I just test drove a '14 Panamera Turbo V-6. Amazing power, good ride, fits my 6-5, 226 lb. frame but a few things nag at me: Valve tick. Sounds expensive to fix. Wheels and exhaust tips hadn't been detailed in years. The car had already been in two minor accidents. Exhaust smelled of unburned hydrocarbons. Showing 91,000 miles. Three previous owners, none of whom seemed to loved the beast enough take better care of the motor. A LS460 of the same year and miles would have none of the issues.
@@Alexi7666Have you gone back and read what you typed? The only actual potential "defect" you even mention is valve tick. You are most likely hearing the Injectors which "ticking" is a normal sound in a DI system anyway. Everything else is condition related. So No LS460s are Ever neglected by their owners huh? lol
@@Alexi7666 you test drove a single Panamera and recommend a Lexus instead, based on that one test drive? What if the Lexus had similar, expensive issues? What if the Lexus owner was equally negligent? I can promise you it would be equally expensive. The Panamera is on par, or in some cases, cheaper to maintain than the S-class and Lexus.
@@relic2279 : I was quoted $600 just to change the air filter in a V-6 Turbo Panamera. The front bumper has to come off to change the air filter. Been my experience with Lexus/Acura products that they will easily hit 200,000 miles with just the usual maintenance. I had a '99 Acura TL that went 294,000 miles with the original exhaust, A/C and power window controls. Yeah, a Panamera is sportier, has more panache, but that's an expensive ego trip.

All of these things are pretty normal for all cars. Just keeping up with your maintenance is the problem I see. Nobody wants to when you're spending that much but that's how you keep cars for a long time. Just like us humans they need to eat and they want to eat parts and liquids.
We have an Audi with the same problem. If you disassemble and clean them, it usually fixes the issue. Carbon buildup was the issue on all 4 of our Audi doors.
Good day guys, I am on the a verge of buying a Porsche panamera 2014 4s, what should I look out for and is it a good idea mechanically speaking? Your urgent response will be highly appreciated…
Check out the common fault areas in the guide and the 4s in the engine section, these are the main areas worth looking out for on a possible purchase 👍
3.6 v6 Panamera 4 970 i always hear the timing chain for a sec in low speeds with windows down or when i push the gas pedal slightly to rev .. but after 120k milage .. i think it will continue to hit 300k with no problems
I wouldnt get one until at least the first revision in 2013. The first generation is unquestionably rather ugly at the rear of the car. They got better and better from 2013 onwards.

The NA V6 in base model is not a VAG engine. It is a Porsche developed unit. The VAG developed one is in the Hybrid Panamera.
Good spot, the V6 is derived from the V8, the VR6 VAG engine goes in the Cayenne of the same age so it’s our mistake 👍

Do 3.6 panameras suffer from the cam bolt issue?
Yes. The timing chains and cam gears are identical to the V8.
