Evening Paul, evening everyone, Blackpools getting there will take time though. Blackpool's finished, not a chance like you said. No other seaside town does as well right throughout the year. Empty buildings in the town centre will soon be occupied as they are little gold mines, not just in season but now virtually throughout the year. Old hotels etc are another matter, so many good old stock buildings, should be refurbished and sell as private accommodation, only way forward. Great news on Yates, hope its just not flattened. Brilliant video Paul, cheers mate.
hi Stephen, Hope you’re keeping well? It’s certainly cold the last few days to make sure you do stay warm and safe.
As you write they mentioned and I have mentioned many times Blackpool is certainly been regenerated things take time it’s not an overnight project and all these hotels it’s huge projects not just for the council but for the owners. Things will change as things never stay the same forever but onwards and upwards is the way forward I think.
It’ll be great looking back in a few years time and just seen the huge changes what’s happening.

Most of those old Edwardian/ Victorian hotels need pulling down imho , would cost more to bring them up to modern specs and expectations than building from scratch , trouble is they won’t be rebuilding hotels , they will be private flats/ apartments/ townhouses and without the available hotel accommodation tourist numbers are limited , can’t see Blackpool has a viable future sadly .
@@muckle8Also there are just to many empty old guest houses and hotels, street after street of them. I'm certain the owners of these buildings are happy just to leave them to decay so that when they get so bad they will be compulsory purchased and demolished. The days of the cosy little guest houses are gone, the only hotels that seem to be doing ok are the larger ones like the Doric, Sheraton, etc up north prom. They have what people nowadays want, indoor and outdoor pools, bars, nightly entertainment, games rooms, pretty decent bedrooms and bathrooms, food served outside of meal times etc.
I would like to see affordable housing and social let's flats not just private landlord let's as they are so expensive maybe the pubs and bars that have closed down can be changed into flats and housing for the disabled homeless and families and also pensions and have a shop take away all nearby it needs to be more cleaner and safer as well I just got back from blackpool loved the south of it and central pier but the north of Blackpool and north shore well it didnt look good felt unsafe and depressing it needs a massive uplift it really does it needs to be cleaner safer better homes business at north shore to many dercit buildings pubs and just unpleasent dog mess and rubbish all over not pleasent being north shore

I live nearby to Clifton drive . I’ve been wondering for a while what’s going to happen to the Amberbanks care home. It’s a nice residential area that should be converted to apartments , but I bet it won’t be.

Another interesting video Paul. When you were in Burlington Road West you were opposite Silversands Hotel where I always stayed when I came to Blackpool and did do so for about 20 years but now I come with my daughter and grandkids we stay in a little b&b which is better for us having 2 SEN children

Hi Paul loved the video,it looks a beautiful day in Blackpool I bet it's not so warm there though,our Town Centre is really dismal especially in the old town just about all the shops are left empty and neglected it's not a very nice sight, I've no answer to your question I wish I had take care and thanks for the video ❤
good evening Janet many thanks for coming and also watching and yes it’s not just Blackpool is many of the towns, I’ve also been to places like Torquay Liverpool Manchester and each and everyone of these are suffering technology and times have changed and towns and cities certainly need to adapt and quickly before they get left behind Blackpool is trying but I guess the hotel is and other places like the tower pleasure Beach all need to bang the heads together and come up with solutions. It’s not hard. It’s not rocket science and each of these businesses Will benefit from each other.

Good evening Paul. Thank you for your lovely walk and drive around. Again a very nice and informative video. It’s very sad that all these lovely hotels are closed and boarded up but slowly it looks like things are getting better. It looks like Blackpool is very busy again this weekend. And the view of the sea and Blackpool tower looks fantastic as always. I love looking at the sea. The tower reflecting on the beach is a perfect picture. Well captured again Paul.

Great video. I stay in Blackpool quite often. Always in a decent hotel. I think one of the problems that puts people off Blackpool guest houses/ B&B's is the sheer neglect at the back of these places. I always take a room with a sea view or a suite if available. But many end up with a room at the rear of the building & one look out of the window at the rear with a view of what resembles a tip & walls with peeling paint & rendering just isn't pleasing on the eye.

hi Hazel many thanks for coming. I’m watching and yes certainly is a cold spell in Blackpool and all over the UK. As you mentioned it’s a shame about some of these buildings boarded up and out of action there’s two parts firstly it’s out of season and the second package holidays have certainly killed trade in seaside towns like Blackpool but I guess things never stay the same but there’s lots of regeneration Work going in Blackpool, full team so things will pick up. I guess Blackpool continues its transition. Many happy memories of those boarding houses in the 70’s and 80’s and enjoying the delights of Lewis’s, Binns and Woolworth - maybe not Pricebusters. But it is good that you have recorded the positives as well as the transitions to a brighter future for Blackpool

I did post a comment last night but can't find it. That happened to me with another comment i posted on another channel I watch.
It's great that that someone has bought the Yates building. Good to that the building is listed. Gives it some protection with it being art deco streamline.
I think that the package holiday did have a knock on effect to Blackpool and other seaside towns which were thriving at one time.
I wonder too with the older established hotels if people these days prefer more modern accommodation like the Holiday Inn, Travelodge Premier Inn etc? I wonder if they do more trade than the older hotels?
good evening Crystal many thanks for coming and watching firstly I’m not too sure what happened to your comment. I sometimes comment on videos and they disappear or just don’t post modern technology! And yes you’re certainly right in regards to some of the hotels people tend to want more facilities more luxury nowadays than years ago they used to want to be welcomed and a family environment I guess times are changing and people don’t stay in Blackpool and seaside town for long periods of time or day trips I guess Blackpool certainly needs to adapt to modern times, still much going on fantastic events and festivals all year round so I guess they just needs Kate more for this but I do feel sorry for most of the bed and guest houses small hotels and shops who sadly suffer in the changing times we are in.

The growing popularity of air b&b's and the big hotel chains moving in has finished off the small hotels in my opinion. People now expect big tv's and fancy decor instead of just a bed for the night.

Hi Paul excellent video the hotels that you mentioned I can't believe there up for sale the royal Alexandra was one half hotel was the southbank hotel and other side was called Alexandra Blackpool promotion s own it they don't care about the royal Alexandra or royal Carlton Albany hotel Albert road up for sale the Montclair hotel Albert road the Stafford hotel Albert road Walford hotel up for sale and the strand hotel on coronation Street in 1989 the hotel next door to the Colwyn belong to royal Windsor hotel at one time and the Hampton by Hilton hotel was where the palm beach hotel used to be and another hotel on Albert road was hotel of year in 2000 the la tour hotel it is closed down so sad to see these hotel up for sale it is packaged holiday's done this but blackpool is on the up thanks Paul excellent video take care pal from Keith 👍👍👍👍👍

I thought they were going to pull them all down and resort casinos like Las Vegas. Where people don't have to go out gambling, restaurants and shows and accommodation is all inside.

I would have imagined that all of these former pubs and B&B’s in Blackpool would have been demolished and either developed into brand new luxury apartments for the super-rich or turned into some kind of “regeneration” project for the local council

@ Being Irish and with extended family still living in Rural Ireland near Dublin, having lived 24 years in Manchester myself, what’s happening to these other little towns in the U.K. is truly shameful, as the local people in these areas deserve far better - it’s totally disgraceful what they are doing to such an iconic place like Blackpool, as even train stations in North Wales are preserved as listed buildings, as I’ve seen for myself when I get the train and ferry home to Ireland from Holyhead

good morning Kevin many thanks for coming and yes as you said you can go abroad now for under £300 per person for week in the Sun sadly this is drove a lot of people and tourists away from seaside town like Blackpool. However Blackpool has adapted by hosting some fantastic events and festivals which certainly drive visitors into the area. As for the bed and prep and small guest houses a lot of people just come for the day so I guess things need to change in that respect but Blackpool certainly as I mentioned hosts a lot of fantastic events and festivals. . Hamptons by Hilton replacing the old Palm Beach hotel site. Now extended to cover the full site with obviously far more bedrooms. Not long before the delaphidated ones on the side approaching Hamptons by Hilton, to be flattened and replaced. Also the site owned by Malaysian Fragrance Hotel Group. The same one that one those three skyscrapers holding up a ship like structure. 5 or 7 star like Al Baroujj in Dubai. Yeah from £5000 per night.. Hardly Mayfair 😂
Hi Paul excellent video the buildings that have a lot of history to them and building next door to papas fish and chips why don't papas knocked through the building might need a lot of work done to it yeah a lot of hotels especially Adelaide house hotel is up for sale excellent hotel I think owners want to retire and further down on Albert road from aspire hotel and elmora house hotel the central hotel they are owned by the calypso hotel they have bought the hotels and Walford hotel up for sale to well done the owners of the calypso hotel and what you pay for a hotel you get it when you sell it and everyone invest in blackpool and blackpool as not finished when we have most visitors than any UK seaside resort yeah you right Paul Blackpool as not finished I'm glad you tell people that Thanks and the winter gardens as a lot of events on this year and makes we happy seeing blackpool busy and excellent video on st John's square and the back streets of blackpool are very quiet and they are trying to the make the back streets and Foxhall area they doing just that and I can remember old guest houses on tylesdley road now gone and when I first visited blackpool all hotels and guesthouses were always busy and the empty hotels council will put people in them in the main by holiday areas I hope not a lot of the history in the empty hotels and Yates I can't believe nobody as not bought it yet a lot of potential being on south promenade thanks Paul excellent video take care pal from Keith 👍 👍👍👍👍👍

I'm from Glasgow I had a few wonderful family holidays about 30yr ago I don't think I be going back
A lot has to do with it was far cheaper to go abroad plus better weather, I remember staying at the Fixby Hotel b&b in the 1960's as a child, I can not remember exactly where it was but we used to walk up Talbot Square and can remember the original trams going up there. Sadly a lot of the old buildings were pulled down and concrete monstrosity's put up, same as in Newcastle upon Tyne.
many thanks for coming and watching and yes I fully agree package holidays have killed massive amount of tourism off in the UK, as you said package holidays are so cheap and you get the sunshine whereas if you do travel around the UK it’s more expensive due to petrol accommodation and entertainment which is such a shame. However Blackpool does host some fantastic events and festivals, which I guess keep the old town going. and yes, certainly some horrible concrete monstrosity lurking about None of the old police are thankfully being pulled down. hi Gary many thanks for your comments and it’s a shame you feel that way. I guess many towns and cities have declined in recent years. However Blackpool is trying to turn the corner plenty of regeneration work going ahead so don’t just write Blackpool off just yet :-) They still house plenty of fantastic events all year round however people don’t seem to holiday the long periods of time anymore it’s more day trips so I think Blackpool and the places certainly need to adapt for the changing Habits people have.

A friend stayed before Xmas 2adults 2 kids Mon till Friday spent over 1k b& b plus the tower etc and meals out,it rained for 3 days ,prob won't do it again .Not Blackpools fault just not viable in this climate.

I guess with the attractions especially with four people two adults two children the prices consume mount up! And yes certainly don’t get the weather like you do abroad which why a lot of people do want to go abroad these days with these package holidays it certainly killed a lot of trade. again many thanks for your honest feedback and also comments and hopefully things can change As they certainly need to. As I said earlier, sadly nobody cares for Britain's homeless. Too busy building luxury apartments with stupidly high service charges. 5 star hotels most of ones dying out were 3 star at best! Like grand in northern parade.
