Soften up the preload. Commuting on this????????? 115bhp????? Madness. These are great track day bikes. 150mph. I LOVE mine. It's super fun. I never ride in cities. Only mountain twisties and track days for me. Commute in a car man. That's the only way to go.
The ECU can be flashed and it really helps the jerky throttle, here in the UK it only cost £150 but you have to send them the ECU if too far to travel, was about a 5 day turnaround, they can also tune the bike to suit your exhaust, I remain stock, much much smoother! Some go with a power commander, I preferred the one and done flash, throws a check engine when ECU is plugged back in but you just reset that and no problems with it.
To an extent it's all going to come down to preferences (and budget!). I almost ended up buying the xsr700 instead of the 900; it'd probably be a little tiny bit better of a commuter because the suspension is softer and less harsh over nasty city streets. It's also a little lighter, lower and narrower and cheaper. I've ridden the faired CBR650R before, was a nice machine and also would make a good commuter, especially the more upright naked version. I don't think there's a wrong answer from any of those bikes; I'd recommend someone try sitting on them (or test riding if that's possible, which it often isn't) and seeing what clicks best.
A 2020 XSR900 has massive torque!! 2,000 rpm = 50 ft lb. That's bonkers. That's GSXR-1000 territory. You yanks have terrible gasoline. That bike does best on GA AvGas from an airport bowser.
Man you should do Vlogs! You’re really good. I’m in the process on buying a 2020 XSR900 right now, and you thoughts really helped me take the leap!

A good ecu reflash will fix 90% of the on/off throttle response.
LED use the H4 connector. Bulbs are very inexpensive.
You could just get the HID bulb and keep the headlight mount. I've seen several videos showing it and it increases visibility quite a bit.
So what’s the great commuter bike in you opinion? I’m debating between CB650r, mt07, xsr700/900. It’s a hard pick.

@@chantdeguerre truly appreciate you time for answering this. That helps me a lot.
@@chantdeguerre Commuting = 350cc at most. NOT A XSR900!!!!!!!! LOL
