This is how to step your foot forward from a downward dog. I'll teach you multiple techniques that you can begin implementing TODAY that will improve and possibly completely change the way you get to the top of the mat.
You'll get your foot closer to your hands and feel stronger and more graceful in the process!
Thank you for practicing with me!
If you'd like to donate toward my free video making--I thank you and appreciate that so much!

Your control really allowed me to see what to do. Thank you. I have struggled with this move
Oh, that's great to hear! I appreciate your kind comment and let me know how it goes for you as you begin to integrate the concepts. It will definitely take time for the techniques to become second-nature, so take your time!
That is so helpful. I've practiced on/off for years by myself mostly and it's such a common part of yoga, but noone suggests how to do it :)
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for your kind words!
Great tutorial and demonstration 😃 it really helps when you break it into stages . Many thanks 🙌
It's my pleasure to break these things down. These moves aren't easy and we're just EXPECTED to know how to do them! Thank you for your kind words!
I had back surgery three weeks ago. I’ve been doing yoga for the last year. It’s really prepared me and help me greatly in my recovery. I had a hard time before the surgery and getting that foot forward from downward dog. I think I could do it now. He said to let myself recover a bit more of it thank you so much. Excellent instruction
Oh, yes--please let yourself heal fully. I'm sorry you had to go through that and I'm happy yoga has helped with your recovery. I just had surgery as well (2.5 weeks ago--hysterectomy and endometriosis excision surgery). When you are all better, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this and if if helped. Thank you for the kind comment! Best of luck in all you do! -Lizzie
Thank you at last someone has explained to me and I'm a yoga teacher 🙏
You're so welcome! So much of what I teach is stuff that I had to come to through my own practice because no one was explaining it & I had to find for myself the physics of how things worked. Trust your experience as you practice--be open to it and even if it seems new--if it WORKS--teach it! 🙏🏻❤️🤩
Thank you 🙏
You are so welcome! :)
Thank you for great instructions, I’ve never been able to do this, I’m one those people who lift their foot up to get position. Thanks so much
This warms my heart and I'm glad this was helpful. Also--it's still TOTALLY FINE to lift your foot up into position! There's no ONE way! :)
Your are super. Thanks.
Hey! That's so kind of you to say! I hope this video helped in any small way! :)
Tnk you so much for this video ❤
You are so very welcome! I appreciate you!
Phenomenal. Thank you !!!!~
Thanks for the kindness! :)
Thank you....this was awesome
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you! 😀
Stepping in my orthopedic shoes has never been so fun. Thanks for the great vid!
Glad you enjoyed! I need a pic of you doing yoga in orthopedic shoes!
No one explains it as well as you do, not even the yoga teachers. It’s like they are keeping this technique secret to themselves. Thank you. Will try it out.
Glad you found this helpful. I think that some of the teachers just aren't thinking about how to break this particular move down into such tiny fragments. It's just how my brain works. For some reason, I have always really looked at the transitions between the poses as hugely important.
Wow! This was soooo helpful
That is great to hear! Excellent! 😀
you are such a GREAT teacher. thank you!
This really means a lot to me. Thank you so much! 💗
Thank you, I love these technique videos. They are so helpful

You’re fantastic!❤
That makes my day, thank you!
Very helpful, being 6'3" with long legs this transition has always been a challenge for me. Thank you for posting this!
I really hope you find these things to bring more ease in your stepping transitions! :)
This is so helpful! I’ll keep trying, thank you 😊
Glad it was helpful! Yes, keep practicing and integrating--it will take time to become second-nature.

Thank you very much for explaining great. I felt like a piece of wood before but now, after watching your video, it is clear!!
You are welcome! I just adore when folks have break throughs! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is sooo helpful to me. I have always wanted a yoga teacher to address this. Thank you so much Lizzie
You're so welcome! I'm overjoyed that this was helpful to you! 💛💛💛
Lizzy, you are my savior, I cannot do pigeon pose because of my SI joint lacks range of motion. Consequently, I have all kinds of pain? Plantar fasciitis, sciatica, piriformus etc. after I watch your video, I can do the pigeon pose now. My hip has more range of motion. I just finished your video today. I am looking forward to reducing my pains by continuing using your ingenious techniques instructions. You are amazing 😊! Thank you so much!
Your kind words made my whole day! It brings me SO much joy to know I helped in any way. I'm hoping you continue to find ways to reduce and eliminate your pain. :)
Great explanations. Thank You 💐
I'm so happy you found this helpful! Happy New Year!
It's so important to prevent new injuries from happening. Happy New Year 🤗
@@Gidget_B_czt38 I agree! Yoga isn't inherently safe--we have to make it safe! :)
Looks easy when you do it. I know it’s a technique and thanks for sharing. I think this will help. I’ll put it into practice
I hope it will help, too! Please let me know if any questions arise as you implement the new actions.
You are a great instructor… love your sweet voice and calm demeanor. This video helps and encourages me to move forward with my yoga practice… thank you Lizzie❤
You are so welcome! How kind of you to say all of this. I'm thrilled my video helped! 💚
This is excellent. Very much thankful to you for this video. I was struggling with this posture for a long time & did not find a way out. Now I'm able to do this with ur fantastic technique. Much indebted to you. God bless
Wonderful! This is what I was hoping! I want people to know about little details that can improve their yoga experience! I appreciate that you left such a kind comment!
Thanks for explaining what was holding me back. I’m going to practice, practice, practice!
You've got this! 😍
Thanks @@Lizzie.Brooks 😁💪🏾
Thank you for confirming my technique is acceptable. I have always tented my hands.
You're very welcome! TRUST your techniques in all things. No teacher can feel what you're feeling and YOU are the only one who can find what is truly best for yourself. We need to focus less on the pose and more on finding the right benefits/adaptations for ourselves. I support you and your hand tenting! :)
Its super detailed and break down into every single small steps. Can you pls explain whether the body ratio may affect this pose? I have the torso longer than my legs, so even I tried to round my spine, draw belly, knees close to chest, my foot is still behind a bit from my hand when I step forward.
Your body ratio would definitely affect your ability to land your foot closer to your hands. If your torso were shorter with longer legs, this would be easier. We all have ratios that help in certain ways and hinder in others. Your long spine might help with back bending etc. So I'd not worry too much on trying to make it perfect, but just use these tools to get a bit closer. You can also shorten your downdog just before stepping to help a bit. 💛
@@Lizzie.Brookswow Shortening my downdog really helps to step forward. Thank you
@@heyvincy3312 I'm so glad that helped! :)
I want to turkısh explanation please🥰
I wish I knew how to do that!
Where did you purchase yoga mat in your video?
That mat is an old, discontinued one from Lululemon. I LOVED that mat! It had a great texture that I've not seen anywhere else. But I also love Jade Harmony mats. Here's a short video that details what to look for when shopping for a mat. Best of luck and let me know if you have any other questions! :) ua-cam.com/video/9rLDA-5elvM/v-deo.html
Hi Lori, I’m contacting some folks to update them on my work. I’m no longer able to sustain making all my videos here on UA-cam as I make zero money. I’ve been doing this for free for 18 months and I’m in need of an income. My heart is full, but my pockets are empty. If you are interested, I’m planning on moving to a super easy, beautiful, and affordable site to host my video content. I’m thinking $9.99 per month. Please email me your address if you have interest. Thank you for understanding. 🥰 LizzieBrooksYoga@gmail.com
do you have a 30-day yoga program
I'm so sorry that I don't have that. I do have over a hundred videos and you could do one of your choosing each day. Wishing you all my best. :)
