Ironized Dirt Effect -- CTX3030, Gold Bug II, AT Gold

While searching in discriminate, good targets read like junk in this red dirt from VA. All metal works great on all three machines in this dirt but discriminate is a different story.....

I prospect in Culpeper but mostly in Summerduck/Goldvien. There is so much iron in those creeks it's amazing. Love my Garrett AT Gold it still blows me away on what it can pick up and it's perfect for all that iron in those creeks.

I am searching for a 20 pound bronze box filled with gold nuggets in coins with tons of hot rocks. I’ve never owned a metal detector. Suggestions?

Jethro -- The F75 will do the same thing. I have hunted in that red dirt and if you look at some of my early videos you can see it doing this same effect...in all metal mode it will hit very well but in disc mode...it will knock stuff out as iron.

TheSlickpt I don't recall the number. When ground balancing I just turn the knob while bobbing the coil and listen for the audio to stabilize. The GB II easily canceled out this highly mineralized dirt;

In all metal what ID numbers did the CTX 3030 register?

+Randy Lunn The first number was in the 20's. Running the screen wide open, you will hear the button but it sounds and reads like iron. This will happen when your target is 6+ inches deep.
