I find that the in shower fixer leaves my hair feeling a little producty. I do, however tend to use it more in the summer because it’s a quick wash and go type of styling product.
Ty for this video. I love how you explained the ingredients & how they work in both stylers. I used the Curlsmith oil in cream tonite because my hair has been so dry & brittle since my last color. I watered it down because my hair is fine. It feels good now. I guess I will see how it works in the morning when I style. I will be using the Curlsmith Hydro gel. Hoping for a good frizz free hair day!😊 LOVE your videos! Blessings!
I really appreciate this video. I have been looking for someone who will be or who has reviewed all of their products or at least most of them. I will go see what else you have on Curl Smith. I don’t want to buy the wrong products if I can help it.
I totally agree with you. I really like their gels. And the scalp line across the board. The scrub shampoo is the only shampoo in the entire line that I like. I don’t care for the moisture line except for the gels. Their cremes? Not crazy about them. The 3-in1 is great and I don’t put it on my roots, ever. Try the Controlled Chaos line, it’s awesome, except you need a gel with the Creme (it’s great though).
Your hair on the in-shower style fixer side is GORGEOUS: so clumped and luscious. But I understand what you mean about how it makes your hair feel. I thought it left a residue on my hair. I haven’t been able to get it to work yet. I don’t understand why this gel flash dries bc it doesn’t have protein.
Thanks so much for doing these comparisons, I’ve been trying their products and some work really well for me and some not at all. I love their blue line and the multi-tasking conditioner. The purple line shampoo dried my hair out so badly, I’ll never use it again
I want to love curlsmith but like you I don't like feeling product and just can't get my head round diffusing and a cast as I prefer to blow-dry my wavy hair with a round brush and curlsmith stylers don't seem to do that well. If anyone has found a good curlsmith combo for doing this please let me know.😊
Thanks, that was helpful. Especially regarding the amounts you used. I tried the same products (cream and hydro-style gel, with foam too) and I had to wash it straight out as it was just a clogged up mass that couldn't be salvaged. I'll try again next gel style day and halve the amounts. :) I wasn't using a whole lot, just what I would use of cheaper products, but it was an unbelievable mess!
It can help to hold the moisture in to use a humidity blocking gel so it's not a bad idea to use if you need help with that. You need to make sure you use something with humectants under it though, as that is what helps moisturize your hair when it's dry. And possibly and sealing oil.
Hi there, thanks for the video. Did you say near the start of the video that the in style fixer was on the right side (as I watch the video- your left) and the flexi jelly was used on the left side (your right)?
I wish I had watched this video before I purchased! I'd never tried Curlsmith before and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about because their products are so hyped on UA-cam. I tried the Hydro Style Flexi Jelly and Full Body Thickening Lotion. The lotion was pretty good. The gel made my hair feel really product-y and I just see a lot of potential for buildup on my fine low-porosity hair. I'm glad I purchased from Ulta, they have a generous return policy so I can take them back. I think this brand just isn't for me.
I liked the results I got with the In-Shower Style Fixer but I didn't realize it had the Itchy M's until AFTER I used it, and I'm allergic to them. 😐 Luckily, I only bought the travel-size bottle and I gave it to a friend. Since then I haven't been interested in trying Curl Smith, especially knowing that a lot of their products are pretty heavy and I have fine hair that is easily weighed down. Thanks for the comparison, though!
Oh that's too bad but at least it was the small bottle. Their products are definitely a struggle to get to work on my hair but so many others love them.
I find the Curlsmith products quite concentrated compared to some others. I need to use less, and wet style rather than damp style. My summer combo has been the air dry cream topped with aqua gel. I’m wondering what to do as the winter approaches and the air gets drier. Any suggestions?
Yeah they are pretty concentrated so wet styling is key. For winter I'd say add more moisturizing products. This could be more leave in or a heavier cream under your gel, and deep conditioning more often. That cream and gel combo should continue to work.
This was a great comparison and very helpful. I've personally not been able to use the In Shower Style Fixer because of flash drying, I wonder if trying a more moisturizing cream underneath would help with that...hmmmm. I also don't love their shampoos, my hair is fine and weighed down easily - combine that with soft water and the shampoos don't do it for me. Have you tried the new Shine gel? I've had GREAT success with that one so far!
You seem lovely. I rarely get a cast. And when I use lots of product, it just makes my hair stringy and weighed down with a slight cast. I don't need a cast anyway so I don't care. And FYI, not all hair types can get a cast.
@@HolisticEnchilada I am lovely and my hair always looks nice. You definitely need a cast because your hair looks stringy and limp right now. How embarrassing that you don’t even know how it works and what a cast is all about.
I did use enough product. How would you know? You can't feel my hair by watching the video. My hair is very fine and thin and I always use a very small amount of product which makes some people (like you apparently) upset. 🤷♀️
@@HolisticEnchilada bless your heart. I can tell by the way your hair looks and the amount I saw you put in. My hair is also fine and then and a few inches shorter than yours and I use three or four times that amount I get a good cast and my beautiful curls last for a whole week. it’s kind of funny that you don’t understand how I can tell when I have eyes.😂
It's funny that you think you know what my hair needs based on your experience with your own hair. And that you're arguing about someone else's hair online. Have a great weekend.
@@HolisticEnchilada are you having cognitive difficulties? It’s not based on my hair, it’s based on what I just watched in this video, which was a complete waste of time. You didn’t put enough product and that’s why your hair looks stringy and lifeless.
I find that the in shower fixer leaves my hair feeling a little producty. I do, however tend to use it more in the summer because it’s a quick wash and go type of styling product.
I can see that being the case. It's great for humidity.

Yeah that is a common problem with this gel. I think it doesn't have enough emollients to combat the drying issue.
Thanks so much for doing these comparisons, I’ve been trying their products and some work really well for me and some not at all.
I love their blue line and the multi-tasking conditioner.

I still haven't tried anything from their blue line. But I do like that conditioner.

Question-In the dry cold winter months, do we want a humidity blocking gel? Or will the humidity blocking gel do a better job at holding in moisture?
It can help to hold the moisture in to use a humidity blocking gel so it's not a bad idea to use if you need help with that. You need to make sure you use something with humectants under it though, as that is what helps moisturize your hair when it's dry. And possibly and sealing oil.
@@HolisticEnchilada I know the red bottle of Ouidad and CS Shine Gel both have those humidity blocking ingredients. Thank you for clarifying.

The video is not mirrored so the side I say is the same side you see it as.

This is very useful, thank you ❤️ what clarifying shampoos would you recommend after using the jelly?

Very informative! How does the flexi jelly compare to the aqua gel?
The flexi jelly has better hold so the style lasts longer. The Aqua Gel is lighter.
The aqua gel IMO is only good for layering under another gel. For my hair, it can’t stand alone. The hydro flexi gel can stand alone.
How do you feel the In Shower Style Fixer compares to the CS strong hold Shine Gel?
I haven't tried the Shine gel yet so I can't compare. I have heard it's a bit lighter with a hard hold so I might like it better.
Have you tried the Bouncecurl Gentle Clarifying shampoo? If so, how did you like it?
I have. It's fine for a daily shampoo but was too heavy for me. I didn't find it to be clarifying at all.
I have straight hair..will it make my hair curly?
No it won't.

You can’t be surprised that you don’t get a cast, when you only use a drop of gel on your hair. Lol hilarious.
