Good tip about that cutter. I was getting ready to rent a Sawzall for this. My main worry is getting a replacement cat that will fit between my O2 sensors and leave me room for clamping.
For sure, ya I couldn’t get a straight cut with a sawzall and then it would have been banging up against the cab and jumpin all around, and ikr they never leave a guy enough room do they!! Thanks for watching!!
I live in cali so i have to have CARB compliant catalytic converters . It costs 6000 dollars just for the catalytic converters if i buy direct fit . Im wondering if i could just buy cut and weld ones and do this and have it work the same way?
Flange weld failed, in front of '06 Taurus Cat, n I tried the Maddux HF ver. I wasted HOURS w/this thing!!! It seemed to cut deep enuff, but it never got thru, and eventually stopped makin progress. Thinkin the pipe above my Cat's THICKER, and exceeds the capabilities of this type of cutter... 🙁
Ya it was probably two prizes you were trying to cut thru so super thick so the cutters probably bottomed out before they got thru the second piece, bummer!!
Ya man for what they charge you can buy the part and the tool and still be wayyyy ahead, I think they wanted like over 300 bucks for this, no way!! Thanks for watching man!!
I have to comment that you should change the name from "easy" to "neat and clean". I thought I was doing it wrong after 25 mins into the first cut and it was still not cut through until I realized you cut a large section of your time out. I have been single WAY too long to not have the grip strength to be able to do this if it were easy.....
Not noticeably different, I mean diesel has such a overpowering smell (which I like lol) that I didn’t really notice a difference, but it probably did cut down on some of the fumes!
With the exhaust clamps there was none I would have to say, it was 3 inch free flowing pipe so not much restriction, runs right through, but the diesel is so loud you couldn't hear it if there was noise, but it clamps down pretty good, I never noticed any extra noise coming at all
good job but next time try a cut all saw and use ban clamps in case you have to remove it again for something and ban clamps seal better with no exhaust escaping
Bryant Partazana I actually cut the cat and resonator off and had it straight piped, but had to put a cat in there quick to pass emissions in Arizona, but trust me it came back out lol!!
Woulda been easier to pull that straight pipe out by removing clamps then take to a work table cut piece of pipe out clamp converter and replace as a whole then clamp back on instead of being on your back the whole time
I’m definitely not knocking your method but you you have got done a lot faster and easier if you would have used a cutting lubricant and the real key is to start slow and don’t squeeze so hard everyone wants to do it as fast as a sawzall just let the blades do their job
For sure a little lube never hurts right, yep that’s right it’s like cutting bread gotta let the blade do the work so you don’t smash the bread!! Thanks for watching and commenting bro!!
Right about where I put the new cat in, it was what they call a resonator/ cat combo, there were hanger locations in that location, some newer cars have them closer to the engine in tight spaces
This video has a few good points but lacks the "completeness" of a real end-to-end job. He admits that he is just half-assing it to pass inspection. Still, I liked it for what it is, and it doesn't take 30 mins.
For sure, it’s one of the first videos I did and I always think about what I should have said or done after I review it before posting, but then it’s too late cuz the pipe was cut already lol, only get one shot haha, but I appreciate the feedback, thanks for the compliment on the end, and I’ll keep it in mind for the next one!! Thanks for watching bro!
That cutting tool he's using, is horrible. The one I rented was dull so I bought a cheap saw at Harbor Freight to cut the pipe instead. It was worth the $20 for sure.
They passed it visually with it just clamped on? Fkr's just nailed me on it too. Pass the damn snap test, runs clean... but no cat so it failed. Bullshit.
I was told by a mechanic that I can not just change my cat.. then I was told I have a couple of cats. I asked how do you know which cat to change. He said just change both of them. Somebody please tell me the truth somebody. Oh… 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0
Well depending on the positioning of the cats. The universal ones might not be the best fit, and yes they are really expensive, but a good mechanic should be able to pin down the one that isn't working properly by what the 02 sensors are saying. Are you getting 02 sensors codes or what's the reason he wants you to change them? Mechanics like to lie to lady's since they aren't as well versed on vehicles, but good on your for doing your own research! How come they need to be changed?
@@gailglady795 sorry for the late response, that code is a code for the EGR valve, exhaust gas recirculation, which shouldn't affect the cats, and the egr valve may just be getting plugged, which without being with the vehicle it's hard for me to diagnose it, but another thing is your cats are worth alot of money, so maybe they want to replace your cats thinking you'll leave the old ones there, and they can get a couple hundred dollars scrap price for the precious metals, platinum and others, in the catalytic converter, so I would definitely get another opinion! And if you do end up having to change your cats, definitely keep them and take them to the scrap yard or call a scrap guy from Facebook because they are worth quite a bit. Ya something sounds fishy to me
Finally someone posting a clip showing that it isn’t just a 15second job while using these ,
Safety first but where the glasses though?😂🤔 great tutorial very informative you did a good job explaining and showing it.
Always safety first Carmen 👍👌

This is exactly what I needed to watch keep up the good work

Loved the video. Exactly what I was looking for and the cutters made it even better. ❤❤❤
Heck ya I’m glad it helped, appreciate you watching!

4 years ago…he’s still cutting that exhaust pipe
I'm just about through it!
Damn very cool man I've been researching and just found out about that tool. Seems way more precise!
The best way I did that in a past… I got some zip ties made it taught real easy to cut .. You did good though
Right on ya that is a great idea, never thought of using zip ties on it! Thanks for watching!
Finally somebody actually showed how to do it from beginning to end
Thanks for watching!!
“don’t forget your safety glasses” says the guy who doesn’t even have them on 😭😂
That’s how I found out they’re a good idea lol lots of debris
Gloves are another one that was forgotten, wait till he gets sliced be the sharp edge
I like to live dangerously lol! But that is true I should have been wearing gloves and glasses, and probably a mask haha jk! Thanks for watching!!
I like this guy. Who even follows safety to a T ?
If you were to follow safety to a T, you'll never get any work done.
😂🤣💩
Was still getting leakage around the clamp even tho it was clamped hard. Ended up using exhaust tape and putty, that it made leak proof.
If it works it works!!! Thanks for watching!

Is there a shear type tool that can be used for those? Or too big
I used tthat ttool tthe otther day had to put on new flex pipe man my body still sore from using tthat on steel pipes
Thanks for showing me this! I know I can’t afford to go to a shop for this.
Ya man for what they charge you can buy the part and the tool and still be wayyyy ahead, I think they wanted like over 300 bucks for this, no way!! Thanks for watching man!!
Did it pass when they hooked it up for emissions and visual?
Yep it passed with flying colors!!
I have to comment that you should change the name from "easy" to "neat and clean". I thought I was doing it wrong after 25 mins into the first cut and it was still not cut through until I realized you cut a large section of your time out. Hahaha oh shit man that made me laugh, gotta have gorilla grip on it ha, ya neat and clean may be better cuz I did work up a sweat!!
Glad I watched this, was thinking of buying a pipe cutter, think I will pass, and use a grinder
For sure, it ain’t too bad but a grinder for sure makes quick work of it!
Curious if you noticed a different smell in the exhaust with the cat on?
Not noticeably different, I mean diesel has such a overpowering smell (which I like lol) that I didn’t really notice a difference, but it probably did cut down on some of the fumes!
Does it work okay having the cat that far back?
Wait, did he not weld the ends of the catalytic converter to the exhaust pipe?
Taylor Hill no I used clamps so it can be removed after emissions inspection!! Thanks for watching!
What level of noise does the exhaust make from air leakage with it not being welded?
With the exhaust clamps there was none I would have to say, it was 3 inch free flowing pipe so not much restriction, runs right through, but the diesel is so loud you couldn't hear it if there was noise, but it clamps down pretty good, I never noticed any extra noise coming at all
I wanted you to start the vehicle up so I can hear how it sounded after the installation
Oh man my bad I should have, never even thought about it, it sounded good tho lol
How is a sawzall more difficult?
Good job save ttime n money I gott tthat same ttool from auto zone
For sure!! Thanks bro, definitely beats paying someone else to do it! Thanks for watching!!
@@Azkeyguy np n dam sure do it's already rough n on TTop of tthat we TTryna save every dollar after bills n rent paid

What is the gas direction trough it? is it arrowed?
Yep there is an arrow on the cat to show which way the airflow goes! Thanks for watching!!

Thanks bud appreciate you watching!!
very good thank you so much.
Thanks for watching appreciate you!
cool tool! Cleaner than my sawzall!
J Howard it worked awesome!! Thank you for watching!!!
For sure no Sawzall but it angle grinder hell yes and where you goddamn safety glasses LOL!
For sure the ol grinder always does the trick a lot faster!!! N I wore them during editing lol!!
Dude a grinder and cut of wheel from harbor freight is ten bucks and would have saved you so much time and effort 😂
I know I like doin things the hard way ha
What is the quality of the catalyst please?
Oh man idk honestly, I just got the cheapest one I could find so it would pass emissions
It should be a clamp lock on that cutter instead of you having to hold the pressure
Ya the ones with the clamp lock are nice!
You can use zip ties
good job but next time try a cut all saw and use ban clamps in case you have to remove it again for something and ban clamps seal better with no exhaust escaping
390bear thanks for the comment, took it right back off after it passed emissions!!
Safety glasses 😀
Just wait till the next video I learned my lesson haa
Great job pal
Thanks I appreciate it!
Nice invisible safety glasses
Darryl Johnson they really do wonders ha!!
I would do the exact opposite, cut out the cat and straight pipe it. Perks of living in Florida
Bryant Partazana I actually cut the cat and resonator off and had it straight piped, but had to put a cat in there quick to pass emissions in Arizona, but trust me it came back out lol!!
Do you guys experience increased fuel consumption after removing the cat
Nope it actually get better mpg because it flows better!!! Thanks for watching and commenting
Ok forget the glasses... what kind of car, truck or SUV is this🤔 and why you have to add this catalyst converter?
This was on a 97 Dodge Ram with a Cummins, I needed to put it on so it would pass emissions, thanks for watching!!
It would of been a lot quicker to just get the grinder out! LOL
Russell Smith hell ya bro I thought about it!!
Woulda been easier to pull that straight pipe out by removing clamps then take to a work table cut piece of pipe out clamp converter and replace as a whole then clamp back on instead of being on your back the whole time
That’s a possibility
Maybe not.... The long pipe would be unweildly and difficult to hold still.... Under car has it held in place by the hangers and mounts?
Mark straight line with a piece of notebook paper wrapped around pipe.
Dang I never thought about this, but that would have given me a perfect line, I'll have to remember that next time
sawzall with heavy metal cutting blade 5 seconds done
Yep that works too!
Will this cut catalytic converters?
Only for legal reasons yes lol
@@Azkeyguy hehe ofcoz 100% :D

Yep visual pass with it clamped on and the snap test(yes which is bullshit) hold your vehicle to the rev limiter wtf
Never had to do emissions is South Dakota; I think it’s a crock of shit diesels put out less emissions than a gas
