My best results come when I use the shape up aqua gel on top of kinky curly curling custard. Never thought I’d like the purple one the best but here we are
LOVE Curlsmith products. I actually use BOTH the in-shower style fixer and then the soufflé. Between using those and a buff overnight, I rarely have to refresh or restyle and can easily go 7-10 days between washes! 💕
@@fannypinka1973 Hi there, it’s a fabric tube that is stretchy. It’s also called a gaiter and can be worn in many different ways for different purposes. She has a video on her channel about sleeping options and one of them is a buff, I’ll link it here. You can get variety packs of them on Amazon for $10-$20. ua-cam.com/video/OYfU-BaNe6s/v-deo.html
I think the soufflé gives you the best definition of them all. The in shower styler does too, but like you said, it’s a little less flowy. Hard to tell the difference between the other ones. You could probably do a combination of two, like the protein one with some soufflé either mixed in hand or with the soufflé as a smaster product.
The soufflé results surprised me the most actually because I hadn’t used it for absolutely ages and this was my best result with it, I think because I used so little. It’s so concentrated. And my hair felt soft. The in shower one did give me definition but it didn’t feel as nice and wasn’t as bouncy. I definitely want to try a combo of the Aqua gel with a harder hold gel to see if I can best of both worlds
I think I liked the hydro Flexi gelly the best on you. My waves need strong hold so I play around mixing them. I unfortunately get Flash drying with the souffle and the in shower fixer. So I still experiment but haven't been able to get a routine I love with all their products. I end up using the leave ins, foam, and creams with a different brands gel. I am also weird and don't like the smell of any of their gels, but love the smells of the rest of their products.
Thank you! This is the first video I've seen with a really good breakdown of all the different gels. I'm just starting to embrace my curls and I'm nervous about what to pick because I have super fine hair that wants to curl, but also frizzes and loves to immediately turn gross with product. I know exactly now what I want to try from the curlsmith line! thank you!!!
Very interesting. I like Curlsmith, especially how they design their different lines so you know what to use depending on what your hair or scalp needs. This makes me want to try my own side by side comparison with their gels I have. By the by, that color sweater is very flattering on you. 🙂
Very helpful video. I am only 3 weeks into my curly girl method so I am still using the cheap products but I am feel I am ready to try some new ones looking forward to trying this line.
Great video. I'm at the stage in my curly journey where I've gotten fairly good at styling and even refreshing, but now I'm trying to fine-tune product selection. A side-by-side comparison of the Curlsmith gels is exactly what I needed. I prefer the more liquid gels in my 2c/3a fine, medium density, low porosity hair. Your results with the Shape Up Aqua Gel and the Hydro-Style Flexi Jelly appear pretty comparable. Other than the presence of protein, are there noticeable differences between the two?
The main difference is the longevity of the Flexy jelly. They both give lovely lightweight results but the Flexy jelly results last for days whereas the Aqua gel doesn’t quite hold up overnight as well. But the washday results are just a tad bit more spectacular with the Aqua gel. So if getting good day 2 hair doesn’t bother you as much then the Aqua gel would be the one, if you really want your results to last then maybe the Flexy jelly is the one 😄
For me it’s smell. I have good results with the orange line. It has a bit of “grit” so I have more volume but it’s so stinking flowery. The other lines are fruity smelling but still a strong smell too.
Marisa, maybe it is a silly question, but I was wondering, could you also combine the products? Mix them up, so you can have the best of both worlds? Thank you :)
So fabulous, your hair/curls really are gorgeous. Such health and shine. Thanks for the comparisons, shucks you had to wash a rockin wash day but both times looked so good. ☺️ I have the shape up aqua gel but think I want to try the soufflé. 🤩
Helpfull video Marisa :) Funny enough during the video I liked both the runny gels the most... I like it when the hair is a bit fuller, softer and yes, it has a bit of looser hair or flyaways compared to the thick(-er) souffle or cream .. it's just a preference, but strangely when I see the after picutres next to each other I would say the both "orange" products are 'winners'. I haven't tried these products, but the blue and purple ones both do have my attention , haha. Question for you: if you use the 'orange' line... it's more heavier (in a way)... do you experience that after one or two uses (washdays) products give great results but after some more uses they seem to be to heavy for all time use? (this is what I do experience sometimes with more 'heavy' products for my hair)
I thick hair wavy /curly recently had the blowoutout My is going back to normal I want to know what products would work good to help my curls and wavy out
Hi Marisa, I can't see what the name of the product is, but you show it at 4:12 it's with the purple coloured label. I feel that that one gives your curls so much volume, air and bounciness and your curls look so naturally iso product-y! I say, that bottle is a keeper, especially if you want to refresh lightly the next day, right? Great help, great video, thanks Marisa! Groetjes from Amsterdam
That’s the shape up Aqua gel. They are my fave washday results too! The reason I tend to go for the Flexy jelly is because the Aqua gel results don’t have the lasting power of the Flexy jelly 😃 and I’m lazy and prefer not to refresh 😅
This was a great video. Thank you!! Did you SOTC with an oil? I just purchased the soufflé and the in-shower style fixer. Can’t wait to try them to see what works best for me.
I want to try there products. I have highlights for very long time and I put heat every week. So how do I start I want bouncy and soft. I know they sell a kit but not sure if I can do better. I want to transition.
Thank you, UA-cam algorithms and thank you, Marisa! I just started by journey about six weeks ago, and am starting with Curlsmith. I love your hair!
Aw thanks so much! So glad you are here 😃
My best results come when I use the shape up aqua gel on top of kinky curly curling custard. Never thought I’d like the purple one the best but here we are
Ah brilliant!!! I’m loving the Aqua gel more and more recently, it works really well with brush styling on top of a curl cream

hi! what's a buff?

Oh amazing. You use them together??
@@MarisasCurls Oops, I got my products mixed up. No, I use Oil in Cream, then Soufflé 😉

Thank you!! Yeah they make it so so easy!
What an incredibly helpful video! Thank you so much! I'm eagerly awaiting my curlsmith order. Your hair is amazing! Beautiful curls!
I’m so glad it was helpful! 😍

This was super helpful as I’ve been trying to make this decision for myself. Thanks!
You are very welcome 🙏

That's really good to know. I do prioritize longevity!
Great video. I like soft.

Yes they do have a strong scent but in my hair they don’t linger and I do like the smells 😃
They now have a fragrance free gel which has worked really well for my fine medium porosity type 2c/3a hair.
Marisa, maybe it is a silly question, but I was wondering, could you also combine the products? Mix them up, so you can have the best of both worlds? Thank you :)
Absolutely you could!! I am keen to try mixing the Aqua gel with another stronger hold to see if I can get the best of both 😃
What is the difference between a curl activator, styler, curl cream, definer and gel/mousses? I’m confused
They updated the level of hold for the gel soufflé on the new packaging it is now marketed as a level 8 hold
Yes they changed it due to feedback from customers which actually fits with what I have always found with this gel and how it works in my hair 😄
Hi Marisa! Great video! Nice curls! I like the gels that have you fuller Md softer looking curls! I’m sold! Question… what haircut do you get? Thnx!
Beautiful hair and colour! and very helpful review! Thank you:-)
All videos are awesome ☺️
😍
Amazing! Thank you for this video and all the variations. 🤗🥰🙏🏽🌻🤓

well done video. I learned alot.
Wow, love the soufflé on you!!!
Thanks!

I have the shape up aqua gel but think I want to try the soufflé. 🤩
Aw thanks so much! Yes I was pretty gutted to wash out that first one haha.
I've tried everything ,nothing work ,I will give a go ,but I just can't get big curls like your ,mine are tight and I do the same as you 😢

I didn’t use an oil this time, just my hands to SOTC

I would suggest the Bond Curl Rehab Salve for sure to help repair your hair.
