Finally! So tired of reading arguments on forums. Don’t leave a thing out man!
Thanks for sharing Devin. 👍!
I agree, I discovered more overlooked things watching your videos than reading those old forums
Much agreed thank you for documenting this process
Only thing that would make this better is links to the products that you bought but thank you so much for this video!
I can add links, but I really didn't buy most of this trough Amazon. What did you need?
@@Donnythelatemodeltech my bad just now seeing this, where did you pick up the head plug, and the vtec oil return line? also a link to the gates water pump kit would be sweet
Yes I have a 301 k manual 2000 crv that I'm currently about to do this to and your video was greatly appreciated I will be tryna daily boost it with the s1 build driveshaft and locking plates cuz those stock driveshafts arent too great with more power
Can you give me the link for the oil supply line at around 2:30 please
I bought a car with this setup boosted. Wanting to tune it up and get it tuned. When looking for spark plugs and wires, am i getting those for the b16 motor? Or is it wires for a b16 and plugs for a b20? Someone please help me
Just found your channel. Your content is badass. Keep going ma friend. And i am sure that crv wants k24 block with k20 head😈
Appreciate it!! And yes when this b series pops, k series is going in.
Looks great 👍 I can't wait to see the finished build! 😁
Philippines people must wake up to the fact that eez is not Philippines territory. It's international waters. Eez Entitlement to resources does not meant entitlement to the territory of china and Taiwan.
China and Taiwan owns SCS before unclos even existed.
Awesome video and that RD1 is just right up my taste!!! always been a fan of RD1 but this time your crv 😊
Thanks man, you got a nice channel brother!
@@Donnythelatemodeltech thank you::: love how your rd1 sounds sadly we on the other side of the world for a beer 😅
@@SRDmotorsports 🍻
Did you sell this a while back? I think I saw it for sale on marketplace.
what did you do for jumper harness for dizzy? and tuning?
Awesome build dude, I run an Opel Vectra (GM car) electric/ hydro power steering pump in my prelude, just two short hoses to and from the rack- that way you can toss your belt driven pump. You do need to be running at least an 80A alternator however...
Very nice!
What power steering pump and pressure line did you use?
Thank you so much sir you gave me confidence to this to my b20 (someday) you explain everything so easily
All the best
@@Donnythelatemodeltech will the b20 with vtec cam have reliability issue?
@@lunlun2930nah works great, no fundamental difference in a non vtec vs vtec block besides the oil port in the head missing which isn't an issue
Where does your compression end up?
Another banger. Still debating on Vtec/non Vtec just for the reliability sake. I forgot to ask you on the other video, being that your throttle body and IACV are automatic transmission units have you been having erratic idle issues?
So after the manual swap i did go to a manual throttle body and ecu.. / the car wouldn't idle high enough with the ac on... the compressor would kick on and off. Even with the ecu and throttle body. /Now the car is vtec, I'm running a socketed obd 1 ecu - p28. Using honda tuning suite it idles great, I have full control of the idle... ac on and off. Its a wonderful tool. So, it is more reliable now than ever... I see and control everything.
@@Donnythelatemodeltech that’s what I heard. Apparently the only way to totally fix it is to run M/T harnesses, IACV, and T/B. Thanks for the update good to know.
i plan on doing a b20 vtec would i be able to use a gsr b18 head on it? been seeing i can but no one i’ve seen has done it
Yes sir. Pretty much the same stuff , the intake manifold is where it gets alittle different.
What injectors would you recommend for a stock B18? I'll upgrade to VTEC probably next year but I kinda need new injectors now :S
great video! I always wanted to do something like this on my old Prelude that had the grandfather B-series, B20A but it was a bit more work because in addition to the oil supply, we had to slightly open up I think the 4 outer most head bolt holes (like the belt side and transmission sides of the motor) since those were slightly not in line with the newer B series heads, and that pretty much meant requiring a custom head gasket too instead of using its original, or a VTEC head gasket. Unrelated though - if you wanted to take it one step further, get some Integra Type R style pistons for the CRV block for extra compression and thus more high end power, and some beefier connecting rods to handle the higher RPMs long term.
Absolutely incredible video, thank you so much ❤❤❤
can you use a b16 water pump instead of b18?
i wanna do this so bad. i love my '00 CR-V but it is a bit low on power especially on long climbs at freeway speeds. excellent video.
What hoses did you get for radiator I bought a car that this was already done to it its in a 2000 EM1 civic want to change hoses but everything I order I always have to send back because nothing ever fits ...
Amazing video. 🙌 The B20 distributor does work in fact, but you have to cut an ear off to make it fit, and only one bolt will line up to attach it to the head. Not ideal, but it does work, if someone wants to go budget, or, if they want to just get it running before their new distributor comes in
I have 99’ Honda crv m/t thinking about install B16A heads, also want OBD1 conversions. Delete crank position sensor, knock sensors and eliminate down streams O2 sensors. Love it ❤ good job!
In your opinion, why do many people prefer to use Vtec instead of Mivec
Awesome video bro! Very good information. Looking forward to your next video. I still want to do a budget Honda build after my 32. BTW, very nice PPE on your steal toe shoe lol. You know, that's the real master tech right there. 😁
😆, I know you have the same work shoes bro..lol.
@@Donnythelatemodeltech I do actually 😂😂😂😂
You’ve kept the original cams and valve cover for this swap?
Hi i have b20 none vtec i will change vtec head how is the wiring im using p28 ecu
Off topic but you look like marks long lost brother lol
when doing the swap what kind of head gasket did u use cus in having trouble with mine
Does the new oil fitting on the head have a torque spec?
Why the type r water pump?
Teeth
@@Donnythelatemodeltech more teeth more cooling more redline?
No, more teeth = larger pulley. Correct length for the timing belt.
Coming along pretty nice! Part 2 looks to be a little spicy
With b20 should I buy b20b or b20z to put a b16 head?
great video, im planning on doing this whenever i get home from the military to my DA but bought the LS/V package from JHP so now the big problem is finding the right head
What size is the fitting for the oil line?
I'm doing a 98 crv 5 speed manual with itr head. What exhaust manifold or header do I use? Do I get a b20 header or one for the head
Got to use an b20 awd header. The pipe is going to need to have a curve in it to clear the awd transmission.
Did you do anything to the block or is it all stock?
In all the forums i would read in people would say to us different rods and pistons and back and forth arguments
Its stock
What mm gasket did you use for this
What head gasket did you use for head ?
First time doing a head swap, what brand and size torque wrench you using? Thanks in afvance
1/2 snapon
Great video, loved watching this . I want to have a b series b20 in my crx someday. Your garage is well lit and so nice! Super fun.
Always wanted a CRX. Most appreciated Dan. Take care man
Great video explaining
I have a question what oil pump did u use?
👍🏽👍🏽
ACL race
made it look so ez
Liking the upgrades
Did you have to take the head or block to machine shop prior to install?
I would recommend it.
What does your tune look like in this thing?are you able to send me the map?
Street tune, you probably wouldn’t want it
This looks like a fun projects, will it pass smog? Or you don't have to where you are?
No smog in Texas. Its converted to ob1... so I will not be able to renew the registration this year.. but next year it just has to pass a safety inspection and I'm good.
@@Donnythelatemodeltech Awesome! Everything here has to be 1976 or earlier to be smog exempt. Otherwise you need a special exception that takes an act of god to be given.
Im so confused on the part where you torque the head bolts. Overall it’s 80ft pounds. So you first torque it to 20 and then you torque it to 60? Aren’t you supposed to go 20 first and then 80?
20 60 80 with arp studs. Oem bolts 20 60. I didn't record the 80ftlbs step. I got a phone call during the recording and just forgot.
@@Donnythelatemodeltech makes total sense now. Thank you!
Like the safety shoes 👟 😂!
Lol, the adidas slides are super comfortable, lol.
Hi bro just asking if my engine b20 im using gsr head
What’s up?
Can you rev to 8K rpm with the stock B20 rods?
I can, but, no sure for how long.
@@Donnythelatemodeltech Haha, SEND IT!
Where does the b 16 head came from which car? Im new at this
1999 civic si
What head gasket did you use please and thanks
I'd recommend golden eagle gasket as it's made for ls vtec.
Does taking the oil from before the oil filter lower oil psi, require more oil to run or starve the system from lubrication?
I don’t think it affects the psi, I do run alittle more oil though
I actually think most oil filter sandwich plates run filtered oil out of their ports. It usually doesn't bypass the filter.
Great explanation nice video bro
Most appreciated!
Dowel pin go to intake side?
Recommend exhaust side, I don’t it really matters …….
Where did you get all your hardware? Like the plug to stop the oil on the head
It’s a blox VTEC kit
@@Donnythelatemodeltech great 👍 thanks
Does the head need to be bored to work?
Best , to have the head resurfaced before installation.
👍👍👍
Great work bro! Can’t wait to start working on mine 🔥
Thanks Brother 👍!
love it
Thanks for sharing bro!
@Donnythelatemodeltech Thanks Donnie for the series. Trying to have all the parts on hand when I do my conversion. What radiator hose did you go with? Have a part number or link?

Some of those details are in this video ua-cam.com/video/CMvlWWGte0Y/v-deo.html
Thank you. I somehow missed it in that video.
@@Donnythelatemodeltech Sorry man, one more...What B16/B20 step-down dowel pins did you buy that went over the APR head studs? There are some you have to ream out and I'd rather not have to do that.

@Donny The Late Model Tech thanks, I picked up my 01 awd crv today so I'm prepping for next month. Head already has a burnt valve so perfect time
@@Donnythelatemodeltech One more question, did you just use a b16 coolant inlet housing? or what engine did you get that from? and then which hose did you use?
The Aisin kit on rock auto is better, uses mitsuboshi belt too.
is that a stock bottom end?
Yes
@@Donnythelatemodeltech how has it held up? do u worry when revving high?
@@whatsbehindu holding up fine, I did lower the rev limit to 7800
@@OilLightReset oh okay cool
Vtec more work than its worth
U think so?
Honestly, it's a great upgraded , the car definitely has way more get up and go. Totally worth it to me.
