As I explained to my wife last night, Harry’s Garage keeps me abreast of what cars we should have were we fortunate enough to be able to afford them. I may never have the opportunity to drive them, but I can enjoy Harry’s pleasure and joy vicariously.
Harry, during a visit to the factory the question was asked ‘why the doors swing upward on opening’ on all of their models. The explanation was that most vehicles are sold in North America. Over there, the kerb edges are considerably higher than European, so to prevent the door edge whacking the kerb, they are designed to swing upwards and clear the edge - clever! 👍
I cannot imagine parking this car on the street anywhere in the US, let alone parallel parked against a kerb with some idiot in front and behind. I would in fact advise against it. I feel like the upswing is more of an ergonomic thing. It allows you to get into the car with a little wider opening without opening the door as far.
@@NarcFreedom you’ve never been to Beverley Hills then if you think these kinds of cars aren’t parked on the street. When I was there they had Veyrons parked outside the shops. The kerb explanation is perfectly valid as imagine opening this length of door onto the footpath if it had traditional hinges - would be impossible to not damage the underside of the door.

Great review and objective. I really love my DBS and just enjoying a plan B after the Imola GP was cancelled. 5 days driving through Italy and France really proved the GT capability. Relaxed fast and comfortable to drive the car seems to attract positive attention that my 911 didn’t and the engine is just a gem especially out of a toll plaza. But the fact they didn’t sort that centre console for the DBS made it feel like an older car, too Mercy for the money. And why oh why oh why nobody in Aston clocked that the timeless factor of hiding the infotainment screen when not in use was essential is beyond me. What makes their old cars great is the fact you can take a 2005 vantage all the way to a 2016 v12 vantage and although the waterfall dash was improved and modernised over the years the terrible screens could be folded away and no matter which era car you had you’re only left with a lovely dash and the age of the car didn’t enter into it. Such a big misstep by AM to knowingly start with an old Merc system and then not mitigate that by allowing the screens to fold away when not needed. New Vantage isn’t as bad because the dash itself is designed better and the screen isn’t as intrusive but DBS with the old S class console just never sat right. They should have redesigned that for DBS and warrant the additional cost of a V12 DB11 imo. But someone ought to be driving a new V12 off a forecourt somewhere. Proper boys toys. Thank you, Aston Martin, for making our existence better. Sorry, Greta, not sorry.
Found myself on the test route by accident on Friday. Not quite the driving experience in a Merc CLA, but still cracking. Pretty thing, the DBS, goes in the dream garage as the GT (older NA please).
Really enjoy your videos. Do you think it's ever possible you could get your hands on a C8 Corvette, or a Lexus LFA and do a review. I'm sorry. And a Porsche 959.
What has happened to Harry’s Espada, I have not seen it in the garage background shots for a while. I think it is having some work done to it . I love that car and can’t wait to see it back again.
The most attractive variation of this model by far. It is large and probably not as comfortable (or elegant) as the Conti-GT, but it sounds as if it is more sporting to drive. Great exhaust note, the popping gurgle is intoxicating. Never understood nor liked the greenhouse treatment near the B-pillar but the changes to the body and the headlights are much welcomed. What a prize. The dash cluster looks a little too over-designed, like a leftover prop from the Batmobile, and it never looked right with the rest of the more sedate interior. Odd. On the outside, they got the proportions right and the way the fenders swell out on the for corners of the car is fantastic. Looks menacing, powerful and beautiful at once. It's a shame these cars depreciate they way they do, but it just means great sports cars from A-M are within reach for more enthusiast. Check Autotrader for the proof. I wonder what is next for this mark. Great review, Harry!
Nice colour, Fantastic wheels, Awesome sound, Interior what a letdown looks 10-15 years old, that electric storage cover would get annoying very quickly, utterly pointless makes it 10x slower than just opening it with your hand
Great video Harry. As an owner of a previous generation Aston I really didn’t like these. Recently the local dealer arranged an open day to drive the DBS both in Volante and Coupe and wow, just wow, what a car so the Ultimate looks good. However the EU have repealed the EV cut off (UK yet to) so the idea this is the last ICE Aston seems flawed. JLR have made a similar move and I think it is a massive mistake. Our Italian and German cousins haven’t! I just hope the next generation of Aston has ICE (maybe V8 / V12 hybrid) as an option.
The tires are "silly wide, but not daft wide..."

Externally, this will age very well. The centre console and barnacle on the windscreen are going to make it look so old on the inside.
This harks of the chunky late 90’s Aston Vantage!
The year that nobody makes a new V12, I will shed a tear. I’ll never own one, though I could. A car like this won’t fit my life now.
I’ve been living with the Mercedes control for a month now in DBX and I truly hate it (but love the car.)
Probably my lottery win car! Although it better hurry up :-)! Thanks for a great video Harry!
Such a beauty.
Hell of a colour, that.
Love this DBS. So cool looking. My favorite color too. Black. One Mean Machine.
What an absolute beauty, that noise is quite something. 😳
The car is awesome and Harry is just as good🥰
Fantastic content.

Nice colour,
Fantastic wheels,
Awesome sound,
Interior what a letdown looks 10-15 years old, that electric storage cover would get annoying very quickly, utterly pointless makes it 10x slower than just opening it with your hand
