18:46 im Wilson Manzere from south africa and I am so happy to hear that motor starting smoothly
So well deserved, if only the car community was exposed to this channel… it would be huge! ⏳⏳⏳
Hey, Boy!
I loved the whole engine assembly process, you were very detailed in each assembly process.
I'm from Brazil and I'm passionate about engines, especially when they're Ford.
Thanks man, really appreciate it 🙏🏻😎
Seeing how bloody happy you looked when the motor finally turned over made me smile too. Super bloody awesome there mate. Keep up the good work, and hope you continue to enjoy these projects.
Thanks mate, might not be a big thing for some people but for me, it’s a hobby and feels like a big achievement 🤩
Great video, so much inspiration for us who are not mechanics
Great job! Respect 🙏
Told you. Well done!
Very inspiring - well done - enjoyed the video.
Thank you mate, really appreciate the support 🙏🏻
Congratulations and well done! I’ve been invested in this project since the start, so to see it start was great! Hopefully the channel gets the recognition it deserves
Bloody well done mate 👏 👍 keep up the good work
Thanks matey 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Congrats man, well deserved
Thank you my friend 🙏🏻
Well done Mike all the best for the new year, fingers crossed you get everything sorted 👍
Cheers buddy, I’m sure it’ll keep me busy for a while yet 😂
Sick dude!!!!!!!!!! That was epic... Grats mate thats a result.
Thank you dude 👍🏻
Amazing video mate! So chuffed for you! Congrats dude
Thank you sir! Can’t believe it actually ran 😱😂
So glad to see it actually turn over
You and me both 😂
Good job, insane achievement!
Literally over the moon! Thank you mate 🙏🏻
Congratulations mate, so happy the hard work has payed off! Can’t wait to see what you do in 2023, and hopefully I’ll get to see both cars driving around 🔥
Thank you mate 👍🏻 can’t wait to get the MK7 actually on the road
Littile engine is back from the dead! Great Job Mike. Worth all hard working hours. Greeting from Serbia and Happy New Year!
Thank you my friend! HNY to you to 🥳
Well done mate 👍
Cheers man 👍🏻
Awesome mate👌 a job well done from start to finish! The look on your face when it fired….priceless!! Your right to be proud of yourself👍
Thank you 🙏🏻 I thought the look when it almost fired and didn’t was the best 🫣😂
Happy new year mate!
Happy new year 🥳
This is amazing. I also drive the same car and the day will come where I will probably have to do the same as this. Now I have a guide on what to do. Unbelievable
Respect for you, for stepping so far out of your comfortzone. Keep up the good work! By the way: you live in a very nice village. Greetz from Holland
Thank u sir well explained
Wow, love the way you just doing things. I am a mechanic myself and I own a 1.0 ecoboost in the misses car. But I definitely not looking forward to do some work on that engine. You did so well. Great work! Greetings from Germany
Great job mate no better feeling than a freshly built engine turning over for the first tine
Hopefully the first of many 🤞🏻 although I don’t want to do an ecoboost again 😂
Well done, you did it! So pleased for you. Hopefully snagging is quick, the dodgy exhaust is replaced and you’re soon able to make good use of it.
I hope so, some comments still think there’s big issues but in all honesty, now, it’s running much better than it did at first. The exhaust is awful mind 😂
Just came across this , subscribed simply because I wouldn't have the courage to do what you've done 👍
Great to have you on board 👍🏻 some call it brave, other call me stupid 😂😂
Well done mate all the hard work definitely payed off she’s up and running again. The tense moment when you find out if it’ll run or not as well. it’s not my car but I even had that moment sitting here watching the video
Thank you mate, was it all the suspense in the intro? 😂
@@MendItModIt to be fair mate after the intro going over everything that was done to the engine and how big of a job and expensive the job also was it added to it, I had the feeling with my mk6 after i've done big ish jobs like my timing belt and my clutch, its that moment when you find out if everything's gone to plan, this series got me really interested and ill definetly be watching if you have another project going on.
Brilliant stuff! On a similar journey myself fixing a 2009 Fiesta (though with the DV6 diesel). I was excited for my first switch on, then gutted as it ran really bad. screwed up I think the timing tensioner and will check soon if it's just broken rockers. Will check out some of your other vids, it's nice to find other home mechanics fixing up these Fiestas!
Oh no! 😩 hopefully you get it sorted and it’s not too drastic 🤞🏻 thanks for the support!
As commented on your last video , mine ran rough for about 10 minutes but after switching off & back on it disappeared & back to normal . I’ve know idea why mine ran rough at first start up with rattles but after a switch off then back on it went. Like yourself I’m not a trained mechanic by trade either but after 33 years of self taught , I know enough to get by mainly Fords I’ve had . Again very well done , it is stressful I’ve been there but not to this depth only the wet belts & that was bad enough as it to me all week to do it , this has took you a lot longer but super good you’ve done it pal 🎉😅
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻it’s alive nice one
Thanks dude 👍🏻👍🏻
Congrats dude, you did very well with the build and general completion. Its a bit sketchy but if you don't manage to get a funnel for your fuel cap side, the tire iron works like a charm to get stuff like injector cleaner and so on in when you are in a pinch ;), just make sure its clean.XD
I’ll keep that in mind 😂😂
Love your content mate, love the fact you give anything a go. I rebuilt my girlfriends MGTF engine recently and it made a similar top end noise for the first half an hour of running. I left it to idle and once it had warmed up and the oil had circulated, the noise was completely gone. These 1.0 engines make make a slight tap anyway on the top end. Mostly due to the common rail gasoline injectors on these engines. I would put some more fresh fuel in and leave it to idle for a while. Obviously keep a close eye on it. You may find it'll sound better after a while. As for the misfire, the ECU may not pick up the misfire straight away, it may well do after idling for a while. Hopefully that will be because of the bad fuel. Remember the bad fuel will take moment to clear through the lines and filter first so eliminate that too ☺️ good luck
Thanks for the info dude. Someone at work suggested it could have hydraulic tappets and they needed to fill with oil but unfortunately they aren’t on these engines. It does run better each time I start it so I think the fuel is helping
Congrats on getting it running! Excited to see it alongside the mk6 :) I was wondering if you know if pre facelift rear tailight bulbs are a direct swap over into facelift ones on the mk6? Found a set local with autobeam LEDs in pfl but wanting to put them into my FL set. Cheers!
Well done its not a easy engine to work even for a experienced mechanic
Thanks dude, I wish I’d picked something simpler for my first one 😂 bring on a V8 🤷🏻♂️😂
Looking forward to what you find out with the engine?
Great series of videos, I binge watched! If its an aftermarket exhaust and the fuel injection map hasn't been re-mapped to suit, maybe that's causing it to run poorly? Dunno, obviously, I'm less of a mechanic than you!
The 4 wire plug with a broken wire is a boost and temp sensor or TMAP. There is also a MAP sensor on the intake manifold which only does pressure.
Ahh gotcha, it seemed to sort all the codes out anyway and the engine does run better since, but fresh fuel seems to have made the biggest difference
Well done mate. I work in the trade and bloody hate these (ecobooms we call them). Fair play to you.
I can see why man 😂
What a great video, i watched the first video rebuild engine until this last when engine come up again, btw your radiator tank is rusty and water not clearly visible from outside you should mind to change😂. I am user Fiesta 1.0 MK7 too from Indonesia
Have you reset the learned values of the Crankshaft and Camshaft sensors?? With diagnostic tool!? Forscan.
Hey bro! I just found you a few hours ago ans I like your content!! 🤩🤩Have you done a buyers guide for what to look out for on a Fiesta ST MK6? Since I might be into one as my first car (im sadly 16 atm...) and I kinda like the Fiestas look. I also thought about a E46 320i maybe even a 323i since here in germany you can find decent ones for small money but then they have atleast ran 200.000km and dont have much extras
Hello, I'm a follower of yours and I've noticed a problem you have, the same thing happened to me with white smoke and it's not from the fuel, it's still due to an injector.
I explain a little, the injector may be obstructed, so that it does not work well and leaves it in an open position leaking gasoline. I tried to rebuild it, and it wasn't possible.
The smoke you see white in the turbo is the excess gasoline in the combustion chambers. Good work and best regards, I hope my comment will help you.
You have those codes twice because 2 are pending and 2 are current. The difference being pending codes can be something that is very common and the engine knows this but if de value of the reading exceeds or get below certain level the car needs to know about it so it becomes a current code and it lets you know via a check engine light or something
Great work btw👌
Gotcha! That makes sense, thanks for the info my friend 👍🏻
Thanks for a great series of clips, i have done the same journey but pulled bottenpart apart also. Bad decision, no information about torque for conrods, got help from a great website where i bought a lot of my parts kmotorshop. I think Haynes is like a messy book, so hard to find information because they mixed severel different engines in the same manuel. For me all information is found on internet and better informed than haynes. Your clips help med whid a lot of information, i have renovated a lot of engines but this is something else. The engineer that constructed this engine should be banned for any new development. When we talk about sustainability this engine is a extremly bad.
I started my engine yesterday after a stuck generator and startermotor but it runs so soft and smooth nowe 😊
Many thanks for great clips and links for parts etc.
Brave man taking on the task you did with this. A shit ton of work even for a trained ford mechanic to do. I don’t even think ford would recommend doing this to them. Probably cheaper to just bin the engine and buy a new unit and fit it. Mammoth task though.
Thanks man. It’s definitely worked out cheaper but the things I’ve learned have been far more valuable than what the car or any of the parts cost me if that makes sense 😁
@@MendItModIt did you manage to sort out the rough idle? The engine seemed to smooth out when it was revving ? It’s definitely a learning curve and the things you did with no previous experience is amazing. The worst ford engine you could have picked to work on for your first job.
Congratulations bud and a happy new year ! Been following you for about a year and bought a mk3 focus ecoboost and done the wetbelts and head rebuild. Check the drivers side engine mount, ours needed replacing and it sounds like a different car since.
Oh really? Mounts seemed okay but it’s definitely worth a look so I’ll check them out, thank you 🙏🏻
Hi mate, Great Job 👏 just was wondering about Una performance and if they are still going. I’ve been trying to get in touch with them about the coin holder clock transfer. I’ve tried to google them and tried your link but to no avail. Thanks 🙏 mate.
It’s gone awfully quiet !! Hope all is ok 😳
Hi mate, Well done for all your hard work and perseverance! Ive watched all your videos and have used them to help me carry out my first ever engine rebuild also on a near on identical Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost! I am at the point of timing it up and all is fine apart from the exhaust VVT pulley, when i go to fit the locking tool with everything else in the correct position and TDC etc the holes of the locking tool do not line up with the exhaust pulley???? Watching your video yours look in identical positions degrees-wise so my questions are 1. Did your exhaust pulley locking tool holes line up? 2. If they didn't do you know how to set this correctly? and 3. HEEEELLLLPPPPP!!! Massive thanks for the vids as Ive been on exactly the same journey over the last 3 months and am so close now, Cheers Pal!!
Message me on Instagram and I’ll try my best to show you what I did because mine were a little misaligned to start 👍🏻
Best bet is to just take it for a decent drive. Assume you did spark plugs, coilpack and leads and all that?
nice good job how did you learn how to rebuild the engine
Just did a lot of reading and watched a lot of UA-cam videos, other than that, I just went for it and learned as I went
Great vid. How many miles do you reckon you will get out of the Dayco timing belt? Just wondering if uk is the same as Oz.
As long as oil changes are done regularly with the correct oil for the wet belt, should last as long as it’s supposed to. The wrong oil will degrade the belt. Dayco makes the OE belts for these engines
I done a head gasket on the same car. Mine took a long time to start and was running bad. The turbo was smoking as well. Turns out the crankshaft pulley was not timed up with the crankshaft. You need to get the engine to TDC and fit the locking pin in. The crankshaft pulley should have a hole just big enough to fit the second timing pin though the pulley. The pin goes through the pulley just past 12 o clock and goes into the timing case.
My one was really far out.
I did use the locking tools when rebuilding mate, turned the engine over and reinstalled the locking tools to check after reassembly and everything was in time 👍🏻 guessing you’ve not seen the previous videos but I appreciate the comment man, thanks 👍🏻
@@MendItModIt just watched them and you have done it properly. Hopefully it's something simple. These engines are really over complicated for how small they are. Best of luck buddy
@@abubakrbanaras2396 oh for sure man, definitely picked a difficult engine to start on 😂 thank you 👍🏻
Oh dear. Big end clanky. Bearings & liners (no sensors) damaged by earlier head gasket failure or lacking installation lubricant. Another co par t gem.
I mean I don’t think it’s that bad pal 😅 but if it is, I’ve not lost anything, only learned more 😌
Congratulations mate. One comment if I may. Try and keep the lens on your phone claran as you film it is immensely anointing to look at fuzzy footage. That's a common issue on all your videos. Other than that keep up the good work 👍👍👍
I know what you mean dude, luckily I just bought a proper camera so once I learn how to set that up properly there should be a big improvement in video and audio quality 🤞🏻 I really appreciate the comment though because having asked a few people for feedback no one has really mentioned the video quality before but I can tell when I’m editing that it could be better. Not bad for an old iPhone though I suppose 😂
@@MendItModIt is not the camera what's wrong, doesn't matter if is a 5k R5 or an old iPhone a microfiber cloth will make a night and day difference
@@allandnc4402 I mean believe it or not, I do wipe the phone camera regularly 😂 the front facing camera is harder to clean, either way, should see a vast improvement and I’ll actually get use of my phone back while filming 😂 no more struggling to use a touch screen with gloves on 😂
Can we get an update ?
As for me, I think that the engine just needs to get broken in and the exhaust leaks badly. And after letting it run at idle for 2 hours or 1st gear jacked up for 50 Miles, don't forget to change the oil and replace the filter as all of the gunk from building and breaking in the engine will be collected.
I did wonder this as I’ve heard with some vehicles the ECU has to almost relearn what it’s doing as it runs. Good shout on the oil and that was the plan, need to flush the coolant too thus the deionised water to start. Roughly how many miles before changing the oil do you recommend?
@@MendItModIt I always stick to approx 2 ish hours after first start up and then after about 500 miles.
@@makifrable perfect, thank you for that mate 🙏🏻
i was thinking once the engine was running the car just sounded normal for a 3 cylinder. the engine rattle is perfectly normal, they all do that
Oh really? See I did wonder but it seems a bit excessive. Then again, I’ve never seen another one run so 🤷🏻♂️ as others suggested, maybe it needs a good blast 😏
@@MendItModIt I had a mk8 ecoboom, sold it recently with 52k on it and it was fine. They rattle like crazy and move around quite a bit. Came in handy one day bc one of my mates thought he had a misfire so opened my bonnet and listened to my engine then compared it to his and it was the same 😂 but yeah they do move around quite a bit. Only unusual thing is the long start. Hopefully it’s just something to do with a low battery or something bc they usually fire straught into life these engines
@@sammilburn445 fingers crossed then! Thanks for that. It starts up a lot better now with fresh fuel, it seems to be starting up better each time 👍🏻
Hi friend ,here in brasil this car named Ford KA ,tivct motor 3cilinders ,i have one.thankyou!
Sounds like its missfiring running on 2 cylinders still even with the new fuel
Ive watched all the videos. What ive learnt is i"m not going to touch this engine! only regular oil changes !
I don’t blame you mate 😂
They do shake abit bein 3 pot
Few people have said that, I’m hoping that’s all it is but I’d like to see another to see if it s the same
Why does it sound like it’s guna blow up tho
cAuSe It’S aN eCoBoOm 🥱🥱🥱
If it doesn't run nice and smooth, consider converting it to electric.
Yeah nice and easy to do… and cheap 😅
@@MendItModIt It would make for an awesome project and series. I would consider it very seriously. Not cheap, not easy, but excellent chance for the DIY warrior to be unleashed.
@@zrnjan I could think of some way better candidates for an EV swap than a fiesta though 😂
@@MendItModIt you are completely right on that one. I love the Focus though, it's the perfect car for me for an EV swap and as a petrol car because it is a sporty hatchback. I own a Fiesta and a sporty hatchback Focus, by the way.
The music makes the video useless... I wish i can hear the engine sound
Engine has poor compression
I’ll check it, but I’m confident in that front 👍🏻
