*It's such a shame that he burned out so quick. I remember when my Lakers used to play the Jazz in the playoffs for a few years straight and Deron would LIGHT us up all the time. Dude was crazy good, back then I had him rated higher than CP3.*
Very true! Can’t believe how fast he fell off! Seeing him on the Cavs in 2017 was sad. He wasn’t even a shell of himself. The crazy thing is that he was still so young and had so much left but work ethic was horrible I guess.
Same. People forget how insanely good Williams was with the Jazz. Stockton was my fav player of all time for sure.. but when i went back a few years later to actually look at the nba again (after Stocktons retirement) ..i was stunned of how good DW was. I was like o.o wow .. is basketball still watchable maybe ? ( i have extremely high standardsif im going to watch a pro sport. Ive watched (and played) since the early 80s so i know good basketball). I actually was watching again because of him. Later i saw too much of the cheat crap of the nba ofcourse aNd Sloan retiring and Jazz not respecting Sloan properly, DW leaving etc ... so it once again turned to 💩 so i havnt really watched since .. only have taken a glance here and there. Meh no thanks. Post Stockton (and post DW) nba is garbage. But yea i think either DWs heart just left the game and-or he was throwing games at the end. Hopefully it was just the former not the latter ay. My heart would have left the nba game too in those years to be honest so i can understand that.
Dwill looked like he was on his way to being a top 10 PG of all time at least! His years in Utah were phenomenal and him and CP3 were the next great PGs while Steve Nash and Jason Kidd were at their end of their primes. Sad to see his career end the way it did. He was never the same after the trade from Utah. He has one of the most effective crossovers ever..rivaling that of Tim Hardaway when considering how he shifts the defenders with ease. Dude was cold!
The Deron Williams / Chris Paul conversation just goes to show, work ethic beats talent every day of the week. Deron was most def the more talented ball player but Chris clearly is the harder worker.
I owned his Jazz and Nets jerseys. In his younger playing days where he was fit and very much in shape, he can ball in the tough west. But as he got older, he fell out of shape, the bloat is noticeable and many pointed out that his focus was elsewhere, alluding to the fact that D-Will was getting more interested in golf and MMA off the court. That finals series with the Cavs, I think mentally he wasn't prepared for that kind of atmosphere and true enough, conditioning was an issue. When he retired, I think he owned an MMA gym and got into shape.
Shortly after he was traded to the Nets, he played for Greece one summer during the NBA lockout season. He was the only NBA player who did that and I always thought it was strange for a player of his caliber at the time doing that. Looking back now, I think he knew he wasn’t going to be the same player as in Utah and tried to get as much money as he can before people figured it out. I think maybe it was his injuries...
This is kinda like Melo. Melo was doing decent but doing inconsistent on the thunder and rockets. But the difference is that he actually worked hard to get back to be a decent efficient player as in role player. But in honesty tho I feel bad for Deron Williams but I mean if you don’t work hard enough to stay at the level then you will have declines and show department
People have to appreciate CP3 and his unbelievable longevity. CP3 is the best point guard ever who is 34 plus and the best point guard ever for someone in their 15th or later
dude legit had the talent to be considered one of the best point guards of his era. and yeah, he was for a short time, but just didnt put in the work/care enough for it to last any significant amount of time at all.
His career with the jazz I think he made the most out of it, but after that he was disappointing specially his stint with the nets. That should have been some sort of motivation for him having an all star caliber cast, that team was suppose to be on par with the heat or even beat them and he was the leader of that team.
@@hugopalma9926 My mistake I meant it's amazing how many Americans do that. Native English speaking Americans pronouncing it with the s its insane to me
He absolutely was. Hayward and Kanter didn't get there until 2011...and Favors was literally traded for him. From 2007-2011, Dwill was 100% the face of the Jazz.
I'd love to see u do a video on the top 25 or 50 players of the century so far. I think we can all have a healthy debate about that because most of us started watching around 03 or 05. The all time list kinda' speculation but a list of players we watched would be very interesting
Cp3 was averaging 20 and 11 while being the best guard defender in the league. He was also leading his team to 50 plus wins. Deron Williams was not a good defender and cp3 was a better scorer and passer.
After the Athelstan who were TRUE blue chips get to the NBA and find out they have to throw games, make other players look good for promotional purposes of the NBA building new name stars and etc, it just kills their spirit for the game! Never forget that the Cavs are undefeated when Deron Williams scores in a playoff game🤣
Legendary
😂He had one job
LeBron's Headband"all he had to do is score one MF point"😆💯
is this true?
Charles Cooks sadly true lmao
Back when there was actual debate about who was better between him and CP3

Dude was suprising athletic too
suupahype yup, he was a sneaky athlete
I can’t lie I forgot Deron Williams was THIS cold averaging double doubles like nothing
It's sad for him i was a fan of him with his time in new jersey and brooklyn.

Nah Chris Paul was always the better player. He almost won mvp his 3rd year.

He passed on joining the defending Champion Dallas Mavs to get dealt to the Nets, it was all downhill after that
Real fans know Deron Williams was a bucket getter 💯💯💯 I think imo injuries just broke his confidence
Good video my guy.
Allen iverson shooting splits prime 38 27 75. Considerd a great for some reason

I feel sad watching the video he used to my idol back in the days
YM didn't tell me to wash my hands at the end so im not gon do it
Pliss do a video on roy gilbert monta elis nate robinson and dany granger
When I look at Basketball reference or his accolades I always wondered what happened to him
His work ethic he didn’t really love the game
From which side or chanel do use your clips and pictures?
0:07 My man seriously just pronounced the ‘s’ at the end of Illinois. What country you from Yung Mustard?
I'm honestly amazed how many people do this. I really don't understand it
@@DANtheMANofSIPA because it's imposible to know if you are not told that it is pronouncef that way, english it's just a dumb language

im not from the states and ive heard Illinois enough times to know u dont say the "s" at the end of it. this is actually quite embarrassing
Hugo Palma English is not a dumb language, that is a dumb statement. Also Illinois would be of French decent or something with the silent ‘s’
He got exposed as a system player. RIP Jerry Sloan
Not really... He became more injury prone and undisciplined in New Jersey/ Brooklyn
@@kcuba1228 exactly what this dude had just said, he got exposed as a system player
I used to believe he was better than CP3. He always dominated their matchups
Remember seeing him in the 2012 olympics and thinking WTF this bum doing here? I'm guessing he replaced Rose
I think it was the system that made him look better
2010 was second round 2007 was wcf vs spurs buy you mentioned lakers other years and 2010 lakers vs suns
my guy said illinoise 😑
Wasn’t their face of the franchise that sixth man guard kanter Hayward favours etc
He absolutely was. Hayward and Kanter didn't get there until 2011...and Favors was literally traded for him. From 2007-2011, Dwill was 100% the face of the Jazz.
Men he need to play one season more 😪
He screwed over Jerry Sloan and karma paid him a visit
Its sad to see what happened to his career.
The sleights at rondo tho smh 🤦♂️
What did the mavs want when rondo who was better did bad
One of my favourites back in early 2010's. Best PG in the leauge with cp3 at that time :)
Nah that was mid 2000s. Early 2010s is when Deron started going downhill
He wasn't above CP3 though.
People were overrating Deron.

I feel he woulda played better had he been with the team since the beginning of the year
Charity stripe not strike
Nigga disappeared after his tenure with the Cavs
Yung guy I'm sure you didn't average more than Skip Bayless in High School. Mustard I'm going to let it go.
Kyrie Irving and DWill were not on the Cavs at the same time.
Yes they were. It was the 2017 NBA Playoffs when it happened, before Irving was traded to the Celtics.
@@chrismathgenius I thought it was 2018, after Irving was traded.
BEST PG IN THE LEAGUE IN 2009!!
Nah
Cp3 was always the best point guard in the league from 2008 to 2014
Besides 1 year with rose
Cp3 was averaging 20 and 11 while being the best guard defender in the league. He was also leading his team to 50 plus wins. Deron Williams was not a good defender and cp3 was a better scorer and passer.
Kyrie? Elite in 2011 and 2012? TF!?!?
He woke up one day and decided to be trash
injuries and age. but mostly injuries
Kyrie Irving was a rookie lmao and Irving made his second last year . So Lowry Thomas CP3 and others should be there
