This is incredibly useful intel! I have been smitten by Ethiopian women since I worked alongside a habesha gal a few years ago. Her spirit was so very warm and inviting, and, in meeting other Ethiopian woman since, I've learned that this is a pretty common quality among the culture! I'm also Eastern Orthodox by faith, so meeting a gal who is Ethiopian Orthodox would be a tremendous benefit.
I'm so happy to hear you found the video helpful and thanks for sharing your experience! Great and very informative video! I am astonished with the amount of things that are just like in Poland (huge amounts of food, hospitality, asking many questions, showing respect to the elders and not showing too much affection around the family) that's really heartwarming to watch.
I am considering dating a Ethiopian woman because I am wanting to meet become friends with and hopefully marry a woman from a different culture because I have a vision for the family that I want to start and I’m not fond of what I find in American culture as far as the mindset of relationships and family. So thank you very much this video was very helpful I will subscribe for more contact
Very telling how you are running away from disgraceful black African american culture and trying to cleanse your family tree while habesha women run towards it. It shows our sisters in the West are lost. Very sad state of affairs.
Hey I just recently watched your video it was great and informative! I'm in the Washington DC area and wondering where the best place to meet a Ethiopian/Eritrean women would be?
Nice video, but please make one to the diaspora who wants to date girl in Ethiopia. I am dealing that are some cultural perspectives very different but I don't understand 😅 thanks
Bravo! Ethiopian culture is very similar to my Igbo culture from Nigeria. Family is central. Dating is practiced, but it is foreign. Usually, it's courtship then marriage. There is protocol for marriage that involves family. The only challenge I would have marrying an Ethiopian is language. I would have to learn the language, and I would highly recommend the woman learn Igbo. Very interestingly, my father's mother's family looks Ethiopian. I never really inquired to know their history.
Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. I find some cultural similarities with Nigerian culture (strong pride and identity, family expectations, etc..)
Hey lila, do you really understand what these kinds of videos will do to the habesha culture? Your creating a slipery slope, your essentially inviting other cultures to break us apart. Why would you?
Pretty good video but I thought that you left out a very big part of dating advice when getting to know a Habesha woman.. what about trying to learn a bit of the language? I think that is a very key piece of dating advice that you left out. Nothing speaks greater love for a woman's culture then at least learning a few words. Communication breaks all international romance barriers.
To all the fellas out there in hot pursuit of a lovely Habesha. This is what I did to win major respect and bonus points with my significant other and her family. I took African Studies as a minor at university. I wrote my capstone seminar research paper on Abyssinian history. I visited Ethiopia in person as a tourist. I watch Tigrayan news. I'm actively learning the language (Amharic and Tigrayan). I eat the traditional food as much as possible. I volunteer for and support initiatives of the Tigray Region. I learned every aspect of the culture that I can, each and every day. Total cultural immersion. I learned the history, the geopolitics, the politics, the culture, etc. Every possible thing that you can learn, then learn it. This has worked very well for me and I gained major credibility with my Habesha and her family. Best of luck! ☺️
I would add two things to that: 1. Apart from eating traditional food it's good also to be able to cook it, my Habesha man is over the moon when I prepare his cultural dishes for him! 2. Try finding similarities in your cultures. From my experience it's great to cherish what we share in common (I never would have though that Slavic culture here in Eastern Europe is sooo much alike the values of Ethiopian culture and that the perception of family and life are that similar) so it's always nice to celebrate these similarities together because it creates a sense of safety and unity.

What’s up Lila I’m African American and just recently subscribed to your channel. Love the energy and enthusiasm you bring. I would love 💕 to Date a Habesha woman and want a video to go more detail on how to approach and what are the do’s & don’ts or is it like dating a typical woman because our cultures are different..holla back
Of course you do. Because African-American men have a need to date non African American women and get upset at the other women who have no interest in them.
African American men are the only men of any culture shamed for exercising there agency and choosing to date women of other cultures. Goes to show how AA men’s free will is never considered and they simply must be beholden to a culture that as of today is not the most advantageous when it comes to marrying and long term relationships.
Do the men love hard. I’m currently get to know a men of that culture. He soooo nice and affectionate. We agree to take it slow but sometimes it seems like we attract each other real hard
That's awesome! It sounds like you have a good one on your hands because typically they are very nice, but not generally affectionate. But regardless of cultural norms/stereotypes, people are people so I'm glad you met someone that makes you feel special 😀
@@LilaTalks One, I do NOT like the western culture, morals, laws, and logic. Two, I like Easternize culture---they are the orginals and they got it right! Eastern culture, especially East Africa, gets it. I'm not saying that they are perfect but their priorities are in order. Eastern culture are family oriented and people are first. They have family oriented. They have morals, values, standars, respect, they are patriarchy. The have self-respect
@timhoward5 admiration is fine and dandy, question is do YOU practice this ways of life yourself…or do you just want someone raised in traditional culture that you’ll just eventually act western around anyways?

Thank you for watching and your input. I personally tend to date American men from the South, but live in big cities probably for the same points you mentioned 👆🏽. I find southern men to be family oriented, respectful and warm.
We do not meet boyfriends/girlfriends in our culture and we kiss 3 times as well and we are mostly orthodox as well. We also financial support our family back home. Elders are taken care off till the end. My mom spens 6 month with us in the U.S, every year. My culture is very pushy when it comes to food, hahaha. 80% of our culture appears to be the same. Fascinating! I'm from Macedonia. Macedonia men feel offended if you as the women he took out pays.
Thanks for this information. Not American or African but i am fascinated by the horn of Africa, given that i came on contact with these people recently. Really warm, friendly and quickly accepting once there is some level of cultural compatibility.
Your college roommate lied to you. As an Ethiopian woman if you have money and don't have love, respect, immerse in the culture I wouldn't be interested !
I loved the video. Just a concern that I love parents to come visit but what if the Mother inlaw is not the good type. 😢. This is very tricky. I better find out more about her parents during dating before marriage.
Thank you and yes, it’s really important to get a sense what type of family you are potentially marrying into and these goes for any culture. Are they open minded? Accepted? Liberal vs. Conservative? etc.
Also, another disclaimer... not all Americans only see their immediate family as family. The Afro-American community does have extended family.... including friends we grew up with. We consider them family. Even though not all of our communities are like that, many of us are.
Thanks for your comment. I agree with you to a degree. I think there are some sub-set communities within America (particularly the black community or folks from the south) that I've observed have a more extensive extended family. But if I am generalizing, most Americans, tend to keep things pretty tight within the immediate family. For example, an Ethiopian or Eritrean wedding may have 800 people and that is somewhat normal. It isn't about having money, it's about the close family and friend connections.
Wow that’s a very interesting topic. I have a video about my personal Black experience and my upbringing as an Ethiopian Eritrean America. But as for speaking on African trans, I feel I wouldn’t be able to adequately talk on that subject. I’ll just say that most African countries are very strict and religious when it comes to individuals sexuality and identified gender. Just like anywhere, but especially in Africa, people’s lives would be endangered if they express their identity in a certain way.
I'm American but I live in Sweden now and I must say that in the US I only saw women from the Horn of Africa dating only men from their culture or white men but never African American men. In Sweden, they're actually more curious about Black Americans but they still generally date in the same pattern.

Hello my name is Neil Evans. I am getting married to a beautiful Ethiopian woman. We met online and I am in the process of bringing her and her 2 kids to America
The term "Habesha" does not mean "burnt skin. " It means a person who is of "mixed origin," specifically, a mixture of ancient Sabean peoples and cultures from what is now Yemen with indigenous peoples in the Highlands of what is now called Ethiopia. The mixture formed the Tigrinya, Tigre, and Amharic speaking people of the northern highlands of Ethiopia. The term "Ethiopia" has a different etymological origin than "Habesha." The term "Ethiopia" comes from the ancient Greek language, and it means "burnt skin." Over time, the Habesha people co-opted the term and started calling themselves Ethiopians. Then, in the middle of the 19th century, the Amhara faction of the Habesha--now Ethiopians--launched an aggressive imperial expansion on non-Habesha, non Ethiopian peoples such as the Oromo people and forced on them an Ethiopian political identity. This imperial expansion was begun by Menelik II, the Amhara king who crowned himself emperor after he forced millions of non-Habesha people into a greatly expanded territory now known as Ethiopia. Most of the peoples in Ethiopia today are non-Habesha nor do they consider themselves Ethiopians! They are only Ethiopians in the political sense because they live in a state called Ethiopia, a political and state identity that was forced on them. This historical reality is at the root of the ethnic tensions in Ethiopia today!.
You mentioned what happened worldwide. Going forward is the way that going downward and walking in the past while sacrificing innocent civilians. You miss this part in your paragraph and just so you know I am a Proud Ethiopian with an Oromo background, and I love my Habesha families. At the end of the day genetics win than a term and genetically we are the same for the most part! Stay safe
I’m attracted to Ethiopian girls, especially their features, culture and music which is why I’m watching you. But honestly, I believe I can date anyone from anywhere, as long as we connect on a deeper level and share good chemistry. Beauty isn’t everything to me. I appreciate beautiful girls, but if someone has a bad heart, poor character, or is aggressive, that’s a dealbreaker. For me, it’s all about the vibe and the connection we share. ❤
I am in a similar situation I was born in America to west Indian parents. I to know the situation with families. So can you ( the host ) and I date ? 💝

I am a Nigerian, and I love and always dream of dating an Ethiopian beauty. I am planning to visit Ethiopia but I learned they are not too receptive to Nigeria, Please advise me
Very good advice. I met a girl in France whom I thought was the most beautiful creature ever. I don't know if I did something wrong but after a short period of interest in me, she suddenly " had to go". Since I had to return to the States, I lost track of her. I'd love to go back and try to find her, but I don't want to mess it up.
What I learned traveling it’s best just to go to a place and enjoy that place for what it is go to Ethiopia enjoy Ethiopia for Ethiopia, and if Luv finds you then it’s meant to be, but don’t force it if you don’t find love at least you got to enjoy a beautiful country😊

Ethiopia has 80+ ethnic groups and Eritrea has 9. You have 4 ethnic groups who live on both sides of the border. When people talk about similarities, they are referring to Habesha people. The main Habesha ethnic groups are Tigrinya and Amharic. We speak different languages but our food and culture are very similar.
@@filmont9383 pretty much covered it all! I would like to add that at one time the two countries were one, but Eritrea got its independence in 1991. Fun Fact - The northern part of Ethiopia in the Tigray region, speak Tigrinya like Eritrea.
Languages/ethnic groups are the difference. Eritreans don’t speak Amharic. Amharic is the major language of Ethiopia . The war started because Eritreans were forced to use Amharic in schools, newspapers, military, and all Eritrean languages like Tigrinya were publically banned. Most older Eritreans of the war era speak Amharic though because they learned it in primary school or moved to Addis Ababa-there is not much beef especially in this regard many have intermarried and in the diaspora, Eritreans/Ethiopians try to avoid political arguments and just go by the catch all term “Habesha”. Another difference is Eritrea borders Sudan/Red Sea so many Eritrean Muslims speak Arabic. I don’t think Arabic is spoken in Ethiopia and neither is Tigre (another Semitic Eritrean language very similar to Geez and Tigrinya and Arabic). However, Tigrinya (Eritrean language) is spoken in Ethiopia by Tigrayans- a region of Northern Ethiopia that borders Eritrea. Another minor language difference is Italian. Eritrea was once a colony of Italy from 1890- 1945 so you will find very old Eritreans who speak Italian as well as see Italian foods like cappuccino, spaghetti, and Italian pastries and architecture in Asmara. Along with the Orthodox Church, Catholicism is more present in Eritrea because of this while Pentecostal Christians are more prominent in Ethiopia. However, Eritrea may share stronger ties with Italy but Ethiopia has stronger ties to Israel due to its ancient Jewish population in Amhara regions known as Beta Israel who lived in places like Gonder and Wollo for thousands of years. Lots of Ethiopian Jews moved to Israel and still live there

Perhaps if more Ethiopians and their neighbors tried being open minded, discerning of character and accepting of other cultures as not less than but just different, this perception would not persist.

Great and very informative video! I am astonished with the amount of things that are just like in Poland (huge amounts of food, hospitality, asking many questions, showing respect to the elders and not showing too much affection around the family) that's really heartwarming to watch.

Oh wow, what seems to be the problem. I think this video explains some of the main differences between Western cultures vs. Habesha culture.
You are absolutely right! I don't speak my parent's native tongue so that's probably why I missed that very important point. Thank you!
bravo! I respect that :)
I appreciate that.... I'm planning my first trip to Ethiopia this December for 2 weeks...
I would add two things to that:
You're dumb to go through all that for any type of female.

It isn't about having money, it's about the close family and friend connections.
hey, can you do some videos on values systems, upbringing of children, how Ethiopians and Arik trans feel about other countries in Africa? thanks

Stay safe
People are talking about dating not politics. As politics your explanation come.from slavery and inferior mind

*What's the different between the Eritreans and Ethiopians?*
Eritrea was once a colony of Italy from 1890- 1945 so you will find very old
Eritreans who speak Italian as well as see Italian foods like cappuccino, spaghetti, and Italian pastries and architecture in Asmara.
Lots of Ethiopian Jews moved to Israel and still live there
@@marori1037 Wonderful! Thank you so much for your comments! My dad and many other Eritrean family members all speak Italian. In fact, I didn't even know for the longest time that the word macchina means car in Italian. I thought it was our word. Thanks for sharing your insights and providing additional context to this reply. Many Thanks!
@@marori1037 we certainly do not share stronger ties with Italy! We have maintained our languages and cultures and italian is not even an official language. Apart from architecture there is no other similarities.
