Bullet head technique wasn't even on my radar...now it is. Thanks for your thoughtful presentations and relevant topics to improving fly tying. Appreciate your work.
@@FlyFishFood I wish this was available when I started years ago. I use mine a little differently. After the hook catches the thread I put the thread on the back part diagonally, so the thread comes between the two parts and goes down and around the bump nearest the handle. You come up and around the bump. I didn’t figure out the hold it so it doesn’t spin part at first, so this technique solves that. Yeah, explaining that without a video is impossible. 😂 Anyway, I really appreciate how you break things down in these.
I can't thank you all and ESPECIALLY Cheech for this series ... I've been tying jigs for 2 months and have learned so much. Thanks again, Nick in Redfield Arkansas
Thanks for all the good tips and tricks, they are making me a better tyer. It’s obvious you love what you do, and that makes these videos very enjoyable. Thanks again.
I need a hack for preserving various adhesives: super glue, head cement, UV resin. Mine always dry out or turn a glob of goo before they are used up. Rick M.
I got those little tools, one of my favorite bullet head flies is the old Doug Swisher Maddam X, being lazy I just tie it in yellow and with round white rubber legs, heck I even have some round rubber legs that I bought from Doug himself when he was doing that long with copper sleeves Md- 1980's. Yeah the bullet head dose kind of blows up some but its a small price to pay for the the numbers of trout I would catch with the Maddam, their was another that I tied called the Ugly Rudamus that worked really well in low water conditions and in general. You should do that one Cheech its a great fly.
Thx. Cheech always protect the belly. What’s a good large whip finish tool other than the classic you mentioned. I see people on the inter webs with what look like large tools but never see a bunch of sizes when browsing web sites. Thanks.
Honest opinion… I don’t think the size of the finisher really makes a ton of difference. I like the standard size for most things. If I need to whip further back I do it by hand and add cement.
Just a label. Both deer hair but from different animals/regions of the country. Compara is short and fine. X-Caddis is finer but longer. Natures spirit is really the only company that differentiates by technique
Another great tips video. I especially liked the treatise on the deer hair. The proper use of the whip finisher was a good basics tip. Thanks, Cheech.
Thanks!!!

Slightly pulling the bobbin toward you when whip finishing for more control, love that tip. Going to practice that. This series is so great. Thanks!
It was hard to put all that in words 😂😂

Outstanding! This is the best tutorial I've seen on whip finishing.
Bullet head stones have got to be some of my favorite flies to tie.

Love tying jigs and conventional angling!
Excellent tutorial on the deer/elk hair and bullet head. Good reminder on whip finisher use. I agree, much more exact to use the whip finisher.

Covering important fundamental tying steps are great refreshers for all fly tyers. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Chief. I really needed this Skill Builder.
Thanks Cheech, I just learned something new. I lone these skill builders, they are very very helpful.

All this time I've been using deprimed pistol casings for bulletheads those are a great improvement
Fantastic 🎉 CHEECH !!!!!

I love these skill builders. Thanks for making them, maybe show how to do the tread splitting technique if you don’t have a dubbing loop twister
That’s on the docket

Gimme a sammich!!!
@@FlyFishFood Curtis is the go-to guy for that!!!! Have a good Easter to you and yours!
Hi Cheech! Thanks for this one. How do I find nice large pelts like the good ones you discussed in this one?
They are usually marketed as “premo strips” from Hareline and Wapsi
That really helps me with the whip finish, I tried it by hand but it does seem to come lose. Thanks.
😎
First tool i bought was a whip finish tool. Its soul purpose for me is to pull dubbing out the dispenser packs 😂

Here’s a controversy on whip finishes. Do you make your wraps toward or away from the hook eye?
What is the difference between Comparadun hair and X-caddis hair?

At 4:00, I kept trying to blow that stray orange hair on the green strip off my screen.
"Just like me thats the most durable part of your body" 😂
Can we see wrapping goose biots for dry flies?
