H/H match update and End-of-Week Recap: ... ~~~Today's action: Brett's "pluck" delivers our champion her second victory (but even if Brett hadn't plucked, the entire rest of the panel had the winning answer). Today's audience match question: "Smoking ________" (My thoughts: Gun, Section, Hot) The celebs: Richard (Jacket), Charles (Car), and Dick (Section) The choice: Jacket The answers: Pot, Jacket, Prohibited (I didn't get a single answer today!) Our champion adds $250 to her haul. She picked Richard yesterday, but they didn't match. I'll still bet she picks him again. Richard is indeed selected. He's missed his last four attempts in a row, and matched 4 of his 17 most recent attempts. Going back a little further, he's matched 11 of his 33 most recent attempts. Also, Richard started the week at 199 matches, and I was certain he'd hit 200 this week, but he hasn't pulled it off yet. This is (barring a super-short game) his last chance this week... (No pressure, though!) Today's H/H question: "Texas _______ " (Texas hold-em? Texas Rangers? Texas A & M?) The contestant looks much happier with this question than she was with yesterday's. Richard takes a moment before writing. His answer seems to be at least five letters... The champion says "Ranger." One of my suggestions. The audience sounds enthusiastic. Let's see what Richard wrote... Their ESP finally worked! "Ranger." Richard scores his 200th H/H match today! (And Richard moves -- just barely -- back above Brett on the leader board for the umpteenth time.) ~~~The Week that Was: Five shows, five H/H questions, but only two winners this week. -- Richard 1/4, Fannie 1/1 Richard lost his lead over Brett in the H/H accuracy department on Thursday, but ends the week ever-so-slightly ahead after today's successful match. Coming into the week, Richard had 199 H/H matches, and I was sure he'd hit 200 this week, but I sure didn't expect it would take the entire week to do it! To put his accomplishment into perspective, the entire rest of the leader board combined has accumulated exactly 112 head-to-head matches. Or, looking at it another way, since this is episode 800, Richard has scored an average of one H/H match every four episodes! As for this week's other panelists: Fannie ends the week tied with Betty (again) at an incredible 50% success rate in the head-to-head! Charles hasn't played now for 17 weeks... (Despite having a track record of matching 51% of the time.) And it's been almost 8 weeks since Brett last played (in 762)... (Despite having a track record essentially equal to Richard's in the H/H.) Dick didn't get a shot at scoring his first H/H match. (But he got some practice drawing caricatures.) Della finished her second of three weeks without being selected for the H/H. ~~~Looking ahead to next week, our regulars will be joined by: -----Semi-regular Joyce Bulifant, back after four weeks away (and in her "proper" seat once again). This will be her 21st week (of 38). Joyce has only played the H/H four times, but she's matched three of them, so she enjoys an incredible 75% accuracy rate. -----Scoey Mitchell, back for his eighth week of 12. Scoey last visited in episodes 681-685, and still has never played the head-to-head. -----And finally, Debralee Scott makes her Match Game debut. This will be her first week of ten in that fourth seat. (For comparison, both Ann Elder and Mary Ann Mobley appeared on the show for ten weeks.) ~~~Finally, here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Charles - 51.0% (27 wins in 53 attempts). TIE: Betty - 50.0% (18 wins in 36 attempts). TIE: Fannie - 50.0% (13 wins in 26 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 41.3% (200 wins in 484 attempts). Brett - 41.3% (26 wins in 63 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 800, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")

I noticed the stricking resemblance too. Amazing.
I was trying to think of who he reminded me of.
