- Don't throw away the ends of the branches. Do this instead. In this new woodturning video the wood turning project is turned from a leftover piece of cedar branch. I turned an oil lamp using a larger container then the last one for a longer burn time. I added burn lines for more detail and finished it with friction polish that I make from shellac.
I hope you enjoy this new woodworking video. Thanks for watching! See you at the next wood turning video upload.

Hey Rus, great idea. Haven't seen this one before. Thanks for the video, I'll give it a try ...Dan
Thanks Dan! It's my alternative to tea lights.
You do come up with some clever ideas, and I love to see the ease at which you work 🌞
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy it!
Smart little lamp
Thank you Doug!
Like your work !! More !!!!
Thank you! I'll do my best!
I really like this idea for sure
Thank you!
I thought it would be a good alternative to tea lights.
Gr8 idea .nice one .
Thank you!
Nice!
You could use the wood lathe, make a little bell shaped end on a dowel, cut a circle of brass and spin up some candle snuffs. Buy a dozen tea lite get a snuff at cost?
Thanks! That's a good idea. Although the one I have came from the dollar store. Thanks for watching!
nice :)
Thank you!
...cool idea...👍...thanks for this...
I still don't have a bowl gouge as I use my belt/disc sander to sharpen what I do have, and I worry about destroying it on the sander. Maybe if you can show me how you get such a clean edge on yours, I could give it a shot???...
Matt
Thanks! I sharpen on a belt sander too. I showed a little bit a couple videos ago. You need the wolverine jig to hold the gouge. I think I paid around 30 bucks for it. That was more then my bowl gouge. Lol. I made a homemade base to set it in. I'll show some more in another video.
@@RcWoodturning ...thanks...that would be much appreciated...👍
I’ve been looking for a wood turning lathe. Yours looks interesting. Can you tell me the make and model of it? 😊 Please. 🙂
It's the 12 x 36 harbor freight model. It doesn't have much for bells and whistles but it's been a good one.
Thanks! I’ll check it out. I like Harbor Freight. 😊
where can I find the small containers you used in the video and what type of rope are you using

Thank you!
What type of finish do you use?
Friction polish. Made with shellac.
Awesome I am going to try it. One question. What finish do you put on?
Have fun! I use friction polish made with shellac.
@@RcWoodturning is it a receipe you came up with?
@@allendavis2144 Sort of. I mix it different then the way it's mixed online. I plan on doing a video on it soon. Basically I use the can of shellac from the hardware store and I mix a little bit of finish oil to it. If you pour the shellac into a 12 oz container you would add about 1 oz of finish oil. That's my approximate mixture.
@@RcWoodturningthank you sir much appreciated
@@RcWoodturninglooking forward to the video also
Are you using a beeswax rub plus a liquid of what?
No. If your referring to the yellow thing. It's a foam holder for sand paper. I use a friction polish made with shellac after sanding.

What do you dissolve your shellac in?
@@grahamevans9673 I use the premixed shellac in the can. I would use denatured alcohol to dissolve the flakes if I was doing it.
