Thanks for your efforts in making these tips tutorials. Always great to practice. I like the look of the paratroop. It looks to me like the hard rock vs Bobby Vinton, The regular hackle being Vinton. I guess I dated myself there. Wouldn't you say? All the best, Sean

I know who Bobby Vinton is, I am old too. This is a variation of the hackle stacker, while it's a little time consuming to tie, they make for a very durable dry fly once you get it down. I tie Adam's dries like that, boy it works well went there is little Battis around, # 20 and 22. I would tie nothing but this style of dry fly if it was not so time-consuming. I can only do about 5 in an hour. Then again, I had # 22's that lasted for well over 30 fish so it's really not that bad a deal. I would not want to tie them commercially and I don't think anybody doses for that reason.

Thanks for your response George. I love fly tying because you can get old as dirt and still have the ability to tie I do need more magnifiers than I used to. Oh well, gotta keep getting older because the alternative is bleak. ;)

Hi, thanks. When tying a paraloop hackle the objective it to achieve an umbrella shaped hackle on top of the thorax, the best way too do this is to have as many barbules on the hackle as possible.

Barry, I am trying to find a gallows tool for my Petitjean Master Vise. I have checked all the retailers I can think of that I researched when I bought my vise. I have great difficulty with the Petitjean site so I have stopped trying. I don't give up easily but I have been frustrated many times when dealing with that site. I was wondering if you knew of a retailer that I could get the gallows tool from. All the best, Sean
