Love your videos! I would be curious to see the same iron set up but with a few different targets, such as a silver dime, buttons, nugget ect. And see wether the at gold or at pro does better at hearing the targets in tough iron. Or even some other machines that would be ideal for target separation in high iron situations

I have a mine lab gpx 4000 and my go to for small gold near bed rock is gb2 ,it's screams on bird shot and the tiny pieces with the smaller coil.

I set the AT Gold to AMM with iron disc. The problem is, in this mode, when you go over iron, you will still hear a good “beep” surrounded by the low tone. It is very different than disc mode where you hear nothing but low tone while going over iron.
When placing the small nugget next to the nail, I clearly heard a good beep for each target but the nail cause the elongated low tone to continue to sound.
I see the iron tone AMM being good in the field but no in iron infested areas. Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I am wondering if the AT Gold is able to detect your small nugget next to the Nail with more accuracy in AMM, as the Iron Audio feature is still available in AMM. The areas I hunt have produced small nuggets (not for me as yet!), but they are in very trashy areas. This is why I have asked you this. Cheers.

Thanks for the demonstration. I would like to have seen this comparison with the AT Gold running in All Metal Mode, and not Disc 1 mode (it is not as sensitive in Disc modes).

Gold bug 2 isnt waterproof, major benefit for the AT GOLD.

The Equinox is waterproof and it will stomp the AT Gold. So if you have to have waterproof, the AT Gold still isn't the best choice.

It is well known that both the AT Gold and Gold Bug II are more sensitive in all metal. Doing this video in all metal would defeat the purpose unless you want to dig all iron signals too....
I have other videos showing both machines in all metal. Thanks

Great video. The large nugget ID dropped from 54 to 38 when next to the nail, which is a 16 point drop or approximately 50% of the iron nail disc by itself (29). Is this a coincidence or does iron typically cause a proportionate drop based on a set % of its own ID?

Great job on the vids. Question....I hunt a fresh water beach that is PAVED in old rusty nails and screw caps. I am not that concerned with coins, but want to find those gold rings, some are small and thin. What do you think about the AT Gold for this area. What size coil would you use, maybe a NEL Sharpshuter? Also, I nugget hunt in AZ a few times a year.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, the AT Gold is fast and would do well in iron areas. I like the NEL 5" to pull gold out of iron. The stock coil is also very good but it does separate as well since it is an 8" elliptical.

Hi great video! My name is Fab and I'm from OZ. I bought a At Gold about 6 years ago and have yet to find a single piece of gold with it. I go to the same areas as others with the Gold Bug 2 & Minelab Monster go to and who are finding gold, but I just dont seem to be able to detect any gold at all. Most of the gold about is wheat grain to pea sized gold and some of these detectorists find 40 pieces a day. I was just wondering if you could give me any advice as to how I should set my machine up to find small pieces of gold such as this. This area also has your other various iron, brass and iron stone ' hot rock targets' of which I detected several small corn kernel size iron stone pieces last trip. Please help me. Thanky ou

If you are looking just for gold, sell you ATP and go with the Gold Bug II or another high frequency gold machine. The ATP is a great all purpose detector but if you're just looking for gold, you may want to upgrade.

for me it is clearly proven ....the fisher is reliable around tiny gold..
the garret at gold is not.
i i was planned out to get me some tiny gold , i would choose without any doubt ...this particular fisher..
the at gold i would choose for less serious hunting.

So if the AT Gold is in all metal mode without Iron around, it would have no issue detecting the smaller nugget?

why not be fair and use a sniper coil for better separation it only makes sense. the sniper coil is the game changer.

*Set your AT Gold on "All Metal" mode and not on "Disc 1" like you have it and see what your results are. The "All Metal" mode is recommended for prospecting and also crank your sensitivity all the way up.* *You have your sensitivity set too low!*

You know the fisher gold bug 2 is, gold only, if that be the case then get a tesoro LoBo Super Trac gold only and put them side by side. the way your doing this make me think your trying to get people to go to the gold bug 2 your supposed to be neutral remember!
