This is awesome! Shout out to our 3.5 BBL Pro Brewing Partners at Twisted Fate Brewing and to you, Steve, for bringing this amazing collaboration to life. Cheers.
Very cool. I’ve done this with my best friend in a Pro-Am contest for ASH with Desert Monks brewing. It was the best experience and can confirm something I’ll never forget. Art, and the rest of the owners are incredible people and willing to share so much with us. Cheers!
Having done the same thing, brewing beer at my local brewery, I can attest to the hop aromas.... I think what it is, is the breweries are getting bags in bulk that are packed at the hop farm, not broken down and repacked by brew stores. I am lucky that I have a good supplier who gets hops super fresh straight from the farm and I get them within days of him repacking, so I get good fresh, vibrant hops at home, most brewers aren't so lucky.
I frequently visit Dave and the team, and I was excited to see this collab. You guys did great! Maybe you can get out to Notch or BackBeat Brewing sometime.
Started home brewing as a hobby in my early 20s, but I will end up studying Brewing and Distilling at uni to hopefully become a pro. Wish me luck 😁 Also the beers look fantastic 🍻
Pretty cool. That would be fun to do. I've been able to brew with a pro on a pro system twice, but never brewed one of the same recipe on my system and did a side by side. Brewing in a professional setting like that was VERY enlightening as well.
Food flavourings seem to be the same that once broken down into smaller amounts for retail there must be a change as certainly from possible multiple package opening. Not ignoring as you've said about commercial batches
What a great experience and a great video! Please include the water profile/mineral additions in your brew day beeak down video! I'm curious to see what kind of water profile they are using up there. I always target high chloride to sulfate additions, use 30% or more wheat/oats, aim for higher final gravity (1.018 - 1.022), target a final pH around 4.1 - 4.3, and my NEIPAs still seem to fall flat of what some of these pros are putting out for that soft mouthfeel. My flavor/aroma is all there, but I have yet to get that extremely soft, pillowy mouth feel.
Awesome vid! Definitely know the fun of getting to do a collab beer with pros. The restaurant I work at was the first account of a smaller, local brewery and we decided to collaborate on one together. Since we're a pizzeria, we naturally did an italian pils. Turned out awesome and I always make time to show up for subsequent batches of it. And because I work in an open kitchen, whenever barstaff/waitstaff tell people that it was my recipe, I stop whatever I'm doing and finger gun at them 🤣🤣
Cool video. After listening to Fidens on the Craft Beer & Brewing podcast, I have started to cap my tanks with a few points to go. The head retention is way better. Give it a try on your next hazy.
What a great video! Can you do more of these in the future? Ps what a great name “twisted fate” having what happened to him during the pandemic! Awesome story
That was awesome! I hope you'll get to do more of this kind of collabs, I find it very interesting! Question: for your version did you simply scale down with the same ratios? Cheers from Hungary!
Always impressed people can just drop stuff and start a business. Would I love to own a brewery? Sure. But just don't have it in me to try, life is too comfy to fail at the moment
I think the sense I get is that there is a big separation between places like tree house and similar large, expanding breweries and the smaller guys. In new england and especially in mass, people are very loyal/supportive of their local places and support them well, so if they are well established with the community and taking up space in local liquor stores they can do quite well.
Loved this video! I have to get over to Twisted Fate Brewing and try out their beers. One question….at about the 7 minute mark, you said “However, there’s a small amount of ______ going into the mash hops to unlock bound Thiols.” What does he add and when?
@@jackhandy7237 Basically saaz and a handful of other varieties of hops are high in bound thiols, and adding them to the mash exposes them to enzymes which can separate those thiols from the hops.
What about settign aside a fraction of LITERALLY the same ingredients - same bags of malt, same lots/bags of hops, etc. Since homebrew hops get treated as a commodity I find there's huge variation in opening a given bag of Mosaic or Galaxy for example. Pro brewers experience this too but they tend to get contracts with relative consistency, they aren't going "hmm I think I need to re-up my Mosaic for a beer this weekend"
Personally I've always attributed the difference between large brewery hops and homebrew was the fact that by the time homebrewers get their 1-8 oz bags the original bags have been opened and revealed several times so the aromas have changed due to the small amounts of oxidation. Who knows. I have no proof but kinda made sense.
I dont think homebrewer hop bags get opened and clsoed several times before being sold. As far as I know they are packaged in the same places the pro hops are
@@TheApartmentBrewer could be. When I order from northern brewer though they are in NB bags vs when I order direct from hop supplies they are in vacuum sealed industry style bags. Could be the fact that they are vacuum sealed.
Man this makes me want to quit my job and go work for a brewery now I'm not alcoholic I don't drink to get drunk I used to hate IPAs but man I love them My favorites are stouts but to work for a brewery company man that'd be awesome
Ah ok I was confused. As I said the full recipe will be published in next week's video but it's basically a mix of pils and pale malt for the base, 15% each Flaked oats and Flaked wheat, some malted wheat and a touch of caramel 100
Goodnight! From the video, your beer must be delicious, but because I don't know English and the Google translation on Yutube is very bad. I can't follow the recipe steps. Congratulations on the video.
This is awesome! Shout out to our 3.5 BBL Pro Brewing Partners at Twisted Fate Brewing and to you, Steve, for bringing this amazing collaboration to life. Cheers.
Hey I brew on a Blichmann 3.5 bbl pro system also. Nice job guys. 🍻🍻
Thanks for watching and supporting the homebrew community!
This was an awesome video Steve! Awesome work and really cool experience, glad you got to do it!
Thanks man! It was a really fun experiment and something that hopefully I can do again!
Love that opaque color!
Well that just looked like a ton of fun! Next stop Nova Scotia!
Now there's an idea!
What a fun project! Wish I was closer! I still gotta send you some beers, I’m slacking hard!!! Cheers 🍻
No worries! Thanks for watching!

As a brewer who inspires to go professional this video was a pleasure to watch! Brew On!
Awesome! Keep up the passion!
Great Video Mate, as a Homebrewer and aspiring brewery owner I can't get enough of the ins and outs of different breweries. awesome job.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job at being an interviewer! felt very natural and chill. Great episode, but i say that every time, but it's true.
Awesome! I'm enjoying this little departure from the usual videos

Such a good idea for a video. I have always wondered how the recipes scale from home to commercial. Hope you do more of these!
Collabs are among my favorite kinds of videos to make so I intend to do more!
Delicious looking and sounding beers! Fascinating experiment. Thanks for posting another cracking video!
Glad you enjoyed it!

I'm at Notch every so often - would love to brew with them!
What an awesome experience you got to have! Look forward to next week's episode.
Hope you enjoy the recipe!
This was really cool and well done. Love your channel! Cheers
This is really cool and insightful, looking foreward to your brew day for this

Podemos fazer o mesmo. .eu em Portugal e tu no EUA? ok.. pensa..

It is very similar in many ways to homebrewing while simultaneously being very different!
Well done, guys! Looks like this was a lot of fun!
It was a great time!
Excellent job, lads, can't wait to see the homebrew video. Cheers, Steve!
I think you are going to enjoy this one!
So fun! Think you could spot the difference in a triangle test?
I think so, but I'm biased haha
What a great idea for a video. Cheers!

Yup, that water profile is included in next weeks video, as always. Its a high Cl:SO4 ratio but not too extreme.

Looks like you had a great time. Good stuff guys! Send me one Steve !
It was awesome! I'll put one in the back of the fridge for brajcon
I got to brew on a 10BBL system once. Was so much fun!
You can definitely appreciate the scale factor at that level!
Woah, that's amazing! Dave is a viewer of mine too and has sent some stuff my way to review. Go Twisted Fate!
Awesome!
Cool video. After listening to Fidens on the Craft Beer & Brewing podcast, I have started to cap my tanks with a few points to go. The head retention is way better. Give it a try on your next hazy.
This beer was sealed up (with a spunding valve) on day 3
I like their always on tap selection. My favorites
There are usually a few more lagers on besides the pils too!
Great video at one of my favorite breweries.
Glad you enjoyed it!
WOW!!!! Very cool man, what a great experience!!!!!
This is so badass on so many levels!
😎👍🏻👍🏻🍺🍺 cheers!!!!
It was awesome!
Awesome job mate. Enjoyed this one.
Thank you!

Cheers from Hungary!
Pretty much, just loaded the 7 bbl batch into brewing software and scaled it down.
Love videos like this, hope to one day follow in the same shoes. Appreciate you guys!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome man! Love to see you guys getting into our KIWI hops! Recipe in the next video?
Yes! Full grain to glass
Any chance the homebrew version could be shared?
Next week's video!
Great video!
Always impressed people can just drop stuff and start a business.

No risk, no rewards! But I completely understand - thats a whole other level of stress
@@TheApartmentBrewer I have enough stress with 2 kids and a third on the way
Congratulations!
Great video… why does the pros look soo much more delicious!?
I wish heavily hopped beers didn't start giving me indigestion as I got older. They taste incredible, but really mess my stomach up now. Not sure why.
I wonder if they are too young and need a little more time to mature and get rid of the hop burn
This is great! Keep it up!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really cool video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video 🎉
Thanks!
Really cool project. Living in Mass. do you sense that small breweries struggle to compete with the very popular Tree House brand? Thank you.
I think the sense I get is that there is a big separation between places like tree house and similar large, expanding breweries and the smaller guys. It is Saaz.
Yup, Saaz for mash hops
@@TheApartmentBrewer - I’ll ask the dumb question…why does adding Saaz hops to the mash unlock bounds thiols? What makes these hops so special?

Great brewery and only 20 mins from my house. I may have to make my way over and try that out.
Let me know what you think if you do!

I think we all get that urge sometimes!
I wonder if not sparging makes a difference to colour?
Maybe? Didn't think of that variable
Still no gladfields malt in an new Zealand beer?
Its really hard for homebrewers to get gladfields here, let alone pro brewers
So what kind of molds are in there,
Or even better what's the recipe?
molds? The recipe will be next weeks video
Malts**
