Technically this is about actors who could always sing and we didn’t know Andrew couldn’t sing he learned how for that role Nvm they used Reese as an example So that makes the exclusion of Andrew shocking for sure
With Andrew though, when he was in drama school, he tried to sing but a teacher of his gave him an impossible song to do, then when he got it wrong, told him never sing again. He didn’t til Lin found him.
Tbf they gave top spot to CZJ and left Renee Zelweiger AND Richard Gere off the list too. Most ppl didn't know any of those 3 could sing before Chicago
I would add to this list: Taron Egerton, Luke Evans, Chris Pine, and the Master of them all: Ewan McGregor. No movie moment will ever make me fall in love as fast as I did when he started that first line of "Your Song" in Moulin Rouge.
i agree! :), and already was blown away by Ewan McGregors Voice when her sang the first line in the movie .. "The Hills are alive with the sound of music..." :D ...goes directly to the heart!
Amanda Seyfried as Sophie Sheridan in "Mamma Mia!" She blew me away, because she not only nailed the ABBA songs but she managed to get the aspect of the Sophie character down pat.
@@Taniajofre He was great, and I was sure he was at least nominated (I was wrong about the Oscar, but he was nominated just about everywhere else), but nobody was going to beat Joaquin's Joker that year.
I would have thought Kristen Bell would be in this list. Her role as Anna in Frozen was great. Specifically, singing like a child and then a grown Anna in the song Do You Want To Build Snowman was impressive.
Luke Evans is one of the most amazing singers. and Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor stunned in moulin rouge . Hugh Jackman also sang in the greatest showman.
You beat me to it. 'Was gonna mention Kidman and McGregor in Moulin Rouge. Jared Leto is another actor who I don't know if he's sung in any film, but has an impressive voice singing lead for his 30 Seconds to Mars rock group.
Catherine Zeta-Jones *and* Renee Zellweger were absolutely incredible in "Chicago". Their chemistry, voice prowess, and dancing skills were out of this world! And, while I'm at it, Queen Latifah's "When You're Good To Mama" song in that film was *epic*.
Here's one, Hugh Laurie. Comedian, dramatic actor and jazz musician (or is it blues) that even has a few albums. Honorable mention to Jake and Elwood Blues.
The Rock in Moana - I know "You're Welcome" isn't exactly a pure vocal masterpiece, but I was quite shocked at how well Dwayne Johnson could carry a tune in that movie.
Lin researched all the times The Rock had sung for little wrestling bits to find his vocal range and wrote Dwayne’s music to suit his range, so it sounds extra good!
Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix had the doubly hard tasks of not only singing but capturing the style and essence of a famous singer. And they both did it beautifully.
No Zooey Deschanel? Her singing voice in Elf when she sang “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” is very beautiful to listen to. Heck, it’s so beautiful it even made Will Ferrell sing along.
The biggest surprise I ever had listening to an actor sing was when Jim Nabors sang The Impossible Dream as Gomer Pyle. It was absolutely incredible and mystifying that it came out of Gomer Pyle. It doesn't hurt that the Man of La Mancha is my favorite musical and the song is just awesome. And I realize that Jim Nabors was a classically trained singer, at the very least, but still, it was an amazing performance.
What about Sissy Spacek in Coal Miner's Daughter? You are aware she did all her vocals AND won the Oscar for Best Actress that year! I remember being shocked that she sang at all! How did she not make this list?
Renee Zellweger in Chicago definitely holds her own. She is very under appreciated. She can do Southern accents, British accents, sing, dance, and act. She can do drama and comedy as well as any British Shakespeare trained actor. My eyes are glued to her when she’s in a scene. Throw her into Downton Abbey with Shirley McClain or Grandmama, she’s going to hold her own!

As long as we are talking about Chicago, to me the big shocker was John C. Reilly doing Mr. Celophane. That was an incredible rendition. Then there was the shocker of hearing Lyndsey Lohan in A Prairie Home Companion surrounded by all that singing talent holding her own. That was an interesting version of Frankie and Johnnie. And Virginia Madsen infuriates me because you have to ask if there is anything that that woman can not do. The list of people is endless that were surprising as singers. Jennifer Lawrence doing Hanging Tree in the third Hunger Games is another example. Such a sultry, earthy performance that was. And she said that frightened her more than anything else she did for the entire movie series. And what about Hugh Grant in Music And Lyrics? That was really Drew and Hugh and Haley doing their own singing in the film.
Haley's songs in Music and Lyrics are great! The Hugh Grant is also great but it's obviously a bit novelty/comedy/pastiche whereas Haley's songs could seriously stand on their own as real pop.
@bluestraggler3815 Haley is an actual pop singer turned actress. Hugh Grant is an exceptional actor trained specifically to sing and play those songs. You were utterly dead on in your assessment of the relative qualities of the sounds and feels their music produces. That is why there are the differences you noted.
Michelle Pfeiffer is amazing. My favorite performance of hers is Tzipporah in "The Prince of Egypt" She definitely fit that role and she blends very well with Sally Dworsky.
She kills it as Velma von Tussel in "Hairspray," too. She doesn't do many musical roles, but when she does, she's amazing. Oh, and a little-known one: she sings the song over the end credits of "Murder on the Orient Express," a lullaby for her character's lost child.
@@katherineheasley6196 Yes "Never Forget" I had to listen to the song again when I discovered that was really her voice plus the director of the film Kenneth Branaugh co-wrote the song too
Riley Keough in “Daisy Jones & the Six” actually surprised us with her singing, I mean she is Elvis Presley’s granddaughter but I’ve never seen her do singing and only acting but I’m happy she got to show her singing talents for the first time for the show and she has an amazing voice!
Most of those were a given for me. The one that is missing from the list that surprised me the most, was Alan Rickman, whom only had 2 roles where he sang and they came out in the same year. Sweeney Todd and Truly, Madly, Deeply (1990)
Brittany Murphy had an incredible singing voice. Her version of Somebody to Love in Happy Feet was overlooked by many since it was a vocal only performance for an animated film. Likely, many did not realize it was Brittany herself performing the song.
Brittany Murphy (RIP)... I was surprised when she sang a couple lines of Soldier Boy in Riding in Cars with Boys but when she sang Nobody Does it Better in Little Black Book she blew me away. Also, Sissy Spacek in The Coalminer's Daughter.
Bravo for the shout-out to Jeremy Renner, but what about Scarlett Johannsen? Dunno about anyone else, but I never knew she could belt it out until her voiceover role as Ash in Sing.
Only knowing Emmy Rossum from Shameless as Fiona and then hearing her sing in Phantom of the Opera was mind blowing!!!!! Andrew Garfield in tick, tick… BOOM! Very emotional! Lots of great ones! I can even go back to Beverly D’Angelo, even if you've only ever seen her sing in National Lampoon! lol
Reese Witherspoon singing "Juke Box Blues" in Walk The Line was just too perfect to the point I can't even remember how many times I've played that song with her singing in the soundtrack. Her dancin was pretty good too for the vibe of the song. So happy that she won an Oscar for her performance, June Carter would've been proud of her
In addition to your video, a few others come to mind when hearing an actor sing in a movie for the first time- Diane Keaton, Golde Hawn, Parker Posey, Catherine O’Hara, Jessie Buckley, Renee Zellweger, Brittany Murphy,Paul Giamatti,Kevin Spacey, Evan Rachel Wood, Anna Kendrick, Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGreggor, Meryl Streep… probably many more. I love a good movie musical moment.
Anybody else impressed by Gwyneth Paltrow in "Duets"? Also, not sure if you could call her an actress, but Paris Hilton's got an impressive set of pipes.
John C. Reilly. He's the first person I think about when thinking of the title. He did so well in Step Brothers that everyone saw him as one of the eras greatest movie comedians like Will Ferrell and Seth Rogan but anyone who's seen Chicago can tell you he's an amazing singer
He was also great alongside Woody Harrelson in A Prairie Home Companion as Lefty to Woody's Dusty. That was entertainment. They were certainly a pair to draw to.
I wonder if we could get to a top 10 of welsh actors who can surprisingly (or maybe unsurprisingly) sing. Catharine Zeta-Jones joined by the likes of Taron Egerton, Luke Evans and possibly Tom Ellis
I had no idea that Antonio Banderas could sing, let along of that calibre!!! Or Anne Hathaway, Catherine Zeta Jones, Renee Zellweger or Jeremy Renner.... so many talented actors/actresses!
I can’t believe they didn’t mention “The greatest Showman” when speaking about Hugh Jackman. With that being said…Zac Efron has an amazing voice! Beverly D’Angelo should be mentioned, as well!
Because I think these are the First times we learn they can sing lol Hugh Jackman like they said has a large musical theater career, if they mentioned All of them itd take a moment. They did his most notable lol As for Zac Efron, his first showing of his voice is HSM2 once they gave him some more singing lessons 😂
If you guys are wondering about Melissa McCarthy for when she does the Little Mermaid Yes she actually can sing, look up her doing a duet with Barbra Streisand
Everyone said she was a bad choice to play Donna Sheridan, but that is not the case. Meryl has been trained to professionally sing since the age of thirteen.
Eun Bin Park, who won our hearts as Extraordinary Attorney Woo, currently is leaving us breathless in Castaway Diva. Stunning voice, stunning performance! 🥰
Moulin Rouge was one I thought would make the list. Both Kidman and MacGregor were a surprise to me that they could sing well. Can't say I loved every song in it, but their voices were really good on some of them.
Nice list. I feel they are extra special when they are not as comfortable singing. It takes quite a bit of gusto to push past that. Happy Emily Blunt did so. She really made Into the Woods all the better and Marry Poppins.
I completely agree! When I started the video I was thinking "Johnny Depp better be on this list" and I am so sad he didn't even get an honorable mention (and that they didn't do honorable mentions at all). He is the reason My Friends and A Little Priest (alongside Helena Bonham Carter) are my 2 favorite Sondheim songs along with Agony from Into the Woods. I went to see Sweeney in the movie theater and was stunned by how great his voice is.
Johnny would be quite embarrassed to be on the list as he doesn't see himself as a singer of any value. He only sometimes sings back up when he plays on stage with his rock star friends. He much prefers to stay out of the "lead singer" category.
Patrick Wilson was a Broadway star before Phantom. Emmy Rossum was a trained professional opera singer. Butler was OK, but I guess I would say that about anyone who isn't Michael Crawford (btw he was one of the leads in the Hello Dolly film).
Triple Threat: For me, _Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog_ was a revelation. It introduced me to the singing talents of Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, *and* Felicia Day!
Jack Black singing at the end of High Fidelity was a big surprise at the time. Although he sang before, his singing voice got properly noticed by a wider audience in this film.
I'm very surprised Christian Bale and Eddie Redmayne weren't on this list. Most people really just see them as actors but when Les Miserable (2012) and Newsies came out, I was shocked how good they were!
girl this list needs to be longer. I remember when Chicago came out, it wasn't just Catherine, no one expected those vocals from the entire cast! Also Ewan and Nicole in Moulin Rouge.
Daniel Portman as Sir Podrick Payne from Game of Thrones. In the second episode of Season 8, he really took everyone, even the crew members, by surprise when he let his voice loose by singing the song “Jenny of Oldstones.” Everyone on set fell completely dead silent and frozen and were completely captivated by his amazing performance. He nailed it so perfectly they only had to film that scene once! That scene never fails to amaze me! Portman could really have an amazing singing career as well!
tom ellis in his role as lucifer.... that guy has a voice. he surprised his showrunners with his voice so much that they rewrote his role so he would do more singing
Where Is Bradley Cooper in A Star Was Born, look no further then Shallow and Maybe It’s Time, we need him in more musicals. And Will Ferril in Holmes and Watson, and Sprited, he can really hold a tune
I can't believe Beverly D'Angelo isn't on this list for her portrayal of Patsy Cline in "Coal Miner's Daughter." She totally slays Patsy's vocals in that role.
Chicago's cast was an absolute knockout. All star cast of A-list actors who were also ALL incredible singers & dancers (not only Zeta-Jones!). I will add as an honorable mention: Bree Larson singing Black Sheep in Scott Pilgrim vs the World. I actually prefer her in movie version of the song to the real thing!
I was pleasantly taken aback when I heard Kristen Bell belt out Blondie's "One Way or Another" on the original run of Veronica Mars. Wish they would have let her sing more than that one time.
Mel Gibson sang in the Disney movie Pocahontas. He was really good. I was impressed. Also, don’t forget Ansel Elgort. He shocked us all on The Late Late Show.
I knew Hugh Laurie from 'Fry & Laurie' , as George from the Blackadder series and later as Dr. House. But I was really surprised to know he is a jazz/blues crooner and as a student was part of a winning Oxford crew in the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race , and trained to reach the Olympics too ! 'my jolly ...hurraah for Laurie !'
Anthony Head shocked me with how well he could sing. Loved when he sang in Buffy but he belted out in his roll singing in a movie I'm blanking on the name right now but someone else may know which one I'm trying to remember. Lol
Gwyneth Paltrow deserves a spot on this list. Holding her own in "Duets" and "Country Strong" singing along side leading men in both movies who have won multiple music awards as well as had multiple records that have gone platinum.
Yes, but also: Jeremy Northam - Gosford Park Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd - De-Lovely Meryl Streep - Mama Mia, Into the Woods, A Prairie Home Companion Bradley Cooper - A Star is Born and I'm sure we're missing several actors from earlier film eras!
Todd is my favorite show and while their acting was top-notch, they were just too quiet in the singing. I enjoyed the movie but a lot of that was being happy it didn't suck.
I don't know where you are, but if you can get to NYC, fly or take a train or run to Broadway and see it now. This revival is spectacular and I would kill to see it. 😀 If not there is 1981 filming of the show in LA with Angela Lansbury and George Hearn and it's pretty great. Burton cut out the chorus. Have you heard that? It is vital to the show. Sondheim wrote a lot of the score to be belted, like opera. Seriously, get to the show or get the recording. Your life will be complete.
I would add Kevin Bacon to that list. He and his brother Michael have been performing for years as the Bacon Brothers. They have several albums out and are amazing when they play live. Kevin not only sings, but is great on guitar and percussion, and writes a big percentage of their music.
what.... i had to google and damn that man can sing. I always figured he could since hes from a dancing background, but i never thought he had a voice like that
Watching Rent (2005 movie) contained 3 big surprises of actors I had no idea could not only sing, but can SING! Jesse L Martin ( Detective Ed Green in Law and Order), Tracie Thoms ( Detective Kat Miller in Cold Case), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple, various Marvel universe TV series).WOW!!!
While not a household name, actress Jasika Nicole had a supporting role in all 5 seasons of the tv show Fringe. She got to show off her gorgeous voice in the season 2 episode 'Brown Betty.' She was acknowledged as the 'most accomplished musical person in the cast.' Fantastic voice. I only became aware of her musical theater studies and background after that show wrapped.
I adore Jasika. "Making Angels" from the 4th season of Fringe constantly duels with "Sandoval's Run" from the first season of Earth: Final Conflict for my favorite hour of any television show, ever. And I love that she based her performance for the Red Universe's Astrid on her sister.
I think it’s funny how people forget that vocal regulation/coaching, as well as singing lessons are often part of acting classes 😂 Also, a lot of actors find their way to acting trough musical theatre
Ya'll _never_ beat Audrey Hepburn in 'My Fair Lady'. Superb singing. lol (Wonder how many of the _above_ actresses were also dubbed by Marni Nixon ...or her modern equivalent?)
They don't really dub actors very often anymore. But they do use autotune. (And I seem to recall reading that Zac Efron was mostly dubbed for the first High School Musical but then sang himself in the sequels because they realised he could do it.)
Jeri Ryan in that episode of Voyager where they are somehow (I don't remember) in Nazi Germany and she's part of an underground rebellion. She was amazing!
I was blown away by Anne Hathaway in Ella Enchanted (and later in Les Mis as well). I also loved Joaqin Phoenix as Johnny Cash. It was the first time I heard him sing
Listening to him with Sarah Brightman was mesmerizing. Pity they didn't have him in the movie but then if he had been it is unlikely that her choosing Raoul would have worked out so well.

Amanda Seyfried as Sophie Sheridan in "Mamma Mia!"

So happy that she won an Oscar for her performance, June Carter would've been proud of her
She killed that role!!
She also has a role as a VA in the illumination movie Sing and it’s sequel. Her songs in that are amazing
She was so amazing
I'm really surprised you have Hugh Jackman on here and don't mention his work in The Greatest Showman! That was amazing work there!
Exactly my thoughts
@@barbarameyer649 Thank you! Hey, did you hear Donny Osmond's version of it on the Masked Singer? Really impressive too!
He blew me away. I knew he'd done Oklahoma, but...wow.
He is a Broadway actor... not just a film actor in a musical movie.
I'm surprised he is in this list. He was a west end and Broadway star way before becoming a movie star.
In addition to your video, a few others come to mind when hearing an actor sing in a movie for the first time-
Diane Keaton, Golde Hawn, Parker Posey, Catherine O’Hara, Jessie Buckley, Renee Zellweger, Brittany Murphy,Paul Giamatti,Kevin Spacey, Evan Rachel Wood, Anna Kendrick, Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGreggor, Meryl Streep… probably many more. I love a good movie musical moment.
As for Anna Kendrick, I believe she actually started her career in the theater industry (not exactly sure if she started on Broadway) but yeah...
Surprised Jim neighbours isn’t on the list
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Tom Huddleston (A.K.A. Loki)
Emmy Rossum in Phantom of the Opera was absolutely sublime.
She did OK. Then again, I was spoiled having seen Sarah Brightman do it. But at lease Ms. Rossum didn't butcher the part like Madonna did with Evita.
@@AnimalisMD Emmy is actually had opera training when she was younger.
@@loracoats2727 Yes, I remember reading about that when the movie came out
Since you mentioned that film, didn’t know Minnie Driver could see like that
@@rolandomontenegro4130 Neither did I. She did a very good job!
I can’t believe they didn’t mention “The greatest Showman” when speaking about Hugh Jackman. With that being said…Zac Efron has an amazing voice!
Beverly D’Angelo should be mentioned, as well!
Hugh Jackman has always been an excellent singer! Anyone seen Oklahoma?
You can't mention "The Greatest Showman" singers without mentioning Zendaya too!
They might not have had rights to showing clips of the greatest showman. Zac started off young in high school musical so we knew he could sing. :)
Hugh Jackman started in musical theater in Australia, he received a Tony for "The Boy From Oz."
Sissy Spacek’s considerable singing talent took a lot of us by surprise when CMD came out in 1980-
Oh yes, that was amazing. I wonder if she got tutoring from Loretta Lynn?
If you guys are wondering about Melissa McCarthy for when she does the Little Mermaid
Yes she actually can sing, look up her doing a duet with Barbra Streisand
I didn't know this existed!!! Thank you for introducing it to me 😂. I love Melissa McCarthy.
I've always loved her from the beginning she's the best and her role as Ursula she absolutely nailed it
I'm gonna assume Val Kilmer is all over this list. The Doors, Prince of Egypt? But it's really no surprise I guess, he's just pure talent.
you need to see Top Secret his character does both Elvis style and beach boys style songs in that film.
I can't believe that Meryl Streep isn't on this list. When she sang in "Postcards from the Edge" I was very surprised at her voice.
Everyone said she was a bad choice to play Donna Sheridan, but that is not the case. Meryl has been trained to professionally sing since the age of thirteen.
Her singing the ABBA tunes in “Mamma Mia”🎶✨ was gold. Pierce Brosnan, too!!
@@Father_of_Death I think it’s because she is quite a bit older than Donna Sheridan
Yes! This was so shocking and in the best way. Her performance of “You Don’t Know Me” is a favorite of mine
@@Sgoinneil well.
She is who Phyllida Lloyd, Judy Craymer and Catherine Johnson wanted to play Donna. So...
Joaquin Pheonix in the Johnny Cash story was phenomenal and deserves much more than a passing mention with Reese Witherspoon
Kate Winslet singing "What If" was one of my favorite songs when I was younger, and also Chris Pine
Or in Sense and Sensibility when she sings "Weep You No More Sad Fountains"
How is Johnny Depp not on here? His singing was a surprise and incredible in Sweeney and he did excellent as the wolf in into the woods
Good catch, but you forgot to also mention his singing as Cry Baby Walker in Cry Baby! Classic.
In 'Chicago', I was blown away by John C Reilly's voice- it was a small and powerful moment in the film: "Mr. Cellophane"
Honorable Mention: Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum in Phantom of the Opera
And Patrick Wilson
Patrick Wilson was a Broadway star before Phantom. Emmy Rossum was a trained professional opera singer. Butler was OK, but I guess I would say that about anyone who isn't Michael Crawford (btw he was one of the leads in the Hello Dolly film).
Emmy yes, not Butler.
Triple Threat: For me, _Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog_ was a revelation. It introduced me to the singing talents of Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, *and* Felicia Day!
Yeah, NPH was the only person of the three that I knew sand before seeing that. Such a fun series. Nathan is also lovely in person haha.
I really liked Amy Adams singing in Enchanted. Glad she didn’t lose her touch in the sequel
Jack Black singing at the end of High Fidelity was a big surprise at the time. Although he sang before, his singing voice got properly noticed by a wider audience in this film.
Jack black in Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny and School of Rock
And in The Holiday with Kate Winslet. He sang to her a lot.
I'm very surprised Christian Bale and Eddie Redmayne weren't on this list. Most people really just see them as actors but when Les Miserable (2012) and Newsies came out, I was shocked how good they were!
Well to be fair, Bale first role already showed he can sing in Empire of the Sun. So it was no surprise when he belts out a tune when newsies came.
@@tats_sacs I thought that about Christian Bale too but Cai Thomas sang the song (Suo Gân) in Empire of the Sun
I saw somewhere that when Bale took the Newsies role it wasn’t a musical and he was horrified when he found out he would have to sing
girl this list needs to be longer. I remember when Chicago came out, it wasn't just Catherine, no one expected those vocals from the entire cast! Also Ewan and Nicole in Moulin Rouge.
Catherine Zeta Jones’s voice is so good!!! She’s perfection in Chicago!!
Same with Reneé Zellweger.
I knew Emily Blunt would be on the list. That's why I clicked on the video.
tom ellis in his role as lucifer.... that guy has a voice. he surprised his showrunners with his voice so much that they rewrote his role so he would do more singing
And how about Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn? I thought she totally channeled Loretta's voice and style.
I'm surprised Gwyneth Paltrow wasn't mentioned . She has a gorgeous singing voice.
Sissy Spacek did win an academy award for Coal Miner's Daughter, singing all of Loretta Lynn's songs.
I think Ryan Reynolds and or Will Ferrell deserve to have at least an honorable mention cause they both sounded awesome in Spirited and the tik tok
Jeremy Renners should star in a musical film!🎶🎥
Lol
Maybe Repo the Genetic Opera?
His work as FranknFurter will blow your mind.
@@elizajimenez1063 yes that movie!
Gwyneth Paltrow deserves a spot on this list. Holding her own in "Duets" and "Country Strong" singing along side leading men in both movies who have won multiple music awards as well as had multiple records that have gone platinum.
Gwyneth Paltrow in Duets as well as Country Strong -
And she was great in Glee
Hannah Waddingham in Ted Lasso. She has an amazing voice.
Yes, but also:
Jeremy Northam - Gosford Park
Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd - De-Lovely
Meryl Streep - Mama Mia, Into the Woods, A Prairie Home Companion
Bradley Cooper - A Star is Born
and I'm sure we're missing several actors from earlier film eras!
Kevin Kline did a marvelous job as the Prirate King in the Prirates of Pinzance (Linda Ronsdatnt - sp).
I was surprised and impressed with the singing of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in Sweeny Todd.
Me too. I thought they were both absolutely magnificent in that movie.
Todd is my favorite show and while their acting was top-notch, they were just too quiet in the singing. I enjoyed the movie but a lot of that was being happy it didn't suck.
@@scott-robertshenkman4130 I've never seen a stage performance of Sweeney Todd, so when I saw the movie it was all new to me
I don't know where you are, but if you can get to NYC, fly or take a train or run to Broadway and see it now.
@@scott-robertshenkman4130 Angela Lansbury played that role on Broadway too.
I always figured he could since hes from a dancing background, but i never thought he had a voice like that
I think Kevin Spacey singing as Bobby Darrin in "Beyond the Sea" was a classic moment when an actor showed he had an amazing voice.
Yes, but he was incredibly too old for the part. I think he was almost ten years older when he played Bobby Darin, who died at 37.
Lets not forget Doogie Howser's Neil Patrick Harris!!! He has some serious pipes!
Hugh Jackman has the most diverse range from life drama to ‘Broadway’ chorus + circus fun 🎪 They don’t ask you to host the awards if you’re 2nd best !
Raul Esparza from Law & Order: SVU has an amazing voice.
Really? As if I needed more reason to love him.
I loved Fringe - Jasika was fantastic! Sometimes I wish she had more to do as Astrid.
That is one show I wish they would bring back and give her a bigger role.@@bast713
I think it’s funny how people forget that vocal regulation/coaching, as well as singing lessons are often part of acting classes 😂
Also, a lot of actors find their way to acting trough musical theatre
Ya'll _never_ beat Audrey Hepburn in 'My Fair Lady'.
Superb singing.
lol
(Wonder how many of the _above_ actresses were also dubbed by Marni Nixon ...or her modern equivalent?)
That wasn’t her! It was dubbed.
Audrey did sing in Breakfast at Tiffany's and did very well. But guess she couldn't quite pull off my fair lady.
They don't really dub actors very often anymore. But they do use autotune. (And I seem to recall reading that Zac Efron was mostly dubbed for the first High School Musical but then sang himself in the sequels because they realised he could do it.)
Audrey actually sang some bits but they still decided to dub over her voice
Jeri Ryan in that episode of Voyager where they are somehow (I don't remember) in Nazi Germany and she's part of an underground rebellion. She was amazing!
Ewan McGregor impressed me in Moulin Rouge, but Keira Knightley in Begin Again shocked me, I actually have her songs in my playlist
Had to scroll way too far down to find some love for Keira's singing!
A few years ago I was blown away with Surprise to hear Antonio Banderas sing a song from “Phantom of the Opera”.
Hugh Jackman he shocked me with how amazing his voice is 😊
I was blown away by Anne Hathaway in Ella Enchanted (and later in Les Mis as well). I also loved Joaqin Phoenix as Johnny Cash. It was the first time I heard him sing
Antonio Banderas was also the phantom in phantom of the opera
Listening to him with Sarah Brightman was mesmerizing. Pity they didn't have him in the movie but then if he had been it is unlikely that her choosing Raoul would have worked out so well.
