Nice video. Good to see that you make videos still. I found your channel couple weeks ago and got through your old brewtools stuff. I really love your high end videos. They really show what are benefits of those expensive gear and what you pay for.
can't wait to get my hands on one... being apologetic for hacking a cooler... I don't trust homebrewers that done hack things together sometimes. it works. great vid
I like it. I don't own one, but I believe I will get a couple at that price. Way cheaper than the metal options. I do have a small portable regulator that takes bigger C02 cartridges. I am not suggesting you are looking to replace the Soda Stream can, but BevRite sells a 74 gram cartridge in multi pack. Cheers Portly.
Very informative - love it. A couple of questions - how tall is the bottle with the dispenser top attached? Also, did you use a 5 gallon cooler or a 10 gallon - the reason I ask is I wanted to build a party dispenser with 4 or 5 of these 8 liter bottles and a gas bottle...but I wanted everything tucked inside. I thought about one of the chest type coolers with wheels - but how deep do they need to be?
It's about 21 and 3/4 in tall. I used a 5 gallon. I decided the extra cost for the 10 wasn't worth it. It might fit a little better potentially, but would also take far more ice to fill. That's an awesome project! I'd love to see a photo when you complete it. Instagram my friend!
Great video! At around minute 7 you mentioned something about having a plastic bottle as a portable CO2 container. Could you please share or show that setup? Thanks in advance
Is it possible to purge these bottles (never done it before) with the soda stream and regulator you showed? Perhaps can you do a video how to do that and how you fill these up from the fermentor.
Yes you can definitely purge them. I fill them up with a basic counter pressure transfer the same as you would have keg essentially. I will consider producing a video though 🍻
You can easily purge with the provided fittings. Fill with beer, top with 20psi of CO2. Pop the release valve two or three times. That's now purged of oxygen and filled with CO2. Give a rock back and forth for 30 seconds, turn the gas off and let settle. Keep chilled, attach dispensing line and turn the gas to dispensing pressure. You're good to go!!
Just got the regulator for "on the go" use. Really nice size, and the soda stream bottles are just so much nicer than 6KG CO2 cylinders!
I agree 100%, I'm happy you like it 🍻

Thank you there's lots more on the way 🍻🍻
@@PortlyGentleman looking forward to it! It's been a while!
🍻🍻🍻
thanks for the idea of changing the PRV, I had mine sitting unused for months because a faulty PRV
Of course! 🍻🍻
Informative and great video as always. Cheers!
Thank you 🍻
Good to know. Thanks for the info.

Thank you very very much 🍻🍻
thanks for the great info and even in metric 😉
My pleasure!🍻
Looks like a great way to share beer. Too bad I don't ;ive near any of my beer brewing and consuming friends
Sounds like it's time to make some new ones my friend 🍻
yep but in a widely spaced town of 700 where I'm sure light lagers rule, that may prove challenging@@PortlyGentleman
Very good thanks

Nice and thank you 🍻🍻
Want one of those fancy growlers for skiing, but this maybe a better solution. A 5gal keg would invite too many moochers;)
I personally think it's the way to go 🍻

Does the PRV work correctly if it's in the horizontal position? Or does it have to be vertical so that it's exposed to gas pressure?
I think you would definitely want to store it standing up. The PRV will work in any position
Can these be used for carbonating with sugar? Thinking of getting a few for my first ever brew!
You could definitely do that
