I had a UTI turn into a near death kidney infection within 24 hours. They’re horrible. I did take a bath not knowing I had one and that was the moment it accelerated and I had to be rushed to the ER, take care of yourselves ladies! It definitely should be a topic talked about more because I feel like women are embarrassed to talk about them or anything to do with lady problems.

I suffered for soooo many years with UTIs, the only thing that really helped was drinking a little bit of water with half a teaspoon of baking soda. It really really help, you just need to wait a few minutes after drinking without go to the bathroom.
Half of teaspoon in the morning (or when you are feeling it burn) and half a teaspoon before you go to sleep. And don't forget to use some probiotics with antibiotics!!!
Hope you're feeling better, love from Italy ❤️

So sorry to hear that you've been feeling so sick from the meds. As someone who has suffered from regular UTIs, my best recommendation is just taking one day, laying in bed and sleeping it off. You can also take pain medication to help you fall asleep. My doctor told me not to drink too much water after taking the antibiotics so I don't flush out the meds too quickly. Anything cranberry is super helpful. The antibiotics are effective but the side effects are terrible. Hope you feel better soon x

My experience with UTI is that I first had a bladder infection. It got worse because I didn't do anything about it. I was unable to walk for a week due to the UTI and lost 10 pounds. My biggest lesson is that I always got a bladder infection after sex. This is because semen enters your urethra. So after sex to go to the toilet to pee and it never happened to me.

Hi Ashley, I have several UTI per year. I use "heat" to relieve the pain a hot-water-bag (don't know the right word in english) or heat belt ad the thermacare. Obviously, I take the antibiotics as prescribed by my GP. Last time I got to late to my doctor and had an UTI and a kidney infetion (pyelonephritis). It was really dangerous for me as i have only one kidney since my birth. It is always essential to take the good amount of antibiotics. To prevent the UTI you must drink a lot of water as well as cranberry juice, that can help to prevent one. Hope my advice can help some of you. Take care, Carole

Hey! You don't ask, but just wanted to share something that my dad (who is what you guys call a board certified MD in my country) told me as soon as I had my first UTI. He always makes me try to drink a lot of fresh squeezed orange juice and vitamin C tablets, before using antibiotics for UTI (I'm super sensible to antibiotics) the idea is to make your urine as acid as possible so you can kill and flush the bacterias that's making u sick. My love to Stella! (Not a English native so please excuse my poor grammar)

i‘ve had 10uti‘s in a year once, came back every tome after antibiotics. bicarbonate sodium/natron, mixes with a little water has saved me. haven‘t had any since. because its so severly alkali e it zakes the pain of peeing and i suspect the bacteria doesn‘t like the ph change in the bladder either. good luck. i know it‘s agony

  • @maggieb.1891

Try Ciprofloxacin antibiotics instead. Lots of water, pure cranberry juice, heating pad for your lower back. Bactrim antibiotics are very hard on the female body. If they still make you nauseous lower your MG and take them for a longer period of time and eat before you take them. Hopefully you feel better soon!

Happy belated birthday Stella! Also, hope you’re feeling better too! I’m sorry you had such a reaction to the antibiotics, that’s terrible 😞 if you ever have to take it again, tell your doctor about it. They should be able to prescribe zofran that you can take as needed for the nausea. Works like a charm!

  • @elelentakis

Agree with a lot of the girl’s UTI recommendations here. In Australia we also have something called Ural which is a urinary alkaliser (mainly contains bicarbonate) which I always mix into my water if I have UTI. Also cranberry juice, lots of water, probiotics. And definitely see the doctor ASAP for antibiotics to prevent kidney infection. Definitely let your doctor know about the nausea as you may be intolerant to that antibiotic, however there are several other options. Hope you’re feeling better x

Definitely take probiotics while you take the antibiotics, I used to get uti’s all the time and had to take antibiotics and after a while it wrecked my stomach lining. Utis are awful, I keep cranberry pills as a back up if I ever start to feel one coming on. Drinking water consistently throughout the day helps prevent them too. Hope my past uti struggles help you ☺️💗

I have something called interstitial cystitis; essentially it feels like I have a UTI super frequently, super bad, and for seemingly no reason most of the time. One thing I do know triggers it is soda; luckily I’m an unsweet tea gal (don’t tell my fellow Floridians, they may oust me from the south), unluckily, tea can also trigger it sometimes. There isn’t a lot known about the condition, and a diagnosis takes quite a bit of time because the only way to know is to count out all other options. I’ve had a bladder pacemaker, physical therapy, and now live off of azo (I’m sure that’s horrible long term). All that said, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with a UTI! Extra strength azo helps a lot, but be prepared to feel as though your kidneys are being squeezed for 5-10 minutes. It’s incredibly painful as it works it’s way through your system, but provides relief of burning for half a day or so once that pain subsides.
If someone reading this gets UTI symptoms, but is proven not to actually have a UTI over and over again through labwork, I hope this helps in speaking to a physician and asking about it! Also, if anyone else has IC I’d love to know any tips you have; even after 19 years living with it, it’s not gotten any easier. ❤️

One time I got an uti when I was in Canada visiting my BF and I almost die of pain cause same at first I wasn’t sure what it was, I was sick of it the entire time I visit him (3 weeks) it was so bad by the time I took the fly back I could barely walk and the pain in my lower back was horrible, got home my dads parter took me to the hospital and bum! Kidney infection! Had to take insane amount of antibiotics for a week that made me throw up but it work and I had just to take the bad w the good(hopefully curing the damn thing and yea it cured) so now as soon as I get the slightly feel I may have it I swallow cranberry juice as if it’s air. Also go to pee as soon as u feel like peeing. Some of my friends do pineapple juice. Gotta keep out the bug from getting cozy inside of us lol

Definitely try your hardest to finish the antibiotics. It’s common to start feeling better way before they’re finished, but that doesn’t mean all the bad bacteria has been killed off. Leaving it around when it’s been exposed to the antibiotics can lead to antibiotic resistance, meaning you’d have to go on even stronger antibiotics.
There aren’t any remedies for a UTI once it’s set in but there are some things you can do to reduce the likelihood of them recurring often. Drink lots of water, pee after sex, check if any products you use in that area are irritating.
Please if you get a UTI get antibiotics and don’t try to wait it out, it’s unlikely to resolve on its own and can travel up the urethra to the bladder and kidneys and cause some really bad complications and potentially sepsis, which is life-threatening.

a UTI is the worst, I’ve gotten them on & off since I was a teenager, try different types of antibiotics, some do make u nauseous , also ask for antibiotics that target your UTI, instead of broad spectrum antibiotics, because those kill your good gut bugs also!🌸

Beet juice helps get rid of it so fast my mom taught me to juice the beets and drink it which is gross, but helpful. Also for the pain Azo For UTI helps with the symptoms sooooo much usually available at any CVS. Makes your pee orange, but helps with the discomfort.

But look, you'll take Stella to the vet asap, you should go see a doctor too, every bacteria that causes UTI responds to a different medicine.
    Hope you'll get well soon.

I’m gonna be honest, when I got a random UTI when traveling to visit my in-laws, I got some fresh pressed cranberry juice and diluted it with water and fresh pressed apple juice -- ya it wouldn’t subside from the miraculous cranberry juice. Honestly, I think the goal should just to get a ton of fluid in and as you said, flush out.

there's different kinds of antibiotics you can take for UTI's! Next time ask your doctor to prescribe you different ones that are less likely to make you nauseous.

The worst thing you can take for uti is antibiotics! You need 4grams sodium citrate 3 times a day for 2 days. This will change the pH of the urine so much, the bacteria won't be able to survive in there! The d-mannose is also helpful, it will cover the inside of the bladder so the bacteria won't be able to stick to it and they will be flushed out with the urine. I'm talking from experience. Had so many times uti, literally I was peeing BLOOD! and antibiotics just won't work after a while! It's so disgusting from doctors that they straight away prescribe antibiotics, causing so much other problems when there are other things too! Fkin hate them!! Every single time you have any type of sex go to pee after. YOU HAVE TO. Force it, run the tap, whatever helps but you have to flush out germs from the urinary tract. And don't forget to drink water. Once I had uti just because I was dehydrated.

Get back to the doctor, maybe she can switch you to a less nauseating antibiotic. But do take the complete course. You can develop an antibiotic-resistant strain, if not, and have it all your life, I know someone who this happened to. UTIs can be really bad!

My spaniel who is a caramel version of Stella is on a gastrointestinal type dog food and that has really kept her weight down as it is low fat. And she’s 13 so that’s quite the achievement!
I also really minimise her other snacks
