D , do i have the fuel filter screen strainer on my 2000 international, I changed the filter but did not know about this strainer , thank you so much , your knowledge is helping so many people 😊

Yes you do have a Strainer. If you look at the Fuel Filter. Notice the small like ice cream cone shape item behind the Fuel Filter. Most of the time. You can screw it off with your hand or it maybe easier to remove with the Fuel Filter off. There will be a Screen inside of it.

Hey there Dairle, thanks for the advice. So I went and bought a new primer pump and thought before I installed it, I'd test the other one by plugging both ports and it proved great suction. As soon as I filled up filter housing, and ran the air out of system, it ran mint up until today. I decided to do oil change on it and immediately after completed I we to fire up and it was choking just like before for a couple start/stops--then it won't start at all now. I primed the system and the bleed valve is shooting out diesel. I'm going to take the next advice and drain tank as the problems seemed to occur at at 1/4 tank. I was wondering if the pick-up tube has its own strainer? Another item that I'm sure matters, is that there is a dead-man switch, I don't ever use it cause truck is used on daily basis--however one of the guys always shuts it off end of each day. Thanks again for the informative work--I'm a small powerline contractor and these misc tasks I have to do myself save me huge especially with the great guidance!

There is a Strainer at the inlet Fuel Line on your Fuel Filter Housing coming from the Fuel Tank. It is very important to keep it clean. The best time to check your dead man switch is when the vehicle is acting up. I don't think that's the problem.

I have a question. When I use the primer and pull it out it feels like it wants to suck it back in. Almost like the priming procedure is backwards. Will a fuel leak/ air in the system cause this??

Great video. I followed it out. I was having stalling issues. I changed out the filter and unfortunately when I went to prime it, I realized my primer pump was burnt out. Like a dummy, I started anyway and ran the system out of fuel. I'm going to replace the primer pump, is there any other specifics to getting it going after primer/bleeding? Also, if it turns out the filter wasn't the problem (it wasn't that dirty when I pulled the old one), what other suggestions do you have. I bought the truck back in may and the issue has gotten progressively worse.

Make sure that you have no water in the Fuel Tank. There should be a drain plug on the bottom of the Tank. Water is heavier than Fuel so it will be on the bottom and Fuel on top. I'm not sure if that's the case with you or not. Also check your Fuel Tank and make sure that you do not have an item flowing that can get stuck at the pickup tube and cause your Fuel Filter to run dry.

I have a stupid question that hopefully you know the answer to
I have a 2006 international DT466 non mechanical in a rear pusher school bus.
My question to you is whether or not mine should have an in line fuel bleeding system as well

    • @dairleautoclassicrestorati6892

I would think your Vehicle Fuel System should be the same as in the video. I hope my video be helpful.

lets say after you start it up and 30 seconds later it cuts off and you go back to the primer and pump it up till it builds pressure to find out it has air in the system so you bleed it out the same way you did here and start it up and it cuts off after 30 seconds what problem am i having ?

    • @dairleautoclassicrestorati6892

I have known this to happen in some cases. I would check the line from the fuel filter housing to the fuel tank. And make sure that all of your rubber seals are in good condition or replace them. Your system has a small air leak.

How often do I need to replace the fuel filter?
