 with the big wing is my favorite

You can do it. It takes time. BC seems to make coilovers for every car outhere lol
When money is no object. Can make any older car look "fresh & clean". I have a 2004 Toyota rav4 5 speed manual if I had the xtra $ i would hook it up.

Nice build and dedicated interest.. I have a 99' 4wd 5spd crv, funnest best car I've ever owned! Find a decent one you won't regret it, high compression b20b preferably.
leave the motor as is. enjoy it it's bad ass. dealing with registration on a swap can be a bitch. no matter how fast it is. speed limit stays the same

I have a feeling I knew the person that orchestrated it. But at the end of the day it was a lesson learned.
H2B!!! You won't be disappointed! Plus you'll be able to keep the stock trans with the awd. H2B all the way! You could always add a turbo or some nos if it's not as fast as you want. The h22/h23 is also a great platform for an all motor build too.
Drivenfilms on UA-cam can give you some ideas on how to build it too

I knew a few people that had jacked up AWD CRV's with turbos and swappers on them. Fun little mud trucks.

Found a manual, AWD RD1 that I'm probably going to buy. My biggest struggle is finding some wheel specs that looks good on a set of BC coils.

I bought my first car, 2001 crv se last year and I just lowered it with a cat back exhaust. Bought my suspension and cat back at the yonaka website! Watching this makes me want to keep going, this is such a clean build!

CRV RD1's are a marvelous, Japan made vehicle.
It was the first model so really went & were through in quality was outstanding. .
if i where him id build that motor, ad a turbo, tune it and call it a day... 2 step with flames shooting

Beautiful ride and a great story! Mine is similar, but my Mom is still living, she just can't drive anymore. I now have her white 2000 LX (auto, 2wd) with 125k miles. My wife and I flew out to California and drove it back to Georgia. Mostly I've just cleaned it and added coilovers, CAI, Android head unit, converted to smooth roof, passenger side armrest, and Mustang SVT 17" 5-spoke wheels (a gift from a friend). Now I'm rewinding this video like mad to make my shopping list. :-D Where did you find the hood? Is it full CF? The center armrest - is that JDM/factory?
