Hugh Jackman wore hair extensions for a few scenes because at the beginning of filming his hair was shorter, but his hair grew out as the filming continued so it is his natural hair in plenty of the movie.
There was plans for a sequel, with rumors that Tom cruise would replace Hugh Jackman but all of that was scrapped in the years following the initial film's release.
Apparently van helsing was the angel Gabriel and later became human. At some point he fought alongside dracula as holy knights in the past, simply put draculas wife got killed and tried to bring her back with magic. Gabriel killed him and decided to live as a human due to regret
This movie is great: it just leans HARD into the campy, cheesy action and never apologizes for it. This Dracula is just an enormous ham it's fantastic. Frankenstein's monster, as well.
Richard Roxburgh as Dracula is some of the best scenery chewing ever. I also remember when this came out, I was perplexed why Van Helsing was named "Gabriel" instead of Abraham like he usually is. It wasn't until later that I realized he's supposed to be the literal archangel Gabriel in human form (hence the "Left Hand of God" moniker).
This movie straight up has the best werewolf design and arguably the best werewolf transformation scenes. Underworld is probably the only contender, which has a soft spot for me because the first two are mostly practical effects. BUT, I love that Kate is involved with both movies that have the best werewolf designs.
This and the Wolverine movies proved that Hugh Jackman is the best topless primal screamer in the movie industry. I looks and sounds like he could actually go Super Saiyan!
Yep and even the cheese in this (witch is what mostly turned people off) is better then "dark universe". I'd take a sequel to Van Helsing over anything from dark.
Best werewolf design no other movie or show has topped it and the one thing that I hate was Kate character dying couldn’t believe it. I mean no disrespect but I think because you guys talk to each other and miss important things being said sometimes you guys appear to have less than average understanding of characters motivations. There was nothing complicated or conspiratory about him knocking her unconscious, she wanted to go out in the night time and hunt a vampire (dangerous) and he said no we'll go out tomorrow and hunt him together in the light (safer) she said no, and tried to leave (not smart) so he knocked her out.... He was keeping her safe.
One of my favorite Hugh Jackman movies. It really blew my mind to learn that Robbie Coltrane (AKA Harry Potter's Rubeus Hagrid) did the voice and facial motion capture modeling for Mr. Hyde. I love the brides, the lore of Count Dracula, Van Helsing's werewolf form and the look of Frankenstein's Monster.

This is an underrated gem 💎 This was a love letter to the iconic monster genre; you can tell it was made with love and passion for the Universal classic monsters. Definitely deserves more love & appreciation 🔥
As much as the film is criticized, for me it has been one of the best that has been made by recreating them in a more fantastic atmosphere in a way that seems even more anticipating Dracula, his Frankenstein brides and Hugh's werewolf. . Its design and CGI is one of the best!!!
Fun fact: This movie actually takes major inspiration from Vampire Hunter D for its depiction of Van Helsing. Additionally, this was intended to be a trilogy, but it was condensed into a single film.
@Ivy94F the original idea for the movie was actually based on Castlevania with different generations of the Van Helsing family fighting Dracula. But it was later decided to go with the Vampire Hunter D route. The result was amazing either way. Additionally, a live action Hellsing series is in the works on Prime by the makers of The Boys.

Hey Roxy. Tell Greg Beowulf would be a great movie to react to. Or at least watch offscreen if you ever have the time these days lol its basically about a warrior who slays a demon then faces the wrath of its mother. Its animted, but looks looks like a great qualityvideo game. The voice actors are, Crispin Glover, Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, and Angelina Jolie.
The ending sequence is what I like to call the Jackman Death Hold. How he held Kate in the death sequence is how he held Jean in her death sequence in X3's ending.

I love the transformation for this movie for both Vampire and Werewolf it's a shame not a lot of movies went for this design it's like a more toned down and fast paced transformation of Werewolf in London cause it's less viceral but the design fornthe wolves really hits
Maybe because it's not a move to take seriously, but you two need to pair for more reactions. The "smart-ass" was at an 11, and it was fun. And Greg was good at filling in questions for Roxy and keeping her on track. Since Roxy reacted to Dracula recently, I'd like to see her react to the modern versions of Frankenstein, staring Robert Deniro and The Wolfman staring Benicio del Toro.

In Van Helsing´s first scene, he fought with Mr Hyde (the alter ego of Dr Jekyll, who has a multiple personality disorder). After kill him he came back to Jekyll´s semblance. I highly recommend you to read the historical short novel by Robert Louis Stevenson: "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde".

Funny fact - I watched The Mummy and Van Helsing over and over again as a child and I was literally in love with Imhotep and Dracula, madly in love. Just a couple of months ago I came across a reaction to Van Helsing, and the guys in it said "by the way, they were filmed by the same director". My jaw touched the core of the earth, literally. I played the Werewolf at the Universal Studios Van Helsing haunted mansion. A 9 foot stilt walking character to jump out and scare people. So fun.

This is a ‘leave your brain at the door’ and just have fun movie. I love it. Pure escapism/entertainment.

I loved this movie (even though it's a spoof/parody movie) but I think it's one of the better ones! Very surprised that nobody has really reacted to or reviewed it for Halloween in all these years.
