Also I want to add is that she did it to make a point to stop then for messing with young children. And shortly after the church could not hide it anymore. It was out. So yes the time she did that angered a lot of people around that time but later forgave her when the corruption came out.
Big thumping heart on her sleeve. Her vocals, shes Irish, keening is part of that. She makes you feel. Like her or hate her. She has many songs, imo, better than this she wrote. No one is or will ever be like her. I hope peace found her.
She felt very deeply everything that she sang. Her voice touches the heart and her eyes reach into the soul. Check out her masterpiece "Troy" live. Rest in sweet peace brave lady 😢
As I remember it, she was speaking out against the abuses of the Catholic Church, but 30 years ago, the public wasn’t willing to hear it. This particular song was written by Prince, but Sinead made it her own.
It was live on Saturday Night Live, and it was not part of the performance. There used to be standards of conduct, before the western world was consumed by narcissism.
She ripped the pope’s picture on popular SNL show as protest against child abuse in the churches. Which turned out to be very true nowadays. She has nothing against religion; she even died as Muslim. Her life was very depressing, she lost her 19 year old son just 1.5 year ago. She lost her mother when she was 17 who abused her physically and sexually since childhood with her sister. She found a way to forgive her and this songs reminds her of her, that’s why she even shows tears while singing this song in the video clip. The music industry wanted her to be half naked and have long beautifull hair to not just sell her music but also her body. She refused and that made the music industry and tv boycot her. Who is Madonna, who is Cher, they are no where close to the talent Sinead had. But they choose to sell their souls, she didn’t. Rip beautifull soul.
Yep! She actually was a devout Catholic at the time and wanted to save the church. The protest on SNL was poorly executed and received badly of course. The scandal had already broke in Ireland and the church/pope was busy hiring lawyers, taking out insurance lawsuits to cover lawsuits, and shipping the pedo priests out of the country s they couldn't be summoned to court. Of course the US MSM didn't cover any of that, so Americans were clueless of it all and only saw an angry woman attacking the church. It it were today she would have had a media handler to get out in front of it and explain it all, and not let her be perceived as some hateful religious bigot, but of course it wasn't today. She paid a heavy, heavy price for it, and so did a lot of people who never have heard all the GREAT music she did beyond this song. I would not even rate this song in her top 10.
That was the Amnesty International concert in 1990 which took place in Santiago Chile. It was organized to celebrate Chile's return to democracy after the 17-year dictatorship by Augusto Pinochet. Many international stars were part of this lineup: Tracy Chapman, Ruben Blades, Sinead, Peter Gabriel, NKOTB, Sting, among others.
Sinead didn't do anything wrong, she told the truth and time proved it about abuse and the church. The problem was that in THOSE years, what she did was really insulting.
She did rip the Pope photo not for spread hate but to try saving innocence. Back in the '80 and early '90 no one would dare to speak clearly, about sexual abuse and pedophilia acts, done by priests. She did it, by singing Bob Marley " War " and, after saying " fight the real enemy " she did rip that photo. There was no hate against that particular pope, she merely used it as a symbol of the church power. That act took away from her, more than just the glorious career she deserved. Hope she's in peace now. Thanks for this video and good evening to everyone.
The thing with Sinead is she had the punkest most punk heart out there, but she had a classical beautiful trained voice, and she may have struggled between the two styles. But more importantly she just did whatever she wanted, even in freezing cold weather a night in Santiago Chile. Singing live was really hard back then, unlike today where everyone has auto tune and pitch correction, as well as 3 vocal trainers on set, 4 chorus girls, etc. She was the best. If you are not analyzing live performances on that context then its not fair to them.
She wanted her career to nose dive as her soul was not into the egoic thought system she felt swallowed up artists in the industry. Thus the shaving of the head and you are correct, not using any filters. She lived for no one but herself and beloved family. I too was distracted with life as it unfolded and only in her death fell completely in love with her. Her legacy is her soul and passion that she left for all in the world of form. I love watching reaction of others likewise and seeing their souls be drawn in. Thank you for your reaction- and reading up and delving deeper into her does not disappoint. She is the gift that keeps on giving 🙏🏻
hmmm i'm not sure this is the bel canto technique, I'm trained in bel canto, she has a very "free"way of singing compare to a stricts bell canto training, but I could be wrong:)
Her vocals are what we listened to before music used auto tune, it's called a real talent . Too bad people use auto tune today because it takes the emotion away and sounds robotic.
i feel like her delivery is 'raw', not the sound, but the feeling .... was the ultimate breakup song!! enjoyed listening with you! now i have to check out your other vlogs...
In my opinion....any music that doesn't follow rules is the best...we wouldn't have the music we have if everyone followed "rules:...les Paul through recording techniques out the window...all music that stays with us...comes from doing what they feel..
Nice reaction video! There is a video where she does "Feel so different" and "Emperors new clothes" back to back, Live in 1990, that shows her incredible range, and what a great live performer she was. I would highly recommend it. Here: ua-cam.com/video/qLXav9rIusM/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared She has tons of good songs btw. Most Americans just never got to hear them because she was canceled for telling the truth about the church sex scandal in Ireland.
Pleeasee!! React "IL SOGNO"by isyana sarasvati ft deadsquad, you will be suprises with they performers!!btw she's frm indonesia and also opera metal singer
This video does not come close to the real Sinead. Medical issues do sadly tear apart the best in everyone. Go back In time and you will eat your word's.
I can understand the popularity of the song. It was pretty much cutting edge at the time. But all told this was a 1 hit wonder. If somebody can explain the significant s of this song, I'm all ears. Otherwise I really don't get the attraction....
Check out her album "The Lion and the Cobra". It's fantastic from beginning to end. And this is coming from a metalhead - the fact is that she was an incredibly talented artist with a beautiful, expressive voice and tremendous artistic integrity. She did her own thing regardless of what others thought of it, and I have great respect for that, as well as for her talent.
She had 10 albums and earned £10 million, half of which she gave away because it wasn’t about fame and riches, she wanted to be seen as a protest singer. She was cancelled by mainstream due to tearing up the popes picture in protest. Her autobiography Remembering’s, is v good
Firstly, this is Prince's doing but Sinéad made it hers. The significance of this song is that she had a turbulent relationship with her mother. Everytime she sang this song she envisioned her mother when she'd close her eyes. In the music video, tears rolled down her face in the beginning of the second verse. Real tears that just came about. Despite her relationship with her mother she adored her. Sinéad's mother didn't get to see her success as she passed in a car accident. But it's true, she isn't for everyone. That's why I've always quite fancied her. Perhaps one of my guiltiest pleasures in life is just losing myself while listening to her music, watching her music videos, interviews and performances.
Her connection with the emotions inside of her and her audience was why so many of us flocked to her
Her career didn't go south. She did many more successful albums and many collaborations. She never sold out
💯.
It wasn't hate speech ripping up the popes picture, she was vindicated and proven correct latter for the reasons she did this for.
Also I want to add is that she did it to make a point to stop then for messing with young children. And shortly after the church could not hide it anymore. It was out. So yes the time she did that angered a lot of people around that time but later forgave her when the corruption came out.

100% accurate.
This is the one and only video of yours I will ever watch.

Her son Shane was 17 when he took his life in January 2022.
@@Londubh1 my bad
Yeah and her mum passed when Sinéad was 18. But totally agree with you on everything else

Welcome!!! Thank you for this. She is my favorite. Please listen to Troy, Just like You said it Would B. Sinéad is phenomenal.

Sia, Sinead, Adele, Withney, Amy Winehouse for sure in the Top ten.
My favourite Sia
This one hits hard,😢
She simply spoke out about catholic abuses agains child ! She protested back in time but people
Wasn’t prepared for the true.

her albums are magnificent.
It was as much the video as the song that sold it back when it came out. Just was whole song up close of her head and letting the odd tear drop.
She said she would think of her mother when she sang it
Awsome choice😊🎉
It was ripped up. It was over child abuse. And she was right
Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!

She uses the Stanislavsky method of acting while singing. Listen to Troy!
That's what I said. Troy is my favorite!!!
Next up Troy by Sinead? 👌🏼❤

@@charlenegodbee1202 Yes it's a shame. Music has gone down hill.
Danny Boy ..she sings perfectly .. that beautiful Irish sound. She could do it all

never has a review of a song ever been so wrong as this
Watch the interview she explains it and she's have a very hard past
Ella no está cantando, está interpretando.. por eso resulta tan extraño y hermoso lo que hace con su voz.
Her first album, The Lion and the Cobra, was pretty life-changing. Has never heard anything like it. But this song sucks.

Too much talking for my tastes.
Her career was ruined after she refused to sing American anthem.
That was the first set up she fell for and was punished for but she harder cancel of her career was when she denounced child abuse by the way Church

She had many hits before this song and after. This song was recorded in 1990 and she had already been nominated for a Grammy in 1987
you should move the cursor off the time line it leaves a thumbnail that is distracting.
