Dont forget everyone. Ease into it. Take your time and learn the exercises and save the really hard efforts for later on when you progressive overload. Its should be months before you even think about training to failure.
A good option for squats when you can’t lift the bar is to use a PVC pipe (many commercial gyms have them for warmup exercises) it will help keep the arms up and in the correct position without adding significant weight. Also easy to load onto the back even outside a rack.

I'm not Greg's biggest fan but this video really warmed me up to him. I like his approach to teaching someone who's completely new to the discipline. Learn the basics, learn them with good form and the fancier shenanigans will eventually come into play as you learn. No need to try to hit PRs or even lift too heavy. Lots of love for you, Brent! Your transformation is insane and can't wait to see what's in store for you in the future. Keep killing it (:

Absolutely. I have massive respect for fitness influencers who worked really hard to get their perfect body, but at the same time they are also pretty demoralising, because they set the bar too high. The first clip I saw from Brently was when he showed that he can now stand up without hands and can dangle for a couple of seconds and he was so happy about it and it was such an inspiration. Now I started to hit the gym again myself, but now I don't look in the mirror an get frustrated because I'm still so far off a great body like I did in the past, I look in the mirror and I'm happy about every small progress I made.

You killed it, man! Did much better than I did my first time in a commercial gym. Your form is in point, such a good base for your journey. The worst thing that could happen is an injury that derails your consistency, but the form is how you mitigate that risk. Something I'm not sure Greg pointed out is you're not letting the weight rest on your wrists, you're keeping them tight and behind the bar which is exactly what you want to do. Keep on keepin' on, man!
I’m always so happy to see big people going to the gym, like you, they’ve taken the biggest step forward in trying to change their lives. Keep being positive and work hard like you’re doing now and you’ll see the payoff. Greg already has put you on a great path and you’re form is already really good, especially with the squat!
I could really tell that you were nervous as it was your first time in a commercial gym. I was like that the first few times I went. But it’s amazing you’ve got Greg there to help and support you. And even when he’s not there, don’t worry… everyone in there is focusing on themselves and if they do glance or look at you it’s out of admiration as a lot of people have never seen the inside of a gym
He is doing great, I love Brent cuz his weight loss journey isn't fabricated, this is probably the best legit weight loss journey that I have seen so far.
Exactly. If anything, the people giving the 500lbs dude glances in the gym are actually probably thinking things along the lines of praise and "Holy shit, if this guy can do it, then so can I!" I've never once thought poorly of anyone trying their best in the gym. I'll cringe at bad form, but never at bad physiques, and you call always improve your form. We're all in there to make progress, and when we see people starting from truly challenging places, I can only be inspired. I may be fitter than Brently here by a wide margin (after lifting for like a decade), but he's providing me a TON of inspiration. I know how much harder it is to start without properly formed habits and diet, and I can't imagine how much more difficult my fitness journey would have been starting from 500lbs instead of a super skinny 6' 3" 145 lbs. I was super embarrassed starting to lift as a hyper-skinny dude whose heart could always be observed beating because I was full skeletor mode, but I knew the only way to achieve the goals I desired was to keep at it. Fingers crossed for Brently to make it, and for the rest of us too! Keep at it everyone! Also +1 respect for a Zoro icon good sir. Fit weebs are the best weebs. Gotta have that opinion after reading all of One Piece 3 times XD.

It’s awesome to see Big Brently get in the gym and get so good so fast! I hope he reads this, because I was nearly 300 lbs at 12 years old, now I am 16 and just under 200 lbs, it was so worth it! I hope to see coach Greg assist in every step of the journey
I’m loving all this positivity! This is the side of the fitness industry I absolutely love. We are all here to support you! The gym doesn’t only make your body strong, but your mind strong too. There is something so powerful about purposefully putting yourself in a tough situation and literally coming out stronger. It’s an amazing feeling
Absolutely. I love the true marathon mentality. Discipline is a patient man's game and will produce the most consistent results. I know we all wanna get in there and give 100%, but it pays so much to just focus on form initially and set your habits so that you'll still be coming back for years. I've never seen any obese regulars remain that way at the gyms I've attended. The people who consistently strive to improve themselves slowly will always make progress. It's also the best way to fall in love with working out. Cheers mates and keep after it!
Man I read this comment sections and it's amazing how this guy just by taking the first step is inspiring another people to follow him in this rough path!. Good job man! Its eemed like you were super nervous, but you pushed through and had a very successful session. Keep up the good work man!! You'll get the hang of it, just remember....
100% agree. Everyone who has worked out or been there has a rough idea of how hard this must be. Nothing but admiration
So many people out here rooting for you. Can’t explain how powerful your story is!
Man, coach Greg is such a humble and genuinely kind human being. So proud of this video. Much love from Brazil.
I love that Coach Greg was able to work with this man. We all deserve opportunities like this in life
Recent heart break but brentley is too wholesome for me to stay sad, I love you man I hope you realise how much this channels helping in and out of the gym
It’ll pass, just remember one day the pain will subside .. keep going king
just keep going brah
as for all who starts out, we got ya back cause like Zyzz once said, we're all gonna make it
Thanks for the support brothers, like a fool i went back and got my heartbroken all over again on valentines day itself 🤣 this time im putting all my energy into the gym. Were all gonna make ittt
@Mcorley M I'm sorry to hear that, brother. Keep your head up, and don't let it make you bitter. You'll make it through and be a better man on the other side.
Remember to be honest about how you feel, both to yourself and the people around you, like your parents or your friends.
Most importantly, dont give up, youve got HUGE potential in front of you!!
Dude you're such a quick study. Watching you figure out these lifts so quickly and even improve your form from one rep to the next is awesome. And I'm sure it didn't hurt that you got to work with such a gilded coach
saw one of your shorts and came to the page to support my man on his journey. We love you big dawg, keep it up you beautiful bastard
This is so wholesome. Ive seen your progression videos on social media and to see you working with Greg just warms my heart. Keep up the good work! I look forward to see your progression.
It's just so wholesome to see him going on and on everyday and how he gets excited over the most normal things that most people do.
But that's because its an achievement for him and I am so fucking proud of it! Keep om going Brentlty! You are doing more good that you can imagine!
Bro I'm so proud seeing you! Thank you everytime i see you happy it gives me tears.. Thanks man. Live long and be happy brother! We love you!
A great Duo right there, Let's goooooo

Cant wait to see this man's transformation! He's so positive about the journey, just that alone means he will make it through!
People like you make me so proud brother. You will get the physique you desire sooner or later! You deserve it for your efforts! Champion! 🏆
You are the real G for wanting to improve yourself, we are with you on this grind.
Video by video, my man is revolutionizing the fitness industry by just being who he is and working towards his goal. Never stop, mate, we're all gonna make it.
Dude you are a beast! Keep working with Greg it's definitely a blast to watch!
Man props to coach Greg for taking the time to help this guy out and show him the ropes.....
This is so amazing. two legendary influencers in their unique ways. One that knows everything, and one that's showing what it's like to go through with it, starting from the beginning. such an amazing combo.
It's so inspiring to see people like this taking control and doing something about it. It's much more fun to see that than ripped dudes flashing their muscles in the gym! Good work bro! Keep going!
Brently your calves are absolutely insane bro. I am super excited to see them when you lose more weight! Keep going, huge inspiration man!!!
This awesome to see. Appreciate the realness of both of them. This is real body positivity: being healthy. Respect to both.

Great work! You’re doing awesome!! It’s awesome to see coach Gregg teaching the basics. Sometimes we forget what we had to go through to get where we are.
LET'S GO YOU MET COACH GREG, omg I'm so proud of you for showing up to a gym for the first time, you're progress is amazing and very admirable! I hope to see you get fit and never give up!!! You're awesome and so inspirational! 🔥 😎
My man you have the respect of every gymbro, i wish you luck in the journey to greatness! 10/10, W!
This guy is so positive, bro I wish u to stay motivated and keep this up, ur truly an awesome human being
You have one of the most wholesome and constructive viewpoints on Fitness I have ever seen. Thank you for doing what you do and being who you are. You are a gem and fitness community like none other.
Brent you are an inspiration!!! KEEP IT UP, HARDER THAN LAST TIME! So proud of you, enjoy the ride! I hope you keep Greg as your coach, he really cares
Absolutely loved this Brently, you genuinely inspire me. So glad you're doing this, keep going brother ✊
Youre an insliration not only as gym motivation but as a human being. The pure wholesomeness in this video made my day. Keep grinding and hopefully well see u on stage some time in the future
The two legends finally meet! Greg, you're a great coach and Brently you're on a path of success! I believe in you!
Dude this is awesome, you are actually inspiring so many people to get out there and get fit. Props to Coach Greg as well, this is exactly the type of interaction the fitness industry needs keep at it ^_^
You can be so proud of yourself my mans. Keep pushing you are a true inspiration to thousands of people!!!
Coach Greg shows that working out can be fun and easy to do even with little to no experience, I really love that message. Also so glad that you guys did a collab, I saw him comment on your video and thought it would be so cool if you guys made a video together.
Good job man! Its eemed like you were super nervous, but you pushed through and had a very successful session. Keep up the good work man!! You'll get the hang of it, just remember.... FORM is way more important than increasing the weight or increasing the reps etc, poor form will hinder your progress.
It's always great to see people wanting and actually putting effort into bettering themselves.
I look forward to seeing your journey bro!
brother what you're doing is an inspiration to myself and everyone who is following you on you're journey. the hardest part of the journey is getting starting when you start to see results you wont want to leave the gym. sending love from Canada
Love this guy. Such a good attitude
Welcome to the journey brother!!! You couldn't have picked a better man to assist you. You're a lucky guy to get personal advice from Greg Doucette, I'm jealous. I wish I knew what i knew now when I started out so you'll be making gains and all rather fast with such key advice as long as you keep sticking to it. Much respect
You are a true inspiration, I my self lost 49 Kg in 3 months last year, I know it's a struggle. Keep it up man, I will follow you to the end!
BRENTLY YOU GOT THIIIIIIS YOU CAN DO IT
so much respect for you working in the gym for yourself man love it
Dedication, patience and an open mind combined are unstoppable
brently you are so inspiring man, i love seeing your pogress. i wouldn't be trying to better myself if i didnt come across you
I always love seeing such a dynamic during training, and especially between an elite lifter and a beginner with a long way to go. Continue the grind, and you'll make it big time, no matter how long it takes
Keep it up king! We're all rooting for your weight loss journey. You're such an inspiration to people like me.
This is amazing, thank you both
Must be overwhelming going to a busy public gym for the first time. I remember that first time until this day lol. Awsome video, love to see people improve!
I’m glad Greg is teaching you to bench with a pause rather than a touch and go motion. The pause bench has become my default way of benching and I think it should be for most people.
Edit: I’m also really happy to see Greg introducing the mag grips on the pulldowns!
Greg is just great! I see young guys coming to the gym and the "teachers" ignoring mistakes that could cause serious injuries and not even taking the time to explain why they should start with very low weights.
Here with ya homie, I'm gonna follow you through this thing man. You aren't alone, you have 60k people with ya. Keep going, don't give up. Get up one more time than you fall down and we will all be cheering you on.
dude this is so huge. great job getting here. you are an absolute inspiration. keep it up.
Good work my man! It's NOT EASY getting into the gym for the first time.. its can be intimidating, scary, overwhelming, etc., so well done. Love you're letting coach greg teach you--not many better! Keep up the hard work, we all start somewhere!
Stay strong brother, you're an inspiration. One day at a time!
Coach Greg is a really awesome man! Always looking out for others
Bro you are a huge source of inspiration and motivation. even tho i'm trying to put on weight and muscle after being hit by a car and not being able to move around for 6 months. our end goals be the same. happier and healthier :)
Ah, Brently - you did great in there. Some good form and some definition on the triceps already. Little by little and you've got this nailed.
Kudos to Greg. It could've been easy to be his normal persona but he was quiet(!) informative, patient, encouraging. All killer - no filler and everyone wins like that. So glad to see the colab happen...
It's so nice to see how the gym community has evolved from the 90's early 00's to now. It's so positive and I'm all here for it.
Your trainer is very good and giving you sound and safe advice, im always very critical of a lot of trainers but I find this guy is great at breaking down technique. These high rep body weight work outs he's puting you through will melt the fat cells, keep it up!
Brently your squat form improved drastically throughout your set, you were getting really good depth. Keep it up! You're a huge inspiration!
Yo, seeing you working out and enjoying it inspires me. Im 5’1 and weigh over 200 pounds but Im still doing great with my progress so far. I am hoping to see that you and your viewers, as well as me, get stronger and healthier together. Keep it up, big brotha. And lets do this together ❤
Well done brah!! Any updates?
Keep going king
Do it
Keep going bro
Bless you my man, Good luck. I believe in you
Keep up King 👑 Hoping to see more collabs like this one ! 💪
Great going Brently!
It seems you had a blast.
Slow but steady towards your goal. Saw the Greg video about your meet up as well.
The great mindset rubbed of, I could use that. Thank you guys.
