I heard the serene smooth sound of Chet Atkins who I'm sure was a great influence on you. There is something in that sound that can't be explained by words, just felt and heard. What a pleasure to the ears your performance must have been live. And I just bookmarked this video so I can go back to it and hear the beauty that is possible from a fingerpicked classic.
This is what I like. A really good guitarist who makes the arrangement his own but in the vein of Chet Atkins. He doesn't make it part of some medley of Chet tunes like I'm sure many do, he made it into a full and I think unique arrangement. Myself, when I learned this off of a Chet Atkins album gosh 40 years ago, I quit after the band came in. No full arrangement. I was and am limited in what I can do in music but not this man!
That's the Chet Atkins version from "A Session With Chet Atkins" (1954) ! Really love to see the fingerpicking technique put on the bass as Moseley Jr. does.
Very very nice. You've inspired me to re-learn that tune. I now just go through it once and then modulate to 'E' and sing it (my voice isn't as bad as it sounds) through once or twice.
