  • In this video I show you how I removed/cleaned/refit The Delphi Diesel injectors on a Jaguar x-type
    Diesel fuel pipe union nuts 17mm
    injector removal open sided Socket 21mm
    Injector central holding for electrical connection 13mm narrow open ended spanner
    Injector retaining cap 15mm Hex 60Nm
    Injector to cylinder head 47Nm

    Very brave ,1 point when using sonic cleaner, you place items in a basket, otherwise the sonic cleaner doesn't perform as well

    Thanks for the very useful tips and a awesome video ,
    Mine doesn’t start at all , it’s like nearly nearly i also heard that little sound before starting and didn’t started, I also pulled it with another car and used spray,same but now seeing it’s kinda easy to take the injectors out for a clean that would be the first thing on the list to do if after still doesn’t start i can easy blaim the fuel pomp

      Good luck, hope the cleaning works and it runs better again. i changed the regulator on the pump, which is relatively easy to do, but this did nothing and was part of the elimination process along with the fuel rail pressure and again the same, don't waste money and go for a clean as it costs very little really :-)

      Well thanks for your quick response, as i said i took the injectors out, went to a garage and the guy did a test on them and they actually spray very well so i will eliminate this for now.
      I’ve mounted the injectors back and it didn’t wanted to start😢
      Would it be a good ideea and cheap to replace the Common Rail Senzor
      And the camshaft senzor next because this could be easy and cheap before i do anything else ?Or i should take the fuel pomp out and maybe send it to be checked or fixed if it can be fixed, you mentioned something about some part in/next to the fuel pomp?! Can you elaborate a bit please

      Thanks, yes and no. Yes my car started when previously it wouldn't at all, but later found that one injector had a faulty solenoid, changed that one and now it run fine. I've also noticed more power than before and put that down to the clean. Worth doing for the cost of the cleaner and fluid IMHO :-)

    Hi, great video. I have ordered the same gear to have a go at cleaning these myself. Are you able to confirm what type of locktite you used please?

      I used medium strength 243, but I use that for everything. There maybe a specific type to use on these, but I don't know that it would matter that much as long as they are tight IMO :-) by the way; months later I've concluded the injectors are working better than ever with more power

    I have done the same ,, cleaned all injectors. but have not removed electrical connectors. is this why mine wont start, pressure? A very good video.

      You could try and start it with Brake cleaner in the intake, just to see if It will go. I did a short on this. Mine then started running enough to manually test the electrical connections. One test is to measure continuity (ohms Résistance) on each injector - open circuit - failed injector solenoid.

    Ben benieuwd als je die toevoeging in je tank doet of dat ook zoo goed zal helpen maar tank jij normale diesel of premium bij welke km stand heb je dit moeten doen ze hebben ook geen eindig leven

      I use regular diesel and don't use the cleaner in my tank. 170k Km.

      @@HatBoyHarvey ze zeggen als je om de 1500km eens een vollen tank premium er in tankt dat het ook je systeem reinigt zoals egr klep en injetors omdat de normale diesel minder lang goed blijft vooal op kleinere afstanden

    Hello. There is black smoke in my vehicle, I suspect the injectors. A friend of mine added cellulosic thinner to the fuel, used it until it was full while it was in the tank, and cut the smoke. What could be the problem for such a process

      I had black smoke inside the car; turned out to be the intercooler pipe at the front of the engine had split. Common fault. I wouldn't put veg oil in my car.

    this is a brill vid,, I have a 2.2 and they charged me 150 quid to Refurbish one injector ,,, Can I ask if your engine is moving a lot ? are the mounts going ?

      Thanks, This is definitely worth doing as it could help to sort a clogged injector. I haven't noticed the mounts or wobbling, but now you mention that I will have to have a look, thanks. Common thing that goes is the pulley wheels and belts on the left of the engine which start making a lot of noise.

    Did you perform a final (post clean) leak down test? Has cleaning made any noticeable difference? I suppose you'll only be able to tell once cold weather arrives. Nice video anyway.

      Before I cleaned the injectors it wouldn't start and afterwards it did so YES on my car it did, although it was still rough on idle and was still in limp mode. This clean enabled me to do further diagnosis which found a faulty solenoid in one of the injectors. Mine didn't seem that dirty apart from the nozzle jets which on some were blocked.

      ​@HatBoyHarvey how did you find the faulty solenoid? And where did you get the washers, then the solenoid kit ?
      I've also done the leak off test, two injectors 90ml in less than a minute the other two had 45ml.

      You could do the same even if you didn't buy a sonic cleaner and just soaked and aggitated the injector parts in a metal bowl I think it would help you. the only cost would be the injector wynnes cleaner which is brilliant :-)
