god....look at that. Even in China social media exploded in joy for them both. Catch and hang on to moments like these where you see nothing but love... cause that also is there.
Ke is the loveliest man!! I have never been so happy for someone I don't even know. Every time I see his win on tiktok, I cry. What a beautiful speech and what a beautiful person!
It was a great moment watching Ke Huy Quan & Michelle Yeoh receive their Oscar's. It really hit the feels nd I was so happy for them. Compared to last years Oscars when slap attack said his speech I couldn't help but cringe through it but THIS year I was genuinely tearing up during Ke & Michelle's acceptance speech. Beautiful.
It really was the most emotional Oscars for all the acting categories Brendan and Ke with the comeback stories of the decade, Michelle for FINALLY getting her dues and being the first Asian and only second woman of colour to get Best Actress, and even Jamie who honoured everyone included her parents who sadly didn't live to see their daughter win the award they both missed out on.
Those were last year’s Best Supporting Actor/Actress presenting Ke’s award. It was Ariana DeBose who said his name. She won for her role as Anita in West Side Story - the same role Rita Moreno won for as well. Ariana was the first openly queer person who won an Oscar. In addition, Halle Berry who handed the award to the Michelle is the first Black woman (and first non white actress) to win in that category. Making Michelle the 2nd POC
Okay, I'm the only one in the multiverse who HASN'T seen the movie. I did not even know who Michelle was until I heard a news story that she was nominated and could become the 1st Asian American to win the award. So I thought, even though I have not watched the Oscars in ages, but because I am half Asian and feel more connected with my Asian culture, I will watch just her award group. But somehow I ended up watching the whole show. I really did NOT know who Ke was. But I involuntarily SOBBED when he won, and then I kept crying all night thru the show after that, and THEN I started watching the interviews of Michelle, Ke and other members of the movie on UA-cam and hearing their stories and how much these awards they accepted were not just for themselves personally but for so many......the next day I felt like I had a hangover and my eyes were swollen 🤣 😂 I could not stop crying that night out of so much joy for their success! And I have watched Ke having his name tearfully announced as winner and speech over and over and over again.....he is truly a very special light!! Congratulations, so happy for all the cast and crew! YES, I'm NOW going to see the movie!!!!!!!!! 🤣 AND I CRIED LIKE A BABY AGAIN WATCHING this with you 🤣
It's crazy. I'm a grown man that never cries but that Ke does it to me every time. Goonies and Indian Jones were one of the first movies I remember watching as a kid. Being Asian myself I always remember him and his distinct voice. Haven't heard of him for decades. But when I watched EEAAO I recognized that voice instantly. Then to hear him tell the story of his life it really touched me and I was so rooting for his comeback. And now he has an Oscar in his first movie back. Wow! Btw Michelle is not Asian American. She's a Hong Kong actress born in Malaysia and currently living in Switzerland.
Ariana, who presented won for best supporting actress last year. I don't know if she is feeling represented. I am white, and I don't feel represented. But yet I cry every time I watch Ke. He is so inspirational, and his monolog in EEAAO just crushes me. I ugly cry every time he says, "Can't we all just stop fighting!" That monolog shows his range and is really why he won. Not for representation. But because this amazing movie is changing lives! But I am so glad you feel represented too! It's about damn time!
I thought he is asking who she is? And she go and answered he the director ET. Girl he is the great Steven Spielberg and she is Ariana DeBose last year Best Supporting Actress winner.
Michelle Yeoh super deserved it. As a white guy that knows very little about her extended filmography or her history, all I know is that she's that kind of actress that you go, "Oh she's in this movie? It's gonna be good then". You know what I mean? Like that one actor who you just know if he's in a movie it has a high chance of being good because they pick good work. Someone with that kind of fame should be someone who has oscars and etc to her name.
Loved the movie, thought Kwan (I mean Yeoh! You made me say it! 2:21) was fantastic and deserving. But sorry, I didn't see anything Oscar worthy of Quan's performance. Same with Jamie Lee - nothing special to me.
"If you really want to get to the heart of everything you have to dance around a lot of it" is a great way to explain this movie. It's a phenomenal watch and the reason why it dominated the Oscars this year. Utterly refreshing!

Michelle Yeoh can still kick ass. Watch the Star Trek Discovery episode in which she fought as the Terran Empire's Empress.

Way to go, Data/Ke Huy Quan. #TheGoonies Forever. 💯🔥💯
Omg a Goonies reboot, I would love to see them all back together again
FYI, it was last years best supporting actor/actress winners who presented the award to Ke Huy Quan. Troy Kotsur and Ariana DeBose.
