Removing the Engine from my *CRASH DAMAGED* Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost | CoPart Salvage Car

  • In the last video you saw on my salvaged Fiesta MK7 1.0 Ecoboost that I got from CoPart, we found out that it had some pretty serious engine damage and I discussed a couple of options I had for repairing it. It turns out that in order ti do the head gasket replacement on these engines you need some very expensive tools and it is likely that I would find further damage ti the head or even the block. So I decided that it would be best to get the engine either professionally rebuilt or to just replace it. Either way, that means one thing need to happen, the engine needs to come out!
    I hope you enjoy the video!

    Hey from Florida. I bought a used 2015 Ford Fiesta with the 3 cylinder engine. 123hp 148 pounds of torque with the boost. Car has been good so far. Hopefully it will last, still paying on it. It seems that the 3 cylinder Fiesta's are not as common over here in the states. Great video, I learned a lot just from watching. Hopefully I'll never have to do what ya'll did.

      I think health and safety is the biggest concern with doing this, how much does your average engine weigh quarter of a ton? That falls on you it ain't going to end well. I would have liked to see the guys use that engine lift brace bar they used when taking the gearbox out of the Mk6 just as an added precaution before the crane came in

    • @MendItModIt
      @MendItModIt  2 роки тому

      It was honestly easier than I thought! Small engine though I guess. Engine weighs 97kg dry, crane on that setting was rated to 1T and the chains bought that day were good for 150kg. Granted it was a bit sketchy on the gravel 😂

    If you look at the belt tensioner, there’s a slot for a 1/2 extension, you use a ratchet and extension in that slot to release the tension off the belt not the t30 bit

    I had a 140 ecoboost black edition, from what ive learned is the 140 and 125 are identical, apart from the map.

      I have been told this aswell.
      our 2013 ,125 bhp ecoboost fiesta is sitting at 108'000 miles, original clutch etc
      If we keep it long enough to need to timing belt changed (a big £££ job) I fancy a cheeky 140 remap 👍

    Bit ridiculous, but would an ST150 engine fit in the Mk7, they are normally pretty similar generation to generation. It would certainly be one of the few if not only Mk7 with a 2 liter engine around. 😆

    Repair if it's not silly money, also serves as a guide to people visiting your channel in the future with the same issue, Either way, what's a better advert when that day comes to saying to a potential buyer "oh here's my series on YT on all the things I've fixed". It'll sell itself. And lots more views for you with multiple vids. Everybody wins!
