The early 2000's Clippers deserve their own stunted growth team feature. If Michael Olowokandi, Lamar Odom, Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson would've lived up to their potential, they could've competed with the Lakers as the dominant team for that era. Put a competent pass first point guard in that line up to get those guys shots in the right spots, you got a perennial contender.

Those kids were not good influences on each other and everyone but Elton Brand sorta never grew up. Don't forget, Andre Miller was supposed to take that young core to the playoffs but they were so dysfunctional when he got there he basically gave up on the team in the first month.

He had that Paul Pierce game where he played like a 50 year old man until suddenly he was driving through the lane to dunk on you.
Never quite understood why he fell in love with his 3pt shot as much as he did because he was an unbelievable slasher along with having an amazing 1st step and a crazy vertical.
He also was listed at 6-6 but was more like 6-4 on his tip toes.

His game is how non star wings play today. The advanced stats would have loved him. He was ahead of the game abandoning the midrange. He'd be very solid in today's game with the spacing.

To be fair that whole 2000s Clippers squad as exciting and talented as they were to watch they just needed veteran leadership to wrangle them in and keep them focused. Not too mention they had an owner at that time who didn't give two shits about improving the team had them practicing at an LA city college and only cared about the profits

Respect your content but for Quentin Richardson you are way off with this one bro. I don’t think his growth was stunt rather he optimized his game the most he could at each level and became a reliable professional that could rebound , shoot the 3 , and play tough defense. A Chicago high school basketball legend, he’s style of play embodied his city, tough around the basketball, a nack for rebounded , and playing very efficient offensive lay. And this is only at roughly 6’3”. He went to college and developed the 3 point shot but still played around the basket. He used the new tools to be relevant for 10 + years.

Could he have been a star??? He was one. Like, i mean i guess people have different ideas of what makes a star NBA player i guess, cuz in my book if your one of the top few leading scorers for an NBA team multiple years, your a star. Certainly not an all-star, but a integral to a teams success nonetheless.

Like him on every team he played on he was a problem especially with the suns 🌞 memeber that year at all-star 🌟 game 🎮 they damn near cleaned awards with Steve Nash getting the skills challenge Amaré almost winning the dunk contest Phoenix winning the team challenge and Q-Rich going crazy in the 3point shootout especially that 2 to last rack he didn't miss. Brandy was in the crowd cheering for him because they were engaged

You summed his career up perfectly! Personally, I don't think he was very good but I saw him on the downside of his career with the Knicks. He seemed a bit undersized and not very athletic.
However, I have the utmost respect for anyone who could last in the league as long as he did and make money. Because working a job for someone else truly sucks!
Much love to Q dog and I love his podcast with Darius Miles!
