    THANKS A TON, my washer would not drain. Another youtuber (whirlpool demo guy) suggested replacing the motor not even showing to clear drain hose. I did exactly what you did and I had filler from a pillow top bed protector I washed last night was stuck in drain which I should have taken it to a commercial laundromat, It was stuck near the motor area thank god I stuck my finger inside to feel because all other areas of the drain hose was clear. Thank You Thank You Thanks for video. Soaked up cloths are draining now as I am typing. I wish you had a Patreon because you just saved me a ton of funds.

    You are a star! having drained the machine by hand and found £20 and 20p, it still wasn't working, the step by step instructions on removing and clearing the pump were invaluable, (back's a bit sore today though!). many thanks.

    Dude! THANK YOU SO MUCH! You just saved me 50€, that was the minimum charge for any simple repair that I've found so far today, since all the places/technicians I called were very busy and couldn't come to my place in less than 4 hours, I said to myself, well you can always try to repair it yourself and you always got UA-cam; the draining pump was stuck with a piece of fabric, I feel like superman! hahaha! Once again, thank you!
    Greetings from Barcelona, Spain.

    Thank you so much! I fixed my washer, and Sears first told me they were going to charge me a ton of money to come to my house to do a service call and repair... but it was only the filter plugged up. The washer is working like a charm now and the teenagers are now happy.

      Hi Omar, E10 refers to an issue with the water level so check the water pressure first, make sure they are no blockages in the water valve before suspecting the valve.

      +susie hamilton Glad you sorted the problem Susie. One word of warning, If you accidentally leave a pound coin (or Euro) in your pocket and it catches between the drum and tub on spin it can break a hole in the drum and flood your home. Always check your (and others) pockets before loading the machine. :-)

    Fantastic video - You guys have just saved me £350 - heard a strange noise in the machine then all of a sudden it wouldn't drain a thing. Followed the tips in the video and there was a small piece or metal from a pair of shorts chewed up inside the pump. Really can't thank you enough!

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  10 років тому

      Well done James, by catching this early it sounds like the pump is OK. This is the reason why fire brigades advise about not leaving appliances running overnight as something in your pocket like a paper clip or even a match can cause a pump to overheat and potentially catch fire.

    great, nice simple explanation. I bought a replacement drain pump for my Indesit W123 (now nearly 16+ years old but still working great - until the pump failed that is..!) Only then thought..DOH! Ahh, what's the easiest way to access it..? Simple, as in the video, put the machine on it's side and get access from underneath...!!! DOH 2 ! 2 screws, 1 plug in electrical connector and 3 easy hose clips.... JOB DONE...! YESSSSSS! Thanks guys..!

    Reply to Tommy Redzinski:
    Hi Tommy, glad to hear you resolved your problem with our help.
    To ensure your dishwasher doesn't block again and to improve its performance make sure anyone using the dishwasher rinses ALL food traces of the plates Before placing in the machine.
    Food in dishwashers may take a while to break down and clear the machine so will often leave 'crustie particles' on glasses and plates and will sometimes block the machine.
    Simply by rinsing under the tap you will see an instant increase it the quality of cleaning and avoid this problem.

    Clear and helpful video, thanks Josh. Problem turned out to be an 18 month old who likes to hide things in the wash basket, a few of them found their way into the filter, drainage pipe and the pump. I'm amazed the thing ever worked! Anyway, after a good clear out its running perfectly. No spares needed this time but if I ever need them in future, I know where to come. Thanks again, saved me a bundle ;)

      Hi Simon, if this was a new installation and the hose connects onto a spigot under the sink keep the counter. It will be needed if you remove the appliance or sink water can drain from the pipework and cause flooding.

    Great video. My machine wasn't draining, the first step you suggest; clearing out the filter. It worked. It was blocked by those colour catching sheets. Again, great video.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  10 років тому

      Hi Kenneth, Thanks for your comments. Two quick tips, 1 Use a safety pin to attach colour catchers to dark washing will ensure you do not loose another one into the pump. 2 Washing powder that is not sold as being for colours contains bleach (check your box) this is what fades colours and blacks turn grey. If you use a colour powder on these colours remain good and you are less likely to make colour to run and need a colour catcher.

    Thanks to your video, I was FINALLY able to find out how to replace the large drain hose clamp after taking it off because it had been making a large whining noise instead of entering the rinse cycle (turns out that a padlock key was stuck in the hose). I was going to test the washer, then try replacing the drain motor pump, and then give up and buy a new washer, but couldn't get to those steps since I couldn't get the clamp on tightly enough and I was about to give up and buy a new washer (it's had the telltale noise of a broken spider arm for a couple of years anyway). My washer is back in business now, though, so for Christmas I don't have to go to the laundromat after all. Thank you!

    Backstory: drain pump does not stop whenever the machine is on with the door closed. Checked and it’s not a flooding problem. Engineer came to take a look and said it probably needs a new chip on the module.

    Brilliant, thank you. I was foxed by a drain error code but there was nothing in the filter. Turns out a 50p coin will go through the drum side gap but not from the sump pipe to the filter housing so it can get stuck and block the hole. Pulled off the sump hose and there was the culprit. I could not have done this repair without this video, and as the machine is two months out of extended warranty I was facing a big repair or replacement bill. Not only that I won the 50p back.

      To add to this: when you take the sump off and find a 50p coin, don't stop there. Check the whole sump pipe while you have it disconnected. I had to do the whole job twice because there was a £2 coin stuck further up the pipe in the corrugations which I didn't spot earlier. The first thing you see may not be the only thing in there!

    Those little flip-out doors with the filter and small drain hose are nice. Sure wish mine had one of those.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 років тому

      You can often empty a machine by lowering the drain hose below the water level into a bowl. Failing that lean the machine backwards so the water is below the door and unplug the machine, when the door opens you can then use a sponge to bail out the water.

    Thanks for the video.....
    For general knowledge....
    On my Bosch Nexxt 300 series WFMC2201UC, the specifications from the repair manual are as follows.
    Measure resistance all parts disconnected.
    Heater 13.7 - 15.2 ohms
    NTC 22.8 - 27.4 kilo ohms @68 degrees F.
    Water inlet valves 2.7 - 4.5 kilo ohms.
    Drain pump 140 - 200 ohms.
    Also, E13 can be a pain to fix.....Usually is the pump, but also too much detergent being used can throw that code too.
    One often overlooked repair is to remove both drain hoses and thoroughly clean them out. They may be restricting drainage flow from pump. (One hose comes from pump to back of washer from inside machine. The other is the drain hose from the back of machine on the outside.) These hose can get clogged with all sort of crap and build up.
    OK....still with me?
    Steps for a happy Bosch washer.
    Clean drain hoses or replace.
    Descale heater element.
    Clean water inlet valves. Try a little spray of auto brake cleaner spray into front and back of valves......Obviously wipe excess and run some empty wash cycles. Mine cleared out some stuff. Check to make sure screens are clear too.
    Check water supply hoses for good water pressure. (disconnect and see how water flows into bucket. Should be a pretty strong flow.
    Clean pump trap....or replace pump if needed.
    I hope this helps some people with their repairs.

    Great guide, going to go and check to see if this helps my washing machine.. its very difficult to sense the problem as when the water drum is empty and I take the filter off and pour some water into the outpipe the water goes into the drum and direct out onto my floor.. but it simply won't drain no matter what while attempting to drain..

    I've replaced the washer purge motor twice. btw the purge motor is faulty because if you leave the purge tube at full length and down into the wall drain it will cause it to back flow towards the lowest point which is the base of the washer thus leaving the pump face submerged in water. This leads to the pump leaking into to magnets inside the pump. It corrodes and the magnets crack and the polarity is compromised. The manual says to have the tube cut or at the right length just below the opening of the wall drain opening. They don't say it will f up your poorly made motor seal. Why would they?

    • @eSpares

      Hi Elisabeth, often bra wires can get broken up and will end up in the pump filter stopping the machine from draining. Empty the water and check the filter and watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/frEJhX9Sppw/v-deo.html

    HOWEVER, conditioner left from load that stopped mid cycle spilled out onto mother board and fried it. Smoke and E63 killed my machine. Arghhh! So WARNING: take out detergent drawer BEFORE putting machine on side. New machine for me. DIY repairs cost hundreds of pounds!!!! Be careful!!!

    Great video, My question is about my LG front load washer. Sometimes it drains and sometimes it does not completely. I changed out the pump and checked the hose and found no issues. My next step is to pull the drain hose out of the drain and see if that is the issue. The machine is 6 yrs old with lots of use. could this be a circuit board issue?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  9 років тому

      Hi Rich, as this video says there can be many reasons but it is rarely an intermittent board problem. You can save a lot of time and money by watching over your machine to monitor its draining. Simply put on a rinse cycle and time how long it takes to empty when the pump starts. This will normally be 30 to 45 seconds but if significantly longer you have a blockage or partial restriction.

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  9 років тому

      Hi Richard, If your machine is draining the problem is likely to be not spinning. This could be due to out of balance (see ua-cam.com/video/uKBy-9NEF5A/v-deo.html ) or worn brushes which will cause the motor to splutter when turning (see ua-cam.com/video/MNInJd7js5A/v-deo.html ).

    Thank you for the video, however after performing all these steps I am still getting the OE error on my washer and water will not drain (even replaced the pump) Still hear the loud noise when it attempts to drain. Could it possibly be the circulation pump or am I looking at the module or the PCB?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  10 років тому

      Hi Jewelee, The fact you say you can hear the "loud noise" suggests this is the pump running and trying to empty the machine.
      Have you offered the drain hose to a bucket to see if it will pump out?.
      It may be a blockage of your plumbing if it connects directly to the pipework under the sink. It should also drain reasonably quickly if the hose is lowered to the floor into a bowl.

    My machine has same problem. Today is first use of it. I followed same procedure mentioned in video and some little amount of water came out of it. But how much amount of water normally drains out in fully automatic front load machine?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 років тому

      All of it lol. Sorry it is important to try and drain the machine before opening the filter as this is at the bottom of the machine and you could end up with two gallons (9 litres) over your floor.
      If you accidentally left a matchstick. hair grip or coin in a pocket in the washing it could jam the pump on the very first use of the machine. if this happens it is not the machines fault so remember to check the washing before loading the machine.

  • @michaelchampagne5628
    @michaelchampagne5628 5 років тому

    So my washer it usually gets stuck on rinse. When I have no clothes it runs through cycle fine but when there are clothes in it it gets stuck on rinse and water gets backed up. Nothing in the filter. It's a front end loader. Could this mean the pump is going? I had to change the boot seal already and wondering if this is an electrical issue or a pump issue. Hate spending more money if I need a new washer. Or hate getting rid of it if is just the pump that needs to be replaced. Any ideas? And the water will smell bad that comes out too.

  • @sibichanouseph7179
    @sibichanouseph7179 9 років тому

    very informative . could you explain why some times water with slightly drainage smell been found inside the machine all of a sudden?Thanks

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  9 років тому

      +Sibichan Ouseph Your problem may be due to water returning into the machine through the drain hose. If the hose connects directly onto pipe work under a sink make sure the pipe goes up to just under the work surface or water can run down the hose into the machine.
