I went Tampa to central Kentucky and had to stay overnight an extra day because there were no furlung stations at night out in the back hills. Wind to the chest was an issue but not a show stopper.
Thanks for the review! Great bike absolutely. Can you please tell us about the camera and especially microphone setup you’re using? Sound is pretty good.
The camera is a Gopro Hero 8 Black. For the audio, I'm using a separate audio recorder (a Tascam DR05) with a Sony ECM-CS3 Lapel microphone. Both these pieces of equipment are kind of old and neither were really meant for what I'm using them for; they're aimed at the business note-taking market. The mic has a deadcat around it to help with the wind and it's inside the helmet. This has the negative effect of also cutting out nearly all the engine noise, but it does make my voice clear. In the future I plan on experimenting with running a second mic under the seat to capture engine noise without wind and then mix the two audio channels together but that's even more crap to have to set up and ride around with so I'm being lazy about it.
What did you wire your USB port to? Directly to the battery or somewhere else? I rented the same bike. It also had an aftermarket USB charging port. I don't think it was wired diectly to the batt, because I would lose power to my phone and ETC whenever I used the RH turn signal, LOL! My guess is the accessory power on this bike has a problem. I have a problem attributing it to the battery size and charging system. I shudder to to think it's that weak.
So, this video's from a while back now but over the winter I replaced the USB port that failed with a new one and discovered the failure was purely in the port (a component of the thing's transformer de-soldered from the board, probably because of vibration from being mounted on a bike). I added a new port and in both cases, I wired the ports to the accessory plug the bike has. The acc. port can be found on the right side "pod" - I open up the pod and explain this in a newer video I did if you want to see it ua-cam.com/video/ugsjm6XFaxg/v-deo.html. I had to buy a connector (found it on Ebay France, it wasn't super easy to find) that I could use to connect to the acc. port. I also changed the accessory fuse from a 2a to a 3a because the USB chargers tend to run just a bit higher than 2. Hope this helps!
Despite having done almost 6000km in the year I’ve owned mine, I’m still scared of going on gravel roads willingly on it lol. I’m convinced as soon as I lean in a corner it’ll just slide out from under me. How much slower so you take corners on gravel?
I find it really depends on the type of gravel; the worst stuff to me is a lot of the big rocks that are deeply packed. Much easier is a hard surface with a bit of loose small stones on top of it. Especially on the tougher ones, I definitely take wider lines and try to minimize my leaning; additionally try to 'float' the front by keeping some throttle on and keeping the weight on the back so it doesn't feel as wobbly. Try to keep your grip on the bars light (to prevent too much unwanted input from the bumps) and squeeze on the tank with your legs and then just be calm and deliberate - no sudden acceleration, turning, braking. It will still feel pretty weird for a while though, nothing to do but practice short sections at lower speeds.
2:35 I took my bike, same model cross country and was able to get 180m/289km per tank I did carry a 1.5L fuel bottle. For water, better use a camelbak style drink carrier.
Great video Sorry to ask, could the resolution be higher, just checked it says 360P. Sorry for being a demanding somebody, just used to higher definition.
Yep commented above but I actually uploaded this in 4k last friday and scheduled for publish this morning. Unfortunately, 3 days wasn't enough time for youtube to process the HD/4k versions. Check back in a day or 2 and the good quality footage should finally be processed!
Not quite flatfoot on the bike, say one foot flat and the other 3/4 of the way there. But inseam matters more here than actual height so I'd really recommend you try to find a dealer to sit on one if you could.
I don't have one but there are mapping options and the B mode, from what I've read, doesn't all wheelies. I would have ruled the 900 out but I found out about the options
Sorry for the quality; I uploaded 4k footage but youtube's been churning it for 3 days straight with no end in sight apparently!
Hey there it is, now available in sweet 4k!
That's one gorgeous motorcycle
This bike is Amazing 👍 i Love This XSR
Love that bike. I want one👍

@@chantdeguerre Thanks for the information. Sorry l had not noticed your comment. Anyway hope you are enjoying the machine.
I’m also about 5’8 - 5’9, are your feet able to touch the ground? I would like to know since I might get this bike

Fit a LUST lowering kit, i did, much better for people with a low inseam! Just remember to lower front on the clamps to maintain handling.
Great and descriptive review! How are the throttles on these? Are they snatchy like some say? Are they smooth, or can they be with the rider modes?
Std & B mode are fine for normal riding. A mode is pretty sensitive & very responsive with higher rpms.

Tours like trash, small fuel tank
