hi Andy many thanks for a kind comments and yes some people leave negative comments on the channel but the end of the day you can only film what is in Blackpool itself, and to be fair watching this video back it does make you quite sad seeing Blackpool Samaria say like this… but this video is more for people who requested it as so many of the older generation of these streets in the past I want to rekindle special memories of this area. Many thanks Andy much appreciated and thank you for your support. All the very best and take Paul

Hi Paul thanks again for another fantastic video i see what you see history and beauty i love all the older buildings i have learned more about Blackpool because off watching your channel thank you so much again for sharing ❤❤👍👍👍
good evening Janet many thanks for your comment and watching and yes it’s fantastic learning about the old streets and the history. What comes along with them? How people used to live years ago and what the buildings used to be. I’m only just scratching the surface of Blackpool as many people will be. Even though I was born in Blackpool, I’m still learning and still striving to educate myself more and more. I’m glad you learned a little bit about Blackpool through the channel which is fantastic all the very best and make sure you take care
Evening Paul, evening everyone, you tell it as it is, as does, Stephen. People that know Blackpool know there is decay as with any other town. Blackpool is a lot bigger than people think, the problem is it's a lot of old businesses, hotels, shops etc and not houses. The council can't cover everything and then again a lot of people that visit never venture further than between south and north piers and never see the surrounding areas, they are beautiful. Imagine how much it would cost to compulsory purchase all these properties and renovate or demolish, would cost 10s of millions. Hate it when people call Blackpool, it's a damn site cleaner than most towns. They've started from the town centre renovating and it will take time. Brilliant video Paul, cheers mate.
good evening Stephen and to be fair there’s not much to add to that comment. Everything you’ve said is completely correct. Just a highlight a few points as you said the council cannot accommodate purchasing each business and empty shop and then renovate it including hotels as you said it will cost millions hundreds of millions of pounds and who’s going to pick up the top of the taxpayer And then the taxpayer will have to pay more they’ll be unhappy. It swings and roundabouts things take time things get old, like the old settlements we unearthed them nothing stays the same for ever. Trends move on and the world moves on if that makes sense however some of these buildings are fantastic hopefully things And the are improving dramatically in Blackpool Again, many thanks you can’t comment all the very best and take care, Paul
@TheBlackpoolLads spot on Paul. Keep doing what your doing concerning the video's, they show people what to expect and where to go. In such a short time you are up there with the best and thank you.
many thanks Steven and yes in 12 months the channel has a few people watching it Which is always great. Again many thanks for your support and enjoy the rest of your evening :-)
I love these back streets of Blackpool, it may be due to a bit of nostalgia thinking back to the olden days but I do still love them now. Thanks for the tour Paul.

Hi Paul, Ive been watching your last few videos and ignore what people say about bringing an area down. You do what you want I actually like seeing the back streets it provides interest you see some interesting things and sights on the back streets. Where you go on the promenade and there ain't as much interest really keep up the good work 👍
good afternoon and many thanks for your kind comments I’m watching, sometimes is quite emotional filming things like this streets like this but at the end of the day it’s part of our history part of peoples history who visited Blackpool from all over the world want to see the streets and hotels they want stayed in years ago. again I think it’s important to show different areas of Blackpool anybody to be fair and video the promenade up and down each day and the tower and the piers But there’s more to Blackpool than the seafront, and some of these buildings and roads are Some of the oldest in Blackpool and in history. Again many thanks for watching the previous videos. He’s always very much appreciated and your support take great care and enjoy the rest of your evening.

good evening George many thanks for comments and watching and yes I have fun memories of walking down Waterloo Road when I was a kid. Also I remember the shops were so busy they’re so many people around and just filming It was certainly emotional. The history is on the streets and the people have walked down them the generations. It’s incredible as well as the buildings again. Many thanks. All the best and take care of yourself Paul.

Thanks for showing us around Paul, I only really know the north end. Sorry, was it Waterloo Road you used walk along as a wee lad? Can I ask what years that would be please? Ha ha ha, I'm cheeky trying work out your age.
hi David many thanks for comments and that was in the late 80s when I used to walk around Waterloo Road area, to be fair I live near Stanley Park when I was a kids would never really ventured into town. :-)

hi Denise, many thanks for your comments and support much appreciated and yes as you say there’s some fantastic stunning buildings with such charm and character as you walk along the streets. All the best and take care Paul.
good afternoon Mark many thanks for your kind comment. Much appreciated and yes I would imagine this certainly help that should be put in place to help these independent shops and struggling traders manage that little better, as you could see there’s not many people around and if it wasn’t for these small shops still, keeping the head above water more and more these shops would go under. Many thanks all the very best and enjoy the rest of your evening. Take care.
many thanks for your reply, Mark and many thanks for watching the videos. It’s very much appreciated. Thank you and yes all the best for yourself for 2025! Take care Paul.
Hi Paul excellent from Bolton street in blackpool the back of the hotels and some of the back of hotels need some work done and south shore area I can't believe how different it is now when I first visited it as kid it was a excellent area and a lot of places have closed down I like south shore area I can't believe how it was changed and I blame blackpool council for that it is like they have forgotten about south shore area and when the pleasure beach was cheap this area was thriving and now it is not 10:20 great which is a shame and I miss Yates south shore and Waterloo road area had so many shops and so did bond street I think bond as suffered the most and you are right about south shore being a rich area to live and some excellent buildings with a lot of history to it and station road was first hotel in blackpool I stayed back in 1990 I was only 1 year old and happy memories the hotel was called Granville hotel was winner on four in a bed thanks Paul excellent video take care pal from Keith 👍 👍👍👍👍
hi Keith, many thanks for coming and taking the time in that wonderful story and information also. There’s not much really to add to your comment but it’s great that you share with everybody so many thanks for that. I hope you’re keeping well. Well all the very best and take care, Paul.
many thanks for your comment and also watching and yes certainly there’s lots of regeneration programs going ahead in the north side hopefully the south side won’t be forgotten about fingers crossed. Many thanks for your coming all the very best and take care Paul.
Been coming to Blackpool almost every year for nigh on 60 years and already got 2 breaks booked for 2025. I have to admit that the decline seems to have accelerated since 2020 and COVID. It's still my favourite place to have a break but maybe that's a generation thing. I so wish that a turning point could be reached and a revival start but perhaps that's just a pipe dream.
good evening Alan and many thanks for your comment and watching and glad you are booked up again for 2025. Things take time to improve it requires a lot of effort money and planning there’s A lot of plans regeneration things going ahead and things being discussed around the table so hopefully in years to come things will improve dramatically. Again, many thanks for coming all the best and take care, Paul.
11.30 in Video the entrance to the car park once stood a Garage, Can't think of the name ? could be Commercial garage, and the promenade side was a hotel
One of the things that set the turnaround of Bond ST , from great ,to struggling , and killed of lot's off shops , was the council's decision to make Bond st, a one way, just that one decision killed off most off the shops, what a disaster , and when the council eventually turned it back to two way, well it was too late, many shops had gone under , who are these people who such foolish decisions .
hi James, and yes, I heard about this and sadly you’re right after doing some research. This is not really my area as I live near Stanley Park when I was a kid and Now live in Bispham so it’s fascinating learning more about Blackpool and what is behind each street? It’s amazing as they say you never too old to learn again. Many thanks for the information. All the best thank you and take care, Paul.
Your vids never show the negative, but I've lived in Thornton and also clevelys for 3 years and just moved to Lancaster and there is alot of negatives tbh so people that complain about the negatives need to wake up and smell reality,Blackpool is run down that's a fact and it's not really safe on a night out compared to other towns,I'm from london born and bred
good afternoon Paul many thanks for your comments and watching, it’s a shame that this area has gone down ill traumatically in the last few decades as this was a thriving and busting with life area years ago. Again many people have walked down the streets and wanted to have a glimpse of what they look like now, as the older generation certainly have walked down here shopping and stayed. All the best and take care, Paul.
Fond memories of day trips to Blackpool in the 1970s . Parents would take three of us ( all under 10 ) on the train, beach would be packed with tens of thousands of day trippers , mum would berate dad to let us have half an hour in the arcades and a walk around the pleasure beach ( free to enter back then ) it must have been exhausting for all the mums and dads but it was fantastic family time .
good evening and many thanks for your comment and sharing that great story with everybody much appreciated and yes so many people like yourself very fun memories of Blackpool. It certainly was a place to be in being fantastic being part of that. Great that so many people even living abroad nowadays remember coming to Blackpool and spending time walking along the promenade and having great fun. Again many thanks and glad it sparks Some great memories for you. All the very best, many thanks again and take care, Paul
many thanks and I believe I remember the job centre but not too sure about willies nightclub. I’ll have to have a look at that one :-) but thanks for the information.
@@TheBlackpoolLads 2 Doors up from that chippy the black small door was Jokers night club, it was downstairs in the basement and next to that was Job centre.
The question the Labour Council needs to be constantly asked is why did they not submit a single Levelling Up bid for these areas? They have to own this.
hi Paul, many thanks for comments, and to be fair I don’t get into politics, but I appreciate the comment nevertheless all the very best and take care yourself
I saw this coming 20 years ago, The Loss of Blackpool airport, Cheap Spanish holidays where people were staying for a week in Blackpool are now only day trippers, Which resulted in shops and guest houses closing down Blackpool has got the highest crime rate per head in the UK and the highest death rate, more people drive now than 30 years ago, It's sad but Blackpool has become a Morecambe and a dumping ground for the undesirables.
good evening many thanks for coming and yes sadly as you mentioned a lot of cheap holidays to Spain and other places have killed a lot of seaside towns off where once over people used to flock to. I guess time never standstill For anybody
You certainly miss a lot.. No mention of the Sun inn on Bolton street, nor did you show the site of Rendezvous Cinema on bond street. You never mentioned the lock Ness monster on bond street either. What about the casino which burnt down on station road, or the New market on waterloo road🤷
many thanks becoming sadly I can’t cover everything within the time period. If you have a look at some previous videos I did mention old cinemas. Certainly the one on Bond Street is even up as a short, thanks for sharing the information you mentioned in your comment with everybody much appreciated all the very best and take care.
And all this for free, yeah, didn't show the lamp post that used to be there on the corner of Waterloo rd and bond street as well. Here's an idea, try finding the time and expense and doing it yourself. 🤔🤔
place is decrepit, it's not got anything to offer, bet the mayor still wears a fat gold chain of office though, bet car drivers are easy prey up there with all those double yellows though, how can the b&b stand a chance with no parking????????
It's sad now it just looks like a zombie apocalypse mixed with beer monsters blackpool council should be ashamed of themselves they have spent millions of pounds on the Talbot gateway project and holiday inn hotel and posh restaurant and new council building instead of investing in the poorest areas around North and south shore just like in your video what a shame 😢
hi Ian and yes certainly the money has been spent on the northside. Let’s hope they don’t forget about the southside which is just as important. I think all the best and take care

We used to stay on Alexandra rd, so much to do on them streets years ago and the front , very rarely went up to the tower area.
good evening George many thanks for comments and watching and yes I have fun memories of walking down Waterloo Road when I was a kid. Also I remember the shops were so busy they’re so many people around and just filming It was certainly emotional. The history is on the streets and the people have walked down them the generations. It’s incredible as well as the buildings again. Many thanks. All the best and take care of yourself Paul.
Thanks Paul for showing this side, I remember how this was such a busy area years ago
good afternoon Jeff many thanks for your comments and watching and yes you speak such a popular area are used to be the heart of the shopping in Blackpool. Again many thanks all the best and take care.
I LOVE BOND STREET,THEY AN OLD SHOP SELL STARWARS TOYS I BET ITS GONE NOW LOVE THAT STREET,GOOD MEMORIES,
hi Gary many thanks for your comment and yes some wonderful independent shops have now gone along this trip. It’s quite sad and emotional even filming this.
Again many thanks all very best and take care Paul.
@@TheBlackpoolLads Things change nomatter where you're brought up. Wigan looks totally different from when I was a kid. Ha ha I didn't expect you to answer my question. You must be younger than me at 53.
@@TheBlackpoolLads You spent more time in Torquay 😂
I lived in Torquay for about 10 years :-)
hi David and yes things never stay the same sadly and yes I’m younger than 53 :-)
Very interesting video, thank you for that. I don't understand people being negative because you can only show Blackpool how it is and there's still some stunning buildings around. Anyway I enjoyed it 😁😁😁😁 👏👏👍👍👍
hi Denise, many thanks for your comments and support much appreciated and yes as you say there’s some fantastic stunning buildings with such charm and character as you walk along the streets. All the best and take care Paul.
Fantastic video true history wish the council could help those traders and people who live there many thanks from Mark
good afternoon Mark many thanks for your kind comment. Take care.
Thank you very much for your reply we watch your videos all the time happy New year to you keep up the fantastic work
many thanks for your reply, Mark and many thanks for watching the videos.
You said it Keith, the pleasure beach has a lot to answer for the demise of south shore, everyone visited that area in bygone years, not anymore.
hi Keith, many thanks for coming and taking the time in that wonderful story and information also. There’s not much really to add to your comment but it’s great that you share with everybody so many thanks for that. I hope you’re keeping well. Well all the very best and take care, Paul.
Looks like Blackpool north area is getting all the revamp and regeneration.
And the southshore area is lagging behind and suffering somewhat.
many thanks for your comment and also watching and yes certainly there’s lots of regeneration programs going ahead in the north side hopefully the south side won’t be forgotten about fingers crossed. Many thanks for your coming all the very best and take care Paul.
Really good video Paul great stuff
hi Tom and many thanks for your comments. Much appreciated all the very best and take care.
11.30 in Video the entrance to the car park once stood a Garage, Can't think of the name ? could be Commercial garage, and the promenade side was a hotel
many thanks for coming and yes, I think you’re right with that one
One of the things that set the turnaround of Bond ST , from great ,to struggling , and killed of lot's off shops , was the council's decision to make Bond st, a one way, just that one decision killed off most off the shops, what a disaster , and when the council eventually turned it back to two way, well it was too late, many shops had gone under , who are these people who such foolish decisions .
You could be right there.
hi James, and yes, I heard about this and sadly you’re right after doing some research.
Businesses suffered on Waterloo road when council made it a 1 way street in the 90's
Can't help but notice, every street is double yellowed, if it's impossible to park, who's gonna bother shopping ?
hi Peter, many thanks for your comment and yes, I certainly a problem with highlighted for shoppers. All the best and take care.
👍👍👍👍👍
many thanks, Stephen
Hi paul l think all towns and cities have good areas and bad thanks for the vid 😊
many thanks Julie. Much appreciated and yes, sadly most towns and cities have certain areas like this unfortunately. All the very best and take care.
@TheBlackpoolLads you too
Was the shoe market on Bond Street still trading Paul?
hi Graham and yes the shoe market on Bond Street is still located and is still trading into this day :-)
Paul can you remember the Job centre on waterloo rd and Willys night club
many thanks and I believe I remember the job centre but not too sure about willies nightclub. I’ll have to have a look at that one :-) but thanks for the information.
@@TheBlackpoolLads 2 Doors up from that chippy the black small door was Jokers night club, it was downstairs in the basement and next to that was Job centre.
The whole country is finished we better buckle up the next few years are going to be tough for most.
hi Scott, yes, I think we’re in for a rough ride as you said. Hope you’re keeping well? All the best and take care.
Do we know what is going in where Mrs Johnsons Emporium used to be?
hi Linda, as of this moment I’m not sure but I can certainly look into for you
@TheBlackpoolLads Thanks, I know the building was sold but not as a going concern.
Hmo s
place is decrepit, it's not got anything to offer, bet the mayor still wears a fat gold chain of office though, bet car drivers are easy prey up there with all those double yellows though, how can the b&b stand a chance with no parking????????
It's sad now it just looks like a zombie apocalypse mixed with beer monsters blackpool council should be ashamed of themselves they have spent millions of pounds on the Talbot gateway project and holiday inn hotel and posh restaurant and new council building instead of investing in the poorest areas around North and south shore just like in your video what a shame 😢
hi Ian and yes certainly the money has been spent on the northside. Let’s hope they don’t forget about the southside which is just as important. I think all the best and take care
The internet
very true, Anthony
