This movie got over 1B$ worldwide because there are a lot of people who actually like this movie, and not taking it too seriously, critics won't stop that, that's for sure.
I don’t care how negative the critics rate this movie, the movie was amazing, there was a lot of nostalgic elements from other Mario games, great animation, and I especially loved the voice acting, including Jack Black as Bowser. I just had a lot of fun
I've NEVER agreed with critics. AND I've liked some pretty abysmal movies too. I say like what you like. Don't let anyone else tell you what you SHOULD enjoy. No matter how much they get paid to do so.
Some corrections -Spike is a character from Wrecking Crew, one of the first few Mario games, where he was the main antagonist, he's not related to Wario -The star bowser stole is most likely supposed to be the movie version of the Jumbo Star from Super Mario 64, which is needed to free Peach, not a Grand Star from Galaxy -The "Big ol fish" is a Maw-Ray/Unagi that first appeared in Super Mario 64's Jolly Roger Bay
The Star in this movie is a Super Star, the one that'll give you invincibility power for a brief moment. Not to be confused with Power Star, the one that unlocks level in 64 and Galaxy.
Wow, really? I just assumed they went with the name Spike because they couldn't think of a way to fit the Mario enemy itself into the film, so they just gave the name to some random guy instead.
I remember seeing a fan-made mock-up for a Luigi's Mansion movie poster that had Mark Hamill and Christopher Lloyd as stars, likely filling the roles of King Boo and E. Gadd respectively.
Fun fact instead of buying a wii and gamecube, you can find super mario allstar which is super mario 64, sunshine, and galaxy in one game pack for the switch. Tis pretty good
And while it is missing Galaxy 2, those games are similar enough that playing one, but not the other (granted I do recall preferring the second one) isn't a huge loss.
The fact that this movie hit past $1.2 billion. It really worked wonders for the video game film genre easy AND redemption for the 1993 live-action bomb! The first one in the history of the genre if I may add. Glad I watched this Mario movie on opening weekend in LA. It was worth every penny! Jack Black's casting as Bowser is one of my favorites in a movie inspired by a video game franchise. Right up there with Ryan Reynolds as Detective Pikachu and Ben Schwartz as Sonic The Hedgehog.
I'm just glad that in the Detective Pikachu movie, during the one scene where you hear Pikachu talk from somebody else's perspective, he actually sounds like an ordinary Pikachu. As opposed to the Detective Pikachu video game, where from what I recall, he still had his deep voice even when heard by everybody other than Tim.

A vast majority of kids who grew up in the 80s and early 90s couldn't wait to watch this on the big screen or IMAX. Here you are watching it on a 55-inch (or smaller) TV (or monitor). Must be a generational thing.
While the film is a cut above Illuminations typical standard and the film packed as much as it in as it could, I left the film feeling disenchanted. Imma be honest, ive never played a single Mario game in my life💀. All i knew was its about jumping around, hitting bricks with your head, stepping on little poop creatures and beating a giant turtle named Bowser. I had to look up a lore synopsis before watching the movie and it was pretty good. I still think its Japan's first try at isekai tho😂. Good movie all-round👍.

IDK about u man, but that sure as fuk sounds like an isekai plotline to me.
Did you realize how hot bowser's fire is It would have to be hotter than the hottest lava at least in the real world To melt that manhole within an hour and it started melting after a few seconds and they were like 20 feet away how hot is it point blank gheeze lueez Bowser is OP
As much as I liked this movie, I wish it had more character development for Peach & Mario. Even Luigi since it’s called the Mario Bros movie not the Mario & Peach movie. Jack Black as Bowser carried the movie. It also reminded me of The Transformers 86 movie as well since it had a whole bunch of songs that made some scenes into unofficial music videos.
The Super Mario Bros. Plumbing phone number seen in the movie is actually different from the one seen in the original advertisement. Not sure if the original number still works. Also, as one of the 9 Foreman Spike fans in the world, I'd actually hate to see his big comeback in this movie undone by turning him into Wario in the next movie. I WOULD like to see that child that bullied Baby Luigi to grow up into Waluigi, though. The Rosalina comments were interesting, too, since Lumalee appears in this movie, and Peach says "There's a huge universe out there, with a lot of galaxies" so it feels like they're setting up some Super Mario Galaxy tie-in stuff, but I feel like it'd be too soon to jump into Galaxy with the first sequel, especially since there's so much other stuff we haven't gotten to yet (like Yoshi, who was teased in the post-credits scene). Still, the potential for sequels and spin-offs are truly endless, it'll be very intriguing to see what Nintendo and Illumination does with them, and I'm definitely looking forward to all of it! (I guess this is a reupload, since my original comment isn't here anymore. Also, those two red-shelled spikey guys are called "Spinies", it sounded one of you said you don't remember what they were called either. The giant eel, the "Maw-Ray" as it were, is from Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Odyssey.)
The only issue I have with Peach is she seems a little too fast like Boom said she's the best character in several games but I feel her play style and movements are a bit slower and also if they want to introduce Daisy later now they're basically the same character but its not like it ruins the movie at all
The bomber bill is actually the king bill it has to be way too big to be a bonsai has to be a king I'm not gonna explain it just look up king bullet bill

13:15 After you said that there was a Luigi's Mansion motif in the music
i love how i got ab out 85-90% of the references and i've only ever played mario kart. mostly i've just watched UA-camrs play mario games.
5:07 There is a theory that Forman Spike (the giant man) is Wario and Waluigi's father.
Wario and Waluigi aren't brothers.
@@TeeTop_ I said *Theory*
@@TeeTop_Really? I always just assumed they where. Where do you get this info?
There was an end credit scene surprised yall didn’t show us your reaction 😭
Imma be honest, ive never played a single Mario game in my life💀.
All i knew was its about jumping around, hitting bricks with your head, stepping on little poop creatures and beating a giant turtle named Bowser.
I had to look up a lore synopsis before watching the movie and it was pretty good.
I still think its Japan's first try at isekai tho😂.
Good movie all-round👍.
@@crcoghill i mean, thats what i saw them as. Still do TBH.
“Japan’s first try at isekai”
What?? R u high
@@ma.2089 Let's see shall we,
A guy who goes to another world, finds a kingdom in trouble, meets a princess that will be his love interest, fights the creature thats threatening the kingdom, becomes op as fuk in the process, and then continues his life as a hero in the kingdom?
IDK about u man, but that sure as fuk sounds like an isekai plotline to me.
Mario games are good, if you don't have a Nintendo console emulators exists, so why not
The end credits is really cool cause they show yoshi’s egg at the end ❤❤❤
Yess u remember the show!! No one else does!! 🔥🔥💚
1:48 ask the conch if you should get a GameCube
(26:20) Bowser sure went hard there! Went into Tenacious D Mode!
My favourite Mario games on N64 were Super Mario 64, Mario Party 2 and my most favourite Paper Mario. 😊
I got goosebumps when the super star theme played
We have Mario, Donkey Kong, Luigi, Yoshi, and Bowser, Peach.
The only issue I have with Peach is she seems a little too fast like Boom said she's the best character in several games but I feel her play style and movements are a bit slower and also if they want to introduce Daisy later now they're basically the same character but its not like it ruins the movie at all
I can't see that Mario movie that well
Wow, ye didn't stick it out till the post-credit with the Yoshi tease? :l
Hear me out…
Luigi’s Mansion with Christopher Lloyd as Professor E. Gad
The ending song is a nod to the second Guardians of the Galaxy because of Chris.
The bomber bill is actually the king bill it has to be way too big to be a bonsai has to be a king I'm not gonna explain it just look up king bullet bill
21:27 i thought this at the cinema 😂💚
$1B worldwide and a yoshi egg at the end. Yeah. There's a gonna be a sequel.
they announced a sequel awhile ago, comes out in 2026
This was a great movie, sorry that you had to re upload the reaction
This movie was awesome
