I was accused of being racist by a lazy wight man because I was reading an African American romance novel on my break at work. If you're not wight, and you look for books featuring your own race, you're *obviously* racist because why even...Idk, chile, he was making no sense.
I got a good review for being a good employee, he got written up for being a lazy one, and the false accusations just piled up from there. I had an asian man/blk female book the next time, so he took a picture and showed it to HR the next day. Clowns be sensitive out here in these overprivileged, lazy streets! 😆

A few months ago, someone in a heavily white (rural) area says that I was racist for wanting and/or needing to be around more black people. He took it as, I didn’t like the people that I was working with on a daily basis (99% of them didn’t look like me). He called me racist for implying that I didn’t want to be around them. In all actuality, I just really missed being around the black population of my hometown. EJ, I feel you on this issue. Words matter. When you’re around people who look like you, they understand the words that you say. But for someone who doesn’t share the same experiences as you, it’s often tough to communicate with them the hardships and even joys that you’ve been blessed with. Keep on sending us wholesome content and uplifting others. You are a beautiful soul! Stay blessed!
Honestly I am not black but I grew up in mixed neighborhoods, mixed schools, and attended a HBCU for my nursing degree... And I feel like I need to be around black people more too. 😂 Honestly. The sense of community is just different.

Storytime: My sociology professor, Dr. Turner, told us that racism and racist are two of the most misused words in the English language. He asked us (a predominantly Black class) what racism was and if we had the ability to be racist. Well, to make a long story short, he got us together and let us know that being prejudice and racist are not the same. Racism has to do with developing and implementing policies, laws, procedures, and systems that put one group in an advantageous position based on "race", which negatively impacts other races economically, financially, emotionally, psychologically, physically, socially, etc. etc. We learned real quick that we do not have the power as Black folk to be racists or to institute racism in this here country. Prejudice? Yeah, everyone has biases that make them prejudice in some way but racist...nah...that's a whole different story.
