  • Yeah so I was messing around and came up with this. This is Behringer Neutron only. With arturia beatstep pro sequencing the oscillators separately.
    Stay tuned to my channel as next week we shall start a full patching series starting with the basics. So come and subscribe and don’t miss a thing.

    I have had my Neutron since 2019 and I never once thought to use it as a percussion machine.I gotta try this
    I have used my mine mostly as a bass drone and Radiophonics like weird textures and sfx tool, and it is excellent at it.

    The neutron is so rude and obnoxious. It stinks of vile industrial. I love it. I have played around with it as a percussive too but haven't explored the sonic range as much as you have. Very interesting, the possibilities. I like rounding out the smooth general sound of the dm12 with the grit of the neutron. They complement well.

    Hey bud, I’m struggling to link my beatstep pro with my behringer neutron and was wondering if you could help?
    I also have a make noise 0 coast and I link that using the out gate and pitch cv to the gate and pitch in of the 0 coast. But I’m not sure how I would do the same with the neutron. When I link it with midi, both instruments play at the same time but I want them both on separate sequence channels on the beatstep pro. If anyone could help that would be great! Thanks
    Sam

    • @Electronicmassacre
      @Electronicmassacre  5 років тому +3

      Ok first you can control the neutron with midi. Change the midi channel that you are controlling the o-coast from to 16 and the neutron channel to one. If this doesn’t help you can change the midi channel on the neutron with the little switches at the back of the unit which work in a 01 binary code so if all those switches are down it’s on channel 1 first switch up for channel 2 first switch down second switch up for channel 3 and so on.
      For cv control the gate triggers are separate. So if you want to control these at the same time you put cv gate from beatstep in to the multi in of the neutron. The the multi 1 out goes to e.gate1 on the neutron and multi 2 goes to e.gate 2. For pitch send pitch cv out from the beatstep to the osc1+2 in on the neutron. If you also want velocity you can send velocity out from the beatstep to vca cv on the neutron but make sure you set the voltage range of the beatstep to +-9v in the beatstep pro editor. as it will clip or distort the audio if you don’t. But you really don’t need velocity if your just starting out so you could leave that part out. Hope this helps and feel free to ask and other questions.

    • @Electronicmassacre
      @Electronicmassacre  5 років тому

      Don’t understand the price myself. Built well to, it is very analog though. Like nothing has any sort of digital control and there is no midi cc implementation. That’s probably where the money is saved. And thanks, trying to show how versatile this thing can be. Only really scratched the surface so far. Lots more to come hehe

  • @raffaelesestito2952

    This is crazy good, can you explain the patching? I can see oscillators are pitched individually and it looks like osc 2 out modulates lfo trigger. But I can't really understand from this angle.
    Also looks like something is triggering E.Gate 2.

  • @Erdertainment
    @Erdertainment 5 років тому +10

    Very inspiring! To go full DFAM mode, perhaps you could even feed the noise into ATT1 and control its "volume" with one envelope or the velocity output of the BSP in order to get snare-like sounds? One could then sum it up with the OSC mix and run it through the filter. Not sure if this is working as I'm expecting it to (can't try it right now) but there's certainly some patcharound to get yet another controllable timbre out of this little box. :D

      Just have gate out to e.gate in from both sequencers on the beatstep pro. Then pitch from both sequencers to osc1 and osc 2. You can do this with no patching to be honest and just midi. Just have the filter set to high pass and the osc pitch low then bring the noise up to full and make sure it’s in paraphonic mode and osc sync is off. Then just play around with the filter. Have the resonance up full though. I’ll going to try and do a big tutorial vid soon when I finally get the time.

    • @coversine479

      Was trying to work that out. Have the gate from sequencer one on the bsp to egate 1 on neutron and gate from sequencer 2 to egate2 pitch from sequencer 2 in to osc 2 to control the bass sound as sequencer one is just doing the kick. The I have lfo in to pwm to do some pulse width modulation and I don’t know what I’ve got the output of osc 2 going to... I was just trying random things at that point. But I think you can do all the percussion sounds without any patching needed. I’ll have a big tutorial vid up hopefully by the weekend so will go over everything in that.
