Perspective. Notice how the chair is near the end of the steps? It's so the first guy could easily slip out when he raises the blanket, blocking the camera's and the victim's perspective. For every one wondering how the first dude Dissapeard, He ran away while the magician covered the chair with the cloth in a way that the black guy wouldn’t have seen him. The head bulge probably appears due to something in the cloth itself that gives it that shape. The reason why you didn’t see a shadow of the first guy running or sitting down initially was because of video editing. A magician never reveals his secret!

In this case, MOST DEFINITELY, the dude on the other chair would see what just happened. So, it's all about the angle of the camera FOR US, the audience. Everyone is aware of this cheap trick.

If you notice the magician places the blanket in front of the chair (and in front of the other guy) for a few seconds...this gives him time to run from the chair and into the space in the back (the edge of the grassy seating area)
