FIRST DRIVE: Ferrari SF90 XX - 1,016bhp Road Legal XX!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 31 тра 2024
- This is the new SF90 XX, and it’s very fast indeed. It has 1016bhp. It has double the downforce of the regular SF90. It’s also lighter. It does 0-62mph in 2.3secs. But there’s one main thing that absolutely sets this XX apart from all the others. It’s road legal. The first ever XX car to be able to drive, well, anywhere you like really.
But what about its track credentials? It happened to lap Fiorano in 1.17.3, making it Ferrari’s fastest-ever road car around their home circuit, 1.7 seconds ahead of the SF90.
In total 1398 cars are being built, split between 799 Stradales (at £673,584 a pop) and 599 Spiders (each £730,000). A quick reminder that a base SF90 is £376k.
Top Gear Magazine’s Head of Car Testing, Ollie Marriage, had the tough job of seeing what it’s like to drive.

Is this worthy of the XX name?
no
no
no
No
No also soo ugly
The fact they’ve said there’s a Spider XX on the way proves the XX program isn’t about track days anymore. It’s about driving around Monaco or Dubai in a car that’s rarer and more expensive than a normal SF90.
tru. it's the only reasn i got one
Dilution
as if someone would actually track AWD hybrid on narrow tires which weigh over 1750 kg
@@maximborodyuk3773What about a front wheel drive with narrow tyres that weighs 1035kgs? 😂
@@maximborodyuk3773sf90 already on rails this is different lvl 🎉
I think this should have been called the SF90 Speciale
Bingo! Because this is what ultimately it is. XX, like GTO, name bears an obligation to be worthy of that moniker
100%
100%, the fact it’s road legal dilutes the XX program. Can guarantee the clients who buy this will simply be buying it for bragging rights in the streets of Dubai.
But they won't be able to sell the Speciale, or the other half a dozen cars they change a bit and charge an arm and a leg for.
@@vokstar- Trust, they don't have a problem selling higher end cars
Does a road legal XX not defeat the very thing a XX is?
Or maybe cars are so advanced these days that they could do both?
Brings in the money
@@mattsmith4063yeah , mugs who buy it
@@stron2004 it’s more about the regulation road cars have to follow it has nothing to do with advancements in technology….
not to people with more money than sense
It would be much simpler and more logical for Ferrari to simply name the car SF90 Speciale/Competizione...
Exactly
Stradale.
I don't see what's the big deal with the model designation; it is a special, track-focused version of the car. Enjoy!
@@zix_zix_zix XX is always track monster and nothing can change it. Building XX for street is not XX. Anyway, I like the design of the car.
@@zix_zix_zix To put it in perspective, it's labeled an XX but is so unqualified that Ferrari themselves has barred it from participating in the actual XX program and events. Does that make much sense?
Make no mistake, this isn't an XX. It is just the special version of the SF90, so like the 488 Pista to the 488 GTB and the 458 Speciale to the 458 Italia.
They just named it "XX" for better marketing and to justify it having a big wing.
And a big price lol
Yup
An eye wateringly ugly wing and price tage
yup - I'd even argue that these days Ferrari's actual business is seeing how little they can give you and how much they can charge you. Then, even after you pay millions of dollars Ferrari will still sue you because you had the balls to wrap or modify your own car.
Why do people give so much attention to model designation? I thought the whole point was to find out if this is a capable car and an improvement over the regular SF90 or not. The fact that this car is road legal is a good thing, in my opinion.
Genius piece of journalism from Ollie Mariage, being able to diplomatically say it’s not a true XX car and not get black listed by Ferrari in the process
this 👆
Don't speak too soon lol
Ollie is an ignorant dolt. Ferrari is perfectly fine with what he said... nothing special on his part at all.
@@stuartstogdill2406
Precisely. Ferrari themselves has never claimed it to be an XX car in relation to the XX programme. That insinuation is as silly as when motoring journalists call the other VS cars track cars.
@@AB-80XYou're an idiot. It literally has xx in the name.
The fact it isn't eligible for other XX events actually raises the value of the other cars. The car isn't bad by any standard but Ferrari is finessing
ferrari is totaly cunt for using the xx name they should have called it a sf90 speciale or pista of whatever xx means track only race car its like ferrari private race club the fact that this car is not even allow to enter xx event shows that this car is not a true xx race car its not even enough to be xx car due to its street legal nature.
The fact we have more hypercar manufacturers than ever before, means they have to keep making things crazier and better to stay in the headlines. I for one absolutely love it.
You know, for what it is… it’s really underperforming.
Even SF 90 XX is basically outclassed by even 458 Italia despite it has 160bhp less than SF90 XX.

Ferrari's rules with their cars makes as much sense as their F1 strategies.

Ouch! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I'd add, historically, their race team personnel stratagies, too.

*We were on the verge of greatness, we were this close.*
Well actually, it equals 320 km/h, which in fact is *greatness* - plus 1 miles and it actually will be equal to 322km/h
Pretty sure no Ferrari XX has ever before had a top speed lower than 200 MPH…

I get the feeling that auto journalism is getting fed up with Ferrari’s antics.
What do you mean?
@@kevinpepin5304well the guy literally said it feels soft, the road legal tires and compromised suspension hold it back, and that it feels profit-driven. Pretty bad when he can't even lie with a straight face after Ferrari invited him out for a test run.

Another great review from Ollie, very well done! I wonder what's going to happen to the UA-cam channel now when Top Gear has been cancelled...I hope that they'll find a way to keep it going.
It's crazy to cancel it. Just shows no one is watching TV any more and no one is paying big money for ads on TV also.
Who wants to watch 12 ads 4 or 5 times in an hour program when you can watch similar things online with very few ads or none.
@@itisjustacommentmany of them are basically only paid a little for it.
I think they will continue this channel. Because the Top Gear magazine/website is still running. For example, this YT channel has the magazine editors also driving/testing cars. The channel is not JUST for the show. The Top Gear magazine/website is still going strong!

Beautiful XX with the b-roll wheels.
Wow, this is an amazing video. I can’t believe that this hypercar is road legal. It looks absolutely gorgeous, and the aerodynamics are out of this world. The exhaust sound is truly amazing, and I love the interior as well. The wing perfectly suits the exterior design of the car, and I personally think that this is one of the greatest Ferrari vehicles ever made. This is definitely going to be an iconic classic car in just a few years, in my opinion. I love Top Gear videos because of the incredible production quality of their videos. I would love to see the Koenigsegg Jesko being reviewed by Top Gear. Keep it coming!!!😍👌👌🏎🏎🏎🏎

The regular 296 recently destroyed everything on Magni Cours in France, like 5 sec per lap faster than the 911 GT3 RS with identical tires and the same conditions with the same professional race driver who drove the wheels off of both. The SF90 is supposedly quicker than the 296. And now this comes out. These Ferrari's make anything else look like it's from 2 decades ago in terms of track pace. Not many things can make a GT3 RS look slow in comparison on a F1 track.

Amazing. I agree on all points. Thanks for the honesty and truth. Much better than the constant pandering other publications do.
A very impressive car performance wise. Though not entirely convinced by the design direction of mid-engined Ferraris of late. The 355 with its simple lines is such an enduring shape.

I’m so glad Ollie brought up the de-valuing of the XX brand. It’s a cheap marketing move straight out of BMW’s M playbook.
That’s the most beautiful car I’ve ever seen
Ferrari’s used to be pretty cars with character. Growing up I was in awe when I saw a 355, Testerossa, Dino or Mondial in the wild. Not with this. This is another very fast and very capable Ferrari, like they all are nowadays. But that’s about it.
Yes, they are all about performance now. They’ve lost the beauty. And the simplicity. They are not only hyperfast now, but also hypercomplicated. Sad really!
Pretty bad take imo
Love it, reminds me of the Ferrari challenge and XX cars with a small road legal twist. Probably feels so nimble and agile around a track.

The SF90 Stradale is so phenomenal already so this car is going to be even better. Not true to the original XX program though.
Liking the new feel of Top Gear, you need more James Bond feel, and less buffoonery, only the Holy Trinity could pull that off perfectly. Like, you really need to poach Henry Catchpole, and bring in Nico Hülkenberg when he retires from F1 as your driving standard!

The SF90 XX is only about 1 second slower at Fiorano than the FXX Evo and that's with only one fast lap attempt. If Raffaele would've driven a few more laps then I'm sure 1:16 would've been easily doable. So it's definitely worthy of the XX name.
My car is faster than 60s F1 cars, doesn’t mean it deserves to be called one. For that thing to be called an XX, at least it should be faster than the last gen XX cars.
The logic of this statement is exactly that of Ferrari giving a road car with incremental upgrades a designation that has, until now, been reserved for track racing line.
