I find it a bit odd that where I live in the USA I can carry a pistol but something like this or the wrong kind of knife would be illegal. Anyway this project turned out cool nice job.

You're lucky you can CC buddy, some states like the one I live, the politicians deemed the 2nd Amendment not compatible and 86ed it from the law books. Gun laws need to be enforced by the Federal Government and we need Constitutional Carry in all the states.
@@seenenough1200 I agree, arming ones self is a human right, and I believe guns aren't the only weapons that should be covered by the 2nd amendment. knife laws are often ridiculously stringent like here in Detroit I can have my pistol on me at all times but if I have the wrong kind of knife I'm a criminal.

Looks good but I would prefer a mechanical connection with the handle, wood will expand and contract that cable flying out of that wood could really hurt an innocent bystander.

i use this too but with a thinner wire..i hide it in my belt and locked it in with the buckle😏it really slashes flesh quite badly i must say.
the problem with tactical whips for self defense is that they don't really have the ability to incapacitate since they aren't going to break bones or even get you a knock out, and they won't cut deep enough to be lethal. that actually makes them less effective than just punching someone, since you can knock someone out with a punch. pain isn't super reliable in a self defense situation since different people respond to it differently and when you are hyped up on adrenaline you might not even feel it until later.
@@yamiyomizuki i agree 💯,but i target the vital parts like eyes and the groin area. problem with punch is you could also injure yourself or kill someone bcoz when the attacker goes down if he hits his head on something solid or sharp i might end up killing the guy which i dont intend to do.

How thick is the steel cable?
12 mm.
A mechanical lock on the cable might last a few more strikes. Any ideas? I would like to know.
A hole drilled across the handle at 2 points 90 degrees to each other to accommodate 2-3 mm pins would be great and a two spot welds at the top or crimping with a press will make it last long.

Я бы сделал заострённый конец на рукоятке и обжал/приварил гильзу на конце троса.
Чтобы гильза улетела, надо достаточное усилие приложить для сдвига. И так сойдёт. А стеклобой для добивания назгулов это тема!
