A resistance test is a necessary condition but not sufficient condition. even a test run without water is same, because these two conditions are all about the motor. in my humble opinion, a good motor is still a necessary condition for a good pump, however, it is not sufficient condition for a pump. the pump impeller check is very crucial for an operational pump. Great video.Thought it would be cool if you did a video on your cheater cord build There are several of them out there , but it looks like you gave a lot of thought to your build and it would be interesting to hear that input. Just a thought.
Good question. in the field of troubleshooting, feel test is first shortcut test before you even have a field test run with a test run cord. Hope this clarify.
You can actually test the pump removed from filter housing using the Drain setting instead of fabricating a test cable. Although, a bad pump may still turn with no load (no water resistance). I just replaced a drain pump that would have passed all these tests. I removed the impeller assembly (held in position by magnetic force), and the spindle that holds the impeller rod was cracked. So it acted normal and would turn with no load condition but not with resistance on the impeller.
@ yes but it was mostly in one direction. I was getting a F21 code that started and gradually ended up with a drain failure. I replaced the pump/ filter assembly and now it works fine.
Great Video Thank You. I will run these test as well. The washer only drains some of the time. Sometimes I hear a humming noise when it does not drain. Could the pump be on its way out and only work sometimes? I fear that it might be something worse like control board. The pump may have a good test if it works some of the time? Thanks
Hi thank you so much for such a detailed explanation. If I have a Bloomberg washer, I did the two things u mentioned on the drain pump. 1. Turning the propeller, showing resistance. 2. Test with multimeter, showing 86 ohms. On Bloomberg manual is specifies than winding resistance of drain pump is 88.5 ohms. Is my drain pump broken or no? Thank you.
This is a great video. I tested my resistance and it shows 7.2… the spin test seems to work well, but it is not spraying. When I run the dishwasher, I can hear it lightly clicking when it is supposed to be running.
Mine had a quarter stuck on the drain hose. Since I had the washer on its side, I took advantage and cleaned all of the hoses, rubber seal, etc. Confident it was gonna work, I installed it did a test run and still didn't drain. 😂 I know 120 volt was going to the motor. When the drain feature was activated I can hear a humming noise coming from the drain pump. I took off the drain pump, tested it outside by plugging it in, Turn on the washer and selected "spin only cycle" --- Propeller was stuck. Since it was damage I took it out from the housing and verified that it was crack. The replacement cost me less than a 24pk of beers 🍻
Why does my washer machine delay to start spinning and washing when I click the start and it will take long to start, and also leaking some water underneath yet all horses fit properly
@@guelphming3843 for leaks, it keeps dropping underneath the washer machine but all the horses are fitting, so how do I know that the timer is faulty. Glad to hear from you again
Hi there, i checked my pump and there is 220 omh resistance, its ok plus impeller is allright but it still doesnt pump out the water. Machine stops working after it fills with water and do not spin neither pump out the water. Do you know what else may cause it?

hello, the bump works with AC voltage?
Yes, Most with 120V ac. Better verify label on the pump.
probably the best demonstration on this topic.. definitely the best I've seen.
Thanks for your nice comment
In my case sometimes motor is working sometimes it's working not taking the load
Thanks for sharing.
I learned a new thing from this video.thanks for sharing
Very Good Demostration.
Thanks

Thanks for your feedback. I will think about it and let you know after I do video. Appreciate if support me by sub my channel.. Thanks.
Hi. Thank you for the video. You did not mention if there is a shortcut. How to test it? Thank you.

@@guelphming3843 thank you.

Very helpful, thank you.
Glad to hear, thanks for watching.

Great! Do you feel resistance when you turn the impeller with finger?

Glad and congrats.

If you hear a humming sound check drain pump first before anything else. Might have something clogged in pump. Good luck.

Apply power to the drain pump without load to see if it run properly. Thanks for watching, Good luck.

Nice job! Humming sound is the sign either pump stuck or seized. Thanks for sharing.

As far as I can know, check timer if your washer has one, for leaking if hose and fittings are good, it might be seal. Good luck.

Give pump a feel test if pass give a run test with power applied like in the video. Good luck!
