  • These SKILL BUILDER videos will help you along your fly tying journey! We choose three tips per week and post them on Fridays!
In this video we show you how to color one side of a feather to achieve two colors on a single feather (great for Parachute Adams). We'll show you how to use the cottorelli hackle twister, a unique tool that is great for blending colors of CDC, marabou and many other types of feathers. We finish the video with a really cool technique to make your dry fly hackle much more durable.
This video will show the following:
Chapter 1 - Coloring one side of hackle for parachute (Difficulty 2/5)
Chapter 2 - How to use the Cottorelli Hackle Twister (Difficulty 3/5)

I just started fly fishing a month or two ago (in the middle of winter) and started tying flies right after that.
When I needed CDC for practicing on Smokejumpers, you guys are definitely going to have it.
Also: when my son saw Cheech, the first thing he said when we left the shop: "That was a large human""

I would love to see tips on splitting thread for dubbing and cdc. I’m using utc 70 and I spin it counter clockwise and for the life of me can’t see to get it flat to split it properly.

The balance between scripted and spontaneous moments creates a natural flow that keeps the viewer engaged. It's the mark of a seasoned storyteller.
