Nice to see buttons - they work, have always worked and are not stupidly annoying. You are quite right about the integrated screen - much better than a glued on i-pad.
Agree 100% on the looks, I especially like the styling at the rear with the "wide hips" look. A small disappointment for me is the use of a Mercedes derived V8 rather than Aston's own V12 but it appears the performance certainly doesn't disappoint! Hip hip hooray for the return of manual knobs and switches, AND a REAL, old fashioned owner's manual!👍Maybe I'm just a grumpy old git but I find thumbing through the manual of a new car or bike, with a cup of tea, really enjoyable.😀
At 5:11 its great to watch Harry's genuine delight of the interior. Great looking car from Aston Martin, also love the colour on this one. The only thing that I would have made it perfect is if it had a V12, but that AMG V8 is an awesome treat nonetheless. Awesome review as ever.
The interior is beautiful, i love that they didn‘t stick a big screen above the dash.. the outside is gorgeous! Only thing i am a bit worried of is, when the bonnet was open, it looks like everytime they have to do something on the engine, you almost have to disassemble half of the engine..? But maybe i wrong there.. thanks for the video!
Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking. I laughed out loud when I momentarily thought about crashing into one them at the beginning of my test drive. A true Homer Simpson moment. Doh!!
There's a cincept which has been used in jet fighters for decades, called HOTAS, hands on throttle and stick; many differently shaped and sized buttons which the pilot, once used to the cockpit can operate by feel and muscle memory, thus keeping his eyes outside the cockpit and thus stay alive by not being distracted, eyes-down. Obviously, when driving a car, one isnt trying to feed a missile up the enemy's tailpipe, or avoid incoming fire, but a saftey element still applies imho. Im not a fan of touchscreens in cars either, especially given the potholed state of uk roads.. your finger bounces around the screen! If youre just flicking a switch or turning a knob then your digits have less chance of slipping off and your eyes are still looking at the road ahead (once familiar with the layout). Cracking video as always, Harry. Thank you sir!
Harry, every Sunday I get to go to lunch at work looking forward to an excellent video on this channel, and it makes the Sunday work day so much more enjoyable. Thanks for all you do.
Harry, thank you for the D B 12 video. Fantastic review as always. Also, your review on electric vehicles and why you have bought a three litre Diesel good choice !!
A vision of beauty, and the interior is so classy, with the integrated infotainment screen. Had a 2023 vantage for a day last year and it was so bitty inside with a small stick up iPad etc., thanks for sharing Harry
The “bong” sound we hear happens every time an oncoming car passes by. It’s as if it senses the gap between cars is going to be small and warns the driver to keep to the outer edge of the road. Perhaps there’s an option to turn that off buried somewhere in the menus. Great review as always, and a fantastic, real alternative to a Ferrari or top of the range 911.
Harry, that is a great video on electric cars, there are a lot of people that are fooled about the cars, the resale value drops very fast because of the batteries loss of power, and also no one ever mentions what becomes of the spent battery and the pollution that may occur from them.
I think the car is colour sensitive... I walked past the Aston Martin Park Lane show room yesterday afternoon. They had two DB12's in the showroom, one in all black and one in deep green (I'm sure there is a special name for this green.. ). The dark green looked fantastic while the all black just didn't do the design, curves and stance justice. I feel the same as this silver and black option. And there are better interior finishes options. But they are great cars...
As Jeremy Clarkson said "you feel like sitting in laptop", thanks lord, not like that in here. Harry I absolut agree, important buttons we can touch again, that is world class!
06:10 It’s amazing that you get all those nice feature in a cheap cars too. Our Kia morning has got all the buttons and nothing in the menu plus a printed manual. And yes it has a dedicated button for heated steering 😂. Sure you can’t compare the two but the functionality is 100x better than all functions accessible from the silly screen.

DB12 got the Vantage chassis setup from the firewall forward and the new Mercedes network topology, hence some of the new tech. Having driven one I hated the exterior mirrors the mirror moving as an entire housing I just found annoying, gear selector felt utterly cheap, my knee rubbed on part of the central tunnel and the Mercedes steering wheel has gone very thick unlike the previous one. It drove well though, gearbox is still the 8HP75 so it does limit ultimate torque unlike the DBSS. Harry also forgot to mention that Aston put the ediff from the Vantage on the DB12 to give it greater dynamics. A lovely thing overall, but a few points would stop any purchase (mostly the knee issue). Software updates are still very much a thing with the DB12 with some of the issues.
@Evan-McM just a very lucky current AM customer that got a test drive some time back and had time to chat. I know AM in general would need to do a lot for the AE31 5.2 litre to be euro 7 complaint so I would say the days are numbered and unlikely
Ergonomics in a Tesla? There is none! Whatever happened to protecting night vision. Huge screens are the opposite of good design. Fact is, buttons and switches are the best way to control things.
The DB11 design language is aging very well. It was a very smart move to make such a big change over the DB9 because they'll get more years out of the design. A bit like when i go to the barber and get my hair cut a little shorter than id prefer.
Glad this car has come out, very attractive looking and all the great classic features weve not been getting in modern supercars. Future classic im sure. Well done aston.
I also had a Morris Marina and I still have the owner's manual, which I am now studying. To be exact, it had 4 switches, one for the lights, one for the single-speed windscreen wipers, one for the heater fan and one for the quote: "Combined headlamp, high-low beam, headlamp flasher, direction indicator, and horn-push, switch" What more could you want in a car?
@@ChrisFEJackson Mr Jackson, good evening sir!!!, the Marina was a far superior car to anything modern, like you know, modern Jags and stuff! ;-) Hope you're well mate !
Harry, you are just the most lovely guy. My favorite internet car guy. I have this engine, an AMG version, with 605 hp and 900 Nm of torque (factory levels) and it is just a wonderful thing. It is so much fun to watch your reaction to this engine.
I have a bmw with the optional speed limiter, but you to have to set it to the new speed whenever the speed changes. Which makes sense when half the time the speed it says the road is is wrong. Can’t believe it now on on all cars as you say not fit for purpose.
I thought it sounded alright especially outside. Love the wipers having the clap-hand sequence. Looks great - I'd like the front grill in brushed metal but personal preference.
Couple of points…. WHY has a UK designed vehicle have to comply with EU regulations WHEN WE ARE NOT A MEMBER OF THE EU…. Cars sold in the UK SHOULD NOT have to comply with EU, cars sold within the EU is another matter….?? As for the car, FANTASTIC…..
Aston Martin seem to be back on track under the limitless pockets of Lawrence Stroll. I hope that they can succeed, as a proud symbol of British engineering. Great video as usual.
It does seem like a proper luxury car which is nice. The only angle i think it lets itself down abit is the rear quarter - a minor thing but they did once make a flawless looking car with the later db9 era versions.
It's nice that screens have taken a step back. I just think about the future when the tech looks old, and remember the Lagonda dash. Try to be as analogue as you can.
Good Morning Harry. This is Pure Aston Martin. The DB12 with the perfect engine, plenty of Horses underneath the bonnet, the outside kerb appeal, absolutely Stunning. Aston Martin have got it wright. This is such a Beautiful and Gorgeous vehicle that has been created. Thank you.
The DB12 is a LOOKER ! This redesign will stand the test of time no doubt ( timeless looks ).... The interior now looks bang up to date. Then there's the power !....Yep, I'll have this over a : Roma or Bentley GT , all day everyday.........Good job Aston
Thank god! Aston Martin should be rightly praised for bucking the brain dead trend that is the slab of lazy and dangerous touchscreen. Nice to see effort and intelligence that’s gone into a proper interior.
Yes, those interior dynamics & erganomics are far better than we have seen from Aston for a while.👍🏻 However in the UK we should not any more be forced to follow EU regs on cars sold here. Great vid Harry! 😃
Massive screens are sold as high tech but the real reason is cheapness. It is easier to stick an iPad on the dash than to have proper switches and rotary controls which are simpler and safer to operate while driving. Some cars even have the lunatic feature of needing to find the function on a screen to open the glovebox.
The speed limit warning is a real concern for anyone considering a new car. I read about the new Mazda 3 being delivered to unsuspecting buyers with the speed limit warning that couldn’t be switched off. Not sure how accurate the story was but unfortunately it’s coming.
Well you should know before buying - most I heard of you can switch off - even program a "Hot button" is most common. Diidn´t hear this story. But software can always be changed.
Strange how buttons have now become a luxury item
^This.

Yes you took my thoughts to typing - exactly!
Luxury will be actually driving your car in the not so far future 😅😅😅

A lovely thing overall, but a few points would stop any purchase (mostly the knee issue).
Software updates are still very much a thing with the DB12 with some of the issues.
You seem to have more intimate knowledge than most, do you know if a V12 variant is coming?
@Evan-McM just a very lucky current AM customer that got a test drive some time back and had time to chat.
I know AM in general would need to do a lot for the AE31 5.2 litre to be euro 7 complaint so I would say the days are numbered and unlikely
I watched this on my work phone so I apologise if it looks like I haven’t watched this from this address. Another Harry gem
I've been waiting for this one.
WOW! I didn't even know there was a DB12. Too answer your question, not too much power. Love it!
Ergonomics in a Tesla? There is none! Whatever happened to protecting night vision. Huge screens are the opposite of good design. Fact is, buttons and switches are the best way to control things.
The cutout in the front bumper for the radar is incredibly irritating
The DB11 design language is aging very well. It was a very smart move to make such a big change over the DB9 because they'll get more years out of the design. A bit like when i go to the barber and get my hair cut a little shorter than id prefer.
Glad this car has come out, very attractive looking and all the great classic features weve not been getting in modern supercars. Future classic im sure. Well done aston.
New Vanquish is coming
Brilliant. Makes me want to buy another Aston. Well done.
I love the fact there are real press buttons - takes me back to my Morris Marina, that had real buttons too...
I also had a Morris Marina and I still have the owner's manual, which I am now studying.
To be exact, it had 4 switches, one for the lights, one for the single-speed windscreen wipers, one for the heater fan and one for the quote: "Combined headlamp, high-low beam, headlamp flasher, direction indicator, and horn-push, switch"
What more could you want in a car?
I owned a 1.8 TC. It had an analogue speedo and rev counter. Proper car.
Haha I know what you mean. Levers for main air vents, I had a 1.8, I thought that engine was bullet proof!
How did you avoid falling pianos?
@@ChrisFEJackson Mr Jackson, good evening sir!!!, the Marina was a far superior car to anything modern, like you know, modern Jags and stuff! ;-) Hope you're well mate !
Harry, you are just the most lovely guy. My favorite internet car guy. I have this engine, an AMG version, with 605 hp and 900 Nm of torque (factory levels) and it is just a wonderful thing. It is so much fun to watch your reaction to this engine.
Fantastic video's as always, but can we have a what watch your wearing segment Harry ?
Yes noticed his wearing a Batman
Looks like a GMT Master
@@justinevans1894 couldn’t tell from shot you could well be right . Not his usual sub…
I have a bmw with the optional speed limiter, but you to have to set it to the new speed whenever the speed changes. Which makes sense when half the time the speed it says the road is is wrong. Can’t believe it now on on all cars as you say not fit for purpose.
The name's Metcalfe, Harry Metcalfe. 😂

Pouring without opening?
@@bennylloyd-willner9667 As in, on draught , not out of a can !! , i assume ????????? 🤔🤣
🤣
I thought it sounded alright especially outside. Love the wipers having the clap-hand sequence. Looks great - I'd like the front grill in brushed metal but personal preference.
Couple of points…. WHY has a UK designed vehicle have to comply with EU regulations WHEN WE ARE NOT A MEMBER OF THE EU…. Cars sold in the UK SHOULD NOT have to comply with EU, cars sold within the EU is another matter….?? As for the car, FANTASTIC…..
Ask Boris. He agreed UK would continue to adopt all EU car regs post Brexit.
@@harrysgarage proves how little faith these leaders have in its own country…… globalist dossers….
Aston Martin seem to be back on track under the limitless pockets of Lawrence Stroll. I hope that they can succeed, as a proud symbol of British engineering. Great video as usual.
Waited with baited breath for your review Harry, and you don't ever disappoint. Many thanks!
And the P R N D buttons have gone!
About time
It does seem like a proper luxury car which is nice. The only angle i think it lets itself down abit is the rear quarter - a minor thing but they did once make a flawless looking car with the later db9 era versions.
Who'd of thought......revolutionary buttons!
Agree 100% though, hate the telsa/ipad nonsense
It's nice that screens have taken a step back. I just think about the future when the tech looks old, and remember the Lagonda dash. Try to be as analogue as you can.
Like the look of this way more than the DB11.
Thank you.
"There are some mad people in Brussels "! Well said Harry .
Thoroughly enjoyed the vid., was eagerly awaiting your take on this classic British ride.
The DB12 is a LOOKER ! This redesign will stand the test of time no doubt ( timeless looks ).... The interior now looks bang up to date. Then there's the power !....Yep, I'll have this over a : Roma or Bentley GT , all day everyday.........Good job Aston
Glad to see Harry likes the new interior )))
Thank god! Aston Martin should be rightly praised for bucking the brain dead trend that is the slab of lazy and dangerous touchscreen. Nice to see effort and intelligence that’s gone into a proper interior.
Wow - huge improvement in interior design! This is like a next gen car.
A true gentleman in a gentleman's proper GT! One British legend describing another, the BEST of the BEST!!!
Love the looks. That vent from the top of the front wheel is 👌🏻
The speed limit warning is a real concern for anyone considering a new car.
I read about the new Mazda 3 being delivered to unsuspecting buyers with the speed limit warning that couldn’t be switched off. Not sure how accurate the story was but unfortunately it’s coming.
Regulators have to justify their existence.
Well you should know before buying - most I heard of you can switch off - even program a "Hot button" is most common. Diidn´t hear this story. But software can always be changed.
Brussels will want someone walking in front of a car with a red flag next ! 😊
@@pageant1fd yes there was an ancient British law about it?
Easily resolved....Don't drive above the national speed limit then....🙄
Loved this. More please Harry!
A lot of road noise for something so sleek...........the biggest improvement by far is the warranty!
