GTA sprint was changed early last year with the option to hold down the sprint button instead of tapping it. I think the tapping mechanic is still there and allows you to tap in time with the footsteps to maintain a sprint for longer. Its the same with riding horses in RDR2, if you tap in time with the hoofs you can gallop for longer.

I think an issue with double A games is that they don't have the marketing budget of triple A releases. But at the moment I'll hold off, I already have a N64 modded with HDMI out with the N64 Digital mod... and there's videos or full pics showcasing what this is supposed to be like... I'll wait for those before I jump in. As for controllers, I already have 3 N64 Tribute64 v2 Wireless controllers (need to buy a 4th, of a different color... but it's exclusive to a specific store last time I checked... only the 3 that I have seem to be the ones sold everywhere), so I'm not bothered by the exclusion... but might buy 1 or 2 later to test it out, if I like them enough... I might buy a complete 4 set.

I like when people are like "I think this is pretty good" and then find out it's actually not in the grand scheme. back in the days i had two friends that liked to play Resident Evil 5 or was it 4, in coop and they were getting some "high-scores" talking about multipliers and things like that (i don't know i haven't played the game), and were like, "dude we are soooo good, you wouldn't believe. i bet we are like top 20 players or something" and i was laughing because they were not exactly gamers, this was the first game they got kind of addicted. and i was sure that they can't be that good, for starters they didn't play it that long and for that many hours a day (we were in university). and i'm like "yeah, you wish. i bet you are not even top 50 in our (small) country" and they got offended. how can i speak like that without even knowing the game, they were doing only headshots and things like that. so i opened youtube and just typed the name of the game and asked for a level name. and opened a random video and the guys in it had like 5-6 times higher score than theirs. and i was like "look i don't even know if this is actually some kind of record for that level, it's just a random video"
@41:11 Yes Russ: exactly this. Analog now have a reputation for (somewhat) artificial scarcity of their products. This was somewhat justified when they were making new products from old parts (the Nintendo NES & Famicom games machine, for example) but to hear this is allegedly still happening, at least 2 years later, I'm sorry to be "that guy" but this is just encouraging inflated prices for resold product, as a business. Not OK.
PIXEL ART GAMES! Kingdom 2 Crowns is a good one. Please do a round-table with the guys and find out their favorite Pixel Art games. It would be interesting to hear what you guys like. My favorites are Day of the Tentacle and Thimbleweed Park. Darkside Detective is also a good one!
16:00 I hate how so many people (mostly pc gamers) always come with this "you need to zoom in to see the difference" argument... You don't need to zoom in when you're actually playing on a 55 inch 4K TV in your living room. The reason they need to zoom in is because most people are watching the video on their phones in 1080p or even less, and even if you watch in 4K there's still youtube compression artifacts. I can clearly see the difference between 2160p and 1800p for instance
Can you talk about game preservation, and the problems with physical vs digital in gaming, the reason I’m asking is all the new titles don’t seem to have the whole game on the disc so in 20-30 years will a PS5 physical game even work anymore if the game studio shuts servers down or goes out of business
I kinda feel bad for Bill, I know you’re kinda the host but nobody ever asks you what videos you’re working on etc. id like to know dude! plus maybe you talked about this off camera but if I was Russ I’d have totally offered to try and order you an analog N64 knowing you’d be stuck at work when the sale starts! AA, Well the new Ys 10 game, X because they use roman numerals. Seems very AA. Played the demo and I love it. I will get this on PC in a few days and play it on Steam Deck at work and also on my main PC at higher frame rates.
Edit: And this kids, is why you don't reply to things without watching the rest of the video. My bad. Good job 😄 Nice video guys. One point to note Bill (namely because I actually find if quite frustrating given the price) but the Analogue 3D doesn't come with the awesome 8bitdo controller. That's sold separately. In fact. OOTB it doesn't come with any controllers at all. I guess relying on the fact that if you have cartridges you'll probably have a controller. Also, presumably, the official Bluetooth N64 controller they released for the Switch should work too (I hope). Find it a bit weird that it doesn't come with a controller at all but I love the design of the product
18:28 to be fair... pssr is closer to fsr 4, and is likely an early version of fsr4. Fsr 3 doesn't use ai, fsr 4 and pssr use ai. It would be more relavent to test pssr against fsr4. I also don't buy that pssr is sony's baby, especially given how close the announcement of fsr 4 came to the announcement of pssr. Amd makes the silicon for sony.. i have to imagine this is a specially licensed version of fsr4 for sony hardware.
I really wish the likes of Anbernic would focus on increasing material and build quality while keeping prices low instead of releasing a new device every month. Especially now that these companies have been sourcing some very nice displays.
Thumbnail shows Spider-Man 2 on Steam Deck, but I haven't heard about this being possible. Spider-Man 2 will require PSN, and so far PSN can't be used on Linux.
@@Yuri-xx2giSpider-Man 2 will require PSN for singleplayer. PSN is the reason that Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer doesn't work on Linux, no anticheat. It's not known if there's even any anticheat in it. GoT singleplayer doesn't require PSN.
My AAA Game cost argument: Why the fuck do AAA game Developers feel the need to create their own game engine more often than not. Why the fuck do AAA game Developers feel the need to create all original assets and Character models for most games. Why cant they just re-use most assets, including Character models with small tweaks, or But/Rent assets someone else (or unreal) created.
I really disagree with the obsolete game mechanics part where pressing a button would be considered obsolete. The thing with analogue sticks is that their feedback is inferior to buttons, similar to the issue with touch screen controls. Experienced gamers will know the effect a button press will have and even anticipate that moment even before the button is pressed. With analogue sticks, there is a delay in this feedback especially when only moving it halfway because the player relies more on the visual feedback. What is outdated is not having the ability to customize controls. I can understand old games not having the memory/processing power for controller mapping with matching UI, but there's no valid reason why modern games dictate your controller mapping for you.
Totally disagree with the fps control scheme. I like the old halo style layout. Mainly though because I feel like fps games have gone coocoo, with jetpacks and grapples and zipzops and wizpoppers... Like I miss Halo 2 SWAT mode with nothing but bullets and jumping.
The AA game no longer exists because they would need to be sold for say $40, not $70. Then gamers would not pay for many $70 games. No publisher wants that. - Frank
Nintendo has always made aa style games so no they're not dead I don't consider anything Nintendo has made after gamecube to be aaa its always in the middle and we still get games like elex which are clearly that lower quality gameplay but still look decent
just wana bring a frustrating thing with steam to your attention as i think this this a fix when i sleep my steam deck in a game i may not come back to it for a day , in the mean time im gaming on my pc and go to wake my deck from sleep for updates soon as i wake the deck with no warning my pc game will shut down , no prompt so time to save just shuts down . must be a better way ?
The mechanic that never really made sense to me is weight. Let me be the hording goblin i am, if i want. It's a game. it's not that serious and just limited inventory slots in general. Always annoyed me and always will.
@Sasquatchburger-m9n its fine in a game when it's feature/purposeful. Like in the game god of weapons or as you said death stranding. I'm talking like in Skyrim with weight. I can already carry 100 iron daggers just let me carry 20000 more if I wanted.
@@LeoLiburon Bethesda only enforce a weight limit because of the burden it places on the engine. There was a time that having a stat to carry more was vaguely meaningful, but that ship sailed long ago.
Am I the only one who get irritated when people start mixing the terms of indie and AAA/AA and so on? Like one has nothing to do with the other. There is usually correlation, but not necessarily causation. Indie can be A, it can be AA and it can be AAA. It can also be B and C... And the other way around. Just because a big publisher is making a game, it does not mean it's AAA. If an intern at EA makes a game in an afternoon as a side project because he has nothing else to do, and EA decides to publish it, it will not make it AAA, not AA, not even A. It will probably be a C... Indie means it was created independently from third party interests. While the "lettering" is about the budget and scope of the game.
I wonder if the guys would ever do a Gaming NSFW special. NerdNest Afterdark. I guess not, as with any adult content, logistic its a nightmare, and all of them have kids, I think, whom I imagine watch, or will watch, their content at some point and that might not be something they want to be associated to in their kid's mind, and even if they pick like the "good", no family friendly, but more tame, vanilla content, there's still the issue that many, many erotic/adult game devs. are really iffy people, so, giving a voice to those folks is as questionable thing, at best. But man, will I love to see this guys really getting into the state of the adult gaming industry and trying all this weird, clunky and crazy games, that are really pushing the old definition of "trash food" those kind of games normally had. and they got offended. how can i speak like that without even knowing the game, they were doing only headshots and things like that. so i opened youtube and just typed the name of the game and asked for a level name. and opened a random video and the guys in it had like 5-6 times higher score than theirs. and i was like "look i don't even know if this is actually some kind of record for that level, it's just a random video"
I think I think of Wizard of Legend when I think double aa games. They're like said games that start indie, and the second title is improved.
Please go back & play halo with the “bumper jumper” button layout 😭😭😭 I promise it’s such a game changer.
35:31 If only something like this could be done for Dragon Magazine.
Like I’m sure you’d pay him back no problem. More love for Bill please. That’s all 👍
Just bought kingdom two crowns. Thanks Bill
My bad. Good job 😄
Nice video guys.
As for AA more people should give Flintlock a try. I really liked it. Kind of a Souls game mixed with God of War combat. Only 10hrs to beat. Good fun.
I love getting my EGM every month
18:28 to be fair... pssr is closer to fsr 4, and is likely an early version of fsr4. Fsr 3 doesn't use ai, fsr 4 and pssr use ai. It would be more relavent to test pssr against fsr4.
I also don't buy that pssr is sony's baby, especially given how close the announcement of fsr 4 came to the announcement of pssr. Amd makes the silicon for sony.. i have to imagine this is a specially licensed version of fsr4 for sony hardware.
i mean pdf can be viewed on everything... phone, laptop, ereader... not only iPads
Excited to play Spider-Man 2 in my steam deck. How will the graphics be?!!! Ahhhh!!!
Just do the story missions is my recommendation for spiderman
I really wish the likes of Anbernic would focus on increasing material and build quality while keeping prices low instead of releasing a new device every month. Especially now that these companies have been sourcing some very nice displays.
For AA games, I think you need to look at companies like THQ
Thumbnail shows Spider-Man 2 on Steam Deck, but I haven't heard about this being possible. Spider-Man 2 will require PSN, and so far PSN can't be used on Linux.
For multiplayer features. PSN is required.
It works on linux, it's just a log-in (people are playing the last gow on deck), what doesn't work on linux is easy-anticheat
@@WarAlex16 Singleplayers are asking that too
@@Yuri-xx2giSpider-Man 2 will require PSN for singleplayer. PSN is the reason that Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer doesn't work on Linux, no anticheat. It's not known if there's even any anticheat in it. GoT singleplayer doesn't require PSN.
Let's go!!! Spider-man 2 coming out on PC... I still don't need a PS5 lol
Have any of you played Hades 2 yet? Just wondering since the Olympic update just got dropped.
resi 4 on the wii you can swing the controller to use the knife or if you do it while aiming it reloads
I double press W to run in minecraft, but i don't like pressing sticks to run at all.
My AAA Game cost argument:
Why the fuck do AAA game Developers feel the need to create their own game engine more often than not.
Why the fuck do AAA game Developers feel the need to create all original assets and Character models for most games.
Why cant they just re-use most assets, including Character models with small tweaks, or But/Rent assets someone else (or unreal) created.
Oh wow 👌 another great video 📹 👏
I really hate Analogues business practices, but boy are their consoles cool as hell. Like, I'd kill for a Duo.
3 months is plenty of time to do Spider-Man plus the dlc as well as miles morales
Well… to Russ’ defense, I don’t think that the PS5pro is gonna make any difference to his PSPortal…
Just played kindom 2 crowns. i think i got it on eale refently it was pretty cool kinda slow development, though
I'm All Ears...😎🤔
iam since some years a offline and indie (AAA,AA,A) player a good indie game is much better then a new battlefield!
I'll bet 10 dollars spider man will BOMB on Steam.
"I like unrealistic shooters" *proceeds to describe call of duty* lol
Thank god for Russ! This man has given me so much video game knowledge this past year
The AA game no longer exists because they would need to be sold for say $40, not $70.
Robocop : Rogue City - AA.
just wana bring a frustrating thing with steam to your attention as i think this this a fix when i sleep my steam deck in a game i may not come back to it for a day , in the mean time im gaming on my pc and go to wake my deck from sleep for updates soon as i wake the deck with no warning my pc game will shut down , no prompt so time to save just shuts down . must be a better way ?
The mechanic that never really made sense to me is weight. Let me be the hording goblin i am, if i want. It's a game. it's not that serious and just limited inventory slots in general. Always annoyed me and always will.
Yeah that's me as well. I'm always groping that bag of holding.
There was a time that having a stat to carry more was vaguely meaningful, but that ship sailed long ago.
state of decay 2, but as far as my understanding sod 3 will be more of a triple A
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is double A, to bad it had a bad launch
Lies of P best AA this gen
Nintendo Switch first party games are AA and successful
Or even getting into the history of the adult games in the days of yore.
Anyway, one can dream. Spectacular episode, as always.
Digital Foundry has a personality problem with the sidekicks who act like a-holes on social media, otherwise what they do is increasingly irrelevant.
43:59 "knee" deep in sports and girls 😉
Upscaling is not an advancement. It's a crutch to make everything worse
You can't possibly think it isn't an advancement, that's absurd. But it is being used as a crutch to get away with low effort optimization.
@@Lagrangeify It's not an advancement. It is designed as a crutch from the start.
PC Gamer and Coconut Monkey for me.
I'm very sensitive to framerate and input lag. 30 fps gameplay is the reason I got away from consoles 10 years ago.
Motion Twin, the developers of Dead Cells, is releasing Windblown this in a couple days. I would consider that AA
